Just catching up, Freddie and Monica! Just watched all of these,.wow wow wow! This is now on our list. Amazing quality footage. You really know how to capture the scenery. Great tour, great BnBs. Wrangler looks in it's element. One for the Africa Twin I feel.
As much as I love the motorcycles trips, it’s equally as cool to see it with a Jeep as well. Hope, you keep up both. Personally it allows me to feel what it could be like first hand.
I had a Defender. Drove it for 6-8 months as my only vehicle. Was glad to move back to a car. It was slow, noisy, hard on fuel considering the laggardly performance, a pain to climb in and out of (2” lift), not particularly stable on the road and had shag all space to boot (Defender 90). The odd time I wanted to tackle a mountain track (live in the west of Ireland) it suddenly made sense and was in its element. If I had the financial wherewithal to keep one as a second car (well, third including the missus’) I would just for knocking around locally and such. But as a daily driver? Never again. I have a Volvo estate and it’s a pleasure by comparison.
Well done Monika, excellent shots and editing. The beach is where The Banshees of Inisherin was one of the places the film was shot. A Comedy/Horror of Ireland of days gone by. You'll either love it or go what the hell was that.
Hi from Ireland.. Just to say thanks to Monica and you for showcasing Ireland. I'm looking forward to heading over to the UK, the lake district, in a few weeks time. I'll be taking my GS and travelling in company with a few biking friends. We're considering the Hardknott Pass, but it does look scary! Very scary....
Car in distance is a Morris 1800 (land crab) I believe. I had the (arrow range) badge engineered Hillman Minx and Hillman Hunter versions of that Singer.
Didn't think It would be as enjoyable to watch without the triumph, but you and Monica did a fantastic job in the jeep more commentary to keep us entertained, thanks Freddie
@@FreddieDobbs you're welcome, Gaelic is a tricky language to get your head around, I remember a little from my time in school as a child but I still find it difficult 😂
Well done Monica and Freddie another special trip I really enjoy your trips on your beloved Bonneville or your great looking Jeep.Well done and thank you again.
The island you are referring to is pronounced AH KILL (say it fast as one word) Just for your own knowledge 😊 I was there myself recently and my actual photo attached was from down at the car park that you both overlooked. The beach is called Keem bay. Stunning. Keep up the great work. I find you and Monica fascinating to be honest. (Monica more than you 😂❤)
What a beautiful country. I’d like to bring some good food & spirits, a warm fire, an Irish jig, a great novel, a view from a window & my wife for a winter storm. Thanks for introducing us to Ireland.
Great Irish road trip you & Monica shared there, I did it in reverse in June on my Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, Cheltenham to Fishguard - Rosslare, then west coast Killarney, Galway, Sligo, Belfast - Stranraer & back via the Lakes for the Dave Myers memorial run and home to Cheltenham, 1400 miles 🏴🏴🇮🇪🇬🇧🏴
What a refreshing change in the Jeep opposed to the Bonneville and equally as entertaining. Thank you Freddie and Monica, an absolute pleasure to see Ireland and the all those stunning views. 👀
I’m glad you both enjoyed Ireland. ☘️ Perhaps next time, you might travel across to Larne and take the coast road up to Portrush/Portstweart and on to Donegal. It’s a truly amazing place. Of course with it being my home area I’m a little biased. ☘️
Aaaaah Sligo… I used to take the dog out on those beaches when i was living in Ireland 15 years ago. They were wild, windy and usually deserted and one of the nearest things to dog heaven I have come across… good choice and glad you enjoyed your trip, embracing the weather in the true Irish spirit.
Yet another super snap shot of Rural Ireland! So much freedom and laid back attitude just puts your sole in a different place! Wind and rain a feature of Ireland but with the wet weather gear too hand we just get on with it. I’m sure that you will make it back and have yet more adventures. Glad you guys got home safe . Keep up the good work and look forward to your next adventure! Regards John
Great video, beautiful places and you captured the atmosphere of Ireland. I like the bike videos as well but can see how the jeep will enable you to make more content over the winter.
I did most of the Wild Atlantic Way back in April this year - Donegal down to Cork, loved it. Achill island was a definite highlight as was the ring of Kerry. So many cool places and mostly deserted! Top work Freddie
Never have I seen a personal watch 🐕. Such a gentle dog. I can see that a 4 wheeler has it's advantages when traveling, especially when 2- up. The wind must have been so strong that it blew the steering wheel to the right side of the Jeep. Just the opposite side in the States. Monika seems to enjoy Jeeping. Probably the dog would've enjoyed a trip to town for a biscuit and drink. 👍👍
That was a very respectful and intelligent dog- it had total free roam of the countryside (no gates to enclose him in anywhere). I think we’ve already put 3,000 miles on the Jeep in one month!
