Anthony’s videos are the ones I look most forward to on Empire’s channel. Great mix of playing/demo and talking. You always seem to come out with a video on the exact models I’m looking into 🎸
Went through a bunch of basses, including AMPro II, and chose the Nate Mendel. SDQP pups are for me when compared to the VMod and other Pbass pups. They can get a little unwieldy with round wounds but nothing you can’t deal with in EQ or the tone / volume knobs. They also sound great with labella flats, which I go back and forth between the stock fender rounds and those depending on what I’m playin g. Can’t go wrong with this bass
Play it! Then decide if it’s for you! Best advice on the internet today! It’s the paint you can liberally apply to guitars, basses, etc. great explanation. Thanks!
Have to agree with Anthony, had one of these about 18 months and absolutly love it, sadly to the detriment of my other basses, definately a one trick pony as mentioned when compared to my active Stingray so if you are someone who likes to continually play with tones maybe not for you. However what the Nate delivers is imho the best sounding P you will ever own, initially thought the narrow neck would not be for me but love it, some folks dont like the glossy finish on the neck but i have no issue with it, its a super fast neck. Only issue its had is an earth fault out of the box, that annoying buzz when you lift off the strings, very easily sorted.
@@jamesbeck1600 right thats 2 of us then, maybe just another 10 for a class action lawsuit against Fender on how an annoying buzz ruined our lives (for about 30 minutes) lol 😁
I'm a sucker for candy apple red precision basses (thanks Duck Dunn :p). I kind of had this one on my mind for a long time but trying to find one under 10lbs is almost impossible. If I ever find a lighter one in the 9 - 9.5lb range, I'd probably snap it up in a heartbeat.
Check out the Squier Pete Wentz Precision. It also has a high output just like Nate Mendel's, and it is surprisingly light. It's not candy apple red, but you can always paint it!
Well, there seem to be different kind of Nate Mendel Basses out there. My personal one is pretty light. the one I treid at Thomann was pretty heavy. So maybe you have to have to look out for the right one :-)
One of my favorite basses that I've ever owned! Sold it to pay for the new Empire 58 that I designed... but an absolute monster of a bass! Thanks for watching - Anthony
Also got one. Is it normal when reducing the volume on any level on the bass the tone control doesn’t change the tone at all? The sound stays bright or gets bright again. Its not an issue to me but I recognized it on my nate mendel. Anybody knows if the tone circuit is the grease bucket circuit? Thanks and greetings from Germany🤘🏻🍻
Lowering volume cuts power and drops tone / bottom end. I’ve noticed on mine that when I have tone at zero and turn volume down it loses bass. I called Fender Cs and they confirmed this is expected
The notes don’t compress because it’s a high mass bridge with brass saddles. I don’t know why people really like those bridges. It sucks away the mids and your tone.

As long as it’s Fender😉
I plays in a Foo tribute (Best of Foo) so I picked one up! Whoa! What a great bass! Very underrated. Kudos!
Anthony’s P Bsss Jamms always gets me going! I love the P bass
Thanks!!! - Anthony

Great video, your reviews are always very thorough and helpful. One of these is definitely on my list.
Thanks so much! Love these basses! Let me know if I can help - Anthony // anthony@empiremusic.com

Odd, mine was missing the ground wire too! Bought from Fender

@@nobbytart27hey man, just picked up one of these. Add my name to the law suit😢 what's the fix for this?

This bass SMACKS. Still kicking myself a little for not going with this one. Soooo good.
Any idea where this bass is manufactured? Is it made in USA or somewhere else? I can't seem to find that information online.
It's from Mexico
Love mine, but why is it that heavy? I have a 50´s MIM roadworn which is lighter than Mendel´s.
Perhaps because its an ash body. I also got the fiesta red p bass road worn. Its not so heavy and the body is alder.
"Thwonkiness !"
😄🎸🎸🎵🎵
Very cool, as always.👍
Do you still have the bass? If so, what’s the price & shipping?
Love mine Anthony, yes she really cuts through, a smooth punchy axe 🎸
