- Changing the XVS650 Air Filter, Spark Plugs and Adjusting the Air Fuel Mixture Screw on Dizzy the project XVS 650, Dragstar 650 or V-Star 650. Getting Dizzy running right before we modify and bob the bike!

I own an xvs 650... year 2000, only 16,000 km... very satisfied... I'm waiting for the k&n to put it on and then just cruise😎🫵👌👍✌️

Yeah he sounds a bit better now jeff, will eventually change the dog bowl into something cooler but he goes as he should now

Love it mate. Cool to see your approach and not trusting what the previous owner did. A bit different to my HOG project where I owned the bike for 19 years and did a blue printing of the engine 3 years ago, but I'm looking to replace the airfilters with a different type - so there will be a bit of re- tuning when they come in.
Haha if you cant trust the previous owner somethings wrong 😂 I find they say anything and everything and at times even geniuinly geniuinly believe what theyve said but its still not right or has no oil in it or air filter has never been changed!!! Im going to rejet in a few vids time! Cheers
Im sure you still have this bike i have one as well. I would definatly recommend the k&n filter. Huge difference in throttle response and allot better on your engine

If you aren't sure what to do with the dog bowl or just want an idea they do engrave really well.
Seen some really nice engravings in a few of them and some were really intricate.

I just rejetted and installed a pod kit, according to the instructions I need to adjust my PMS screws 3.5 turns, how do I know if it’s done right? Also how do I know if it’s at the starting point to start counting the 3.5 turns?
wind it in all the way then count each rotation until you have 3.5 turns out. If its done right it won't pop and fart on decel

Just wondering what exhaust you have on the bike? It doesn't sound to loud, but it doesn't sound loud either. Seems I can only find Cobra and V&H, and they are both pretty loud which I do not want. Just what a little rumble. And thoughts?
At that point it was Jawa exhausts I think, then I went to emgo cocktain shakers
I have the 650 custom with V&H short shots. I just had it re jetted and had a k&n air filter installed with tune. I got it home and realized once the engine got hot it was shooting blue flame out of the top exhaust and it was gurgling. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Its usually unburnt fuel sounds way too rich mate
Is there anyway I can fix that at home without having to take it in? They've already said it's gonna cost me and I literally paid them 900 yesterday for parts and labor

In the process of getting mine set properly did you wind the mixture screws in all the way then back out 2 1/2 turns?

That's the same colour as my xvs, that i just got given. Mine has a mere 1498 klm from new on it. It was parked up in 2002 with the carbs full of fuel. Still trying to sort those out LOL

Great work! Just one question I need to adjust my air fuel mixture but I'm not certain about which screw you are turning two and a half turns. I just removed my filter cap but I'm not seeing the screw. Thank you :)
I'm turning the air fuel or PMS behind the air filter. If you cant see them they havent been adjusted before and you need to drill out the brass caps that cover them. Google it! 👍👍

Favourite mod for these bikes are a kuryakyn hypercharger and Vance and Hines short shots exhaust. Love ya work mate 👍

I bought a 2000 vstar 650 that had been sitting for a while. Cleaned up the carb jets and it will run. But, the choke doesn't work. Replaced the cable and went back to the carbs and the control arm for the choke doesn't move. Can you give me some suggestions??
Answered your own question there champ. Id Unstick the choke bell crank or plunger mechanism so cable can actuate it by removing the carbs and using penetrant.