Great vid I love Ireland The old farm where you did stay looks great and what a great dog , being Irish my self I must go back for a few weeks Holiday now I seen your vid . like the Jeep .
Hey Dobbzy, have you ever considered getting a drone ? The insta 360 is a great addition . Some of the places you go a birds eye view would be amazing. Food for thought 🤔. Anyway, keep up the good work 👏.. cheers..
Oh com On! those views of Ireland! Another place to visit on my "to go to" list.... A tip maybe on traveling there from the Netherlands? Through Newcastle and then across the UK and take a ferry? thnx again for the fantastic vlog..
The best value will be Calais to Dover ( £50 ferry), and then Stranraer (Scotland) to Northern Ireland (around £160). There’s also a ferry from Ireland to France for the return trip (I think about 12 hours)
Think the jeep is a great move, full of character and ability. ( more usable than a defender over longer run)- next move a motorcycle trailer so you guys can combine both on touring trips??
A beautiful road trip to christen the Jeep! I went to Achill Island some 40yr ago and it’s great to see it’s still as wild and dramatic as I remember it….. great filming and editing as usual 👍
Loved the tour Freddie personally i would have preferred it on the bonneville for me thats what sets your films apart from the norm Just my opinion friend
When Fred says ‘straight done there is Canada’, the first point of land is Newfoundland. A place where many Irish people settled. Still today, hundreds of years later, there are places in NF where the accents are indistinguishable from those in parts of Ireland.
Beautiful film. Made a similar journey 20-odd years ago on a Triumph ST955. Nothing's changed! The Jeep is like a third person on the video, I really like it, I just wouldn't want to pay for the petrol. Wishing you a safe trip home.
Was over touring Achill island on Monday 12th August ..traveling with two other bikers from East Ireland . I've biked most of WAW but had never experienced Achill . We had thunder and lightning on Sunday ..spectacular ...I'll be disappointed to discover you guys were there and we didn't meet..BTW it's Akill in pronunciation 😂..Another brilliant video guys.❤
Hmm, I’ve just checked the diary and we were there on the 12th, too! Between 3-6pm we were on the island, and we also had the very changeable weather😆 Akil… damn it- I knew I’d get it wrong!
@@FreddieDobbs 🤣🤣..where you parked above Keem beach, I was trying to see were our bikes down there..I got some great footage of the other guys riding along that road. Delighted you got to enjoy Ireland ...my first viewing of your work was a trip to the Isle of Wight ...have still to get there
5 vids ago... Why oh why have you bought a Wrangler Jeep dear Freddie? 😮... Now the penny drops 👍 Beautiful country. Thanks for the journey, as always.
Another quality video, and from such a special place! 👌 Freddie....please put the phone in the corner of the windscreen! Yes I know it may seem trivial.....but you're creating a blindspot with it in the centre of the windscreen, and on Irelands rural roads, visibility is quite important! 🧐 Anyway, thanks for my Ireland "fix"....I've only been away for 2 weeks, and already yearning to get back to Mayo! 🇮🇪 💚❤
Great trip guys - the North West is stunning. But the good news is that to be honest you have barely scratched the surface. A full week-long bike trip is what is called for focused on the other end of the country. BTW: The “ch” is Achill is more less silent. Written phonetically you might spell it “Ah Kill”. To be fair, some Irish place names are a bit of a nightmare to pronounce. That said, I think I will defer to our Celtic neighbours in Wales who set the gold standard on that front😀
Hi Freddie, The island is pronounced ack-ill. Lovely place that I have fond memories of. Fun fact! All the grazing land on the island is in common ownership and the local farmers have the right to graze a set number of cattle or sheep! I remember how the animals just wandered around randomly all over the island which was very odd to someone used to a landscape of enclosed fields.
17:30 This is the way you should do airbnb. Not renting a home from the big city were housing is scarce as it is. This keeps the countryside more livable.
What a fantastic short holiday, I just need to sort out my life so I can get the same experiences, retirement should be next. The Jeep was a great choice of vehicle, just pretend that steps to reverse global warming can start tomorrow!
Ireland is a breathtakingly beautiful country, but I agree that it is expensive. I have had 2 week holidays in Thailand that have cost less than we spent for 1 week, in a cottage in Derry!
Freddie, motorcycle or 4x4 still brilliant. Thank you
Really glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of your best videos by far. Great editing too which makes it feel like you’re along for the journey with you. ❤
The dog was the star of the show, so cute 🐶😉
Wasn’t he🤩
What was his name?
Achill Island, Co. Mayo, pronounced 'Ackill', beautiful place! glad you got to see Keem Beach

The west coast of Ireland has the nicest and most dramatic scenery in the world
The Jeep is a great choice of car for you. It’s so much better as a daily than the equivalent Defender !
