  • Hi folks, In this video I build ( and modify a little) the brilliant Ban-Dai AT-ST from Star Wars in 1/48.
    The Paint scheme is inspired by the AT-ST Raider from the mandolorian.

      I'm in the middle of a custom build right now. I've added heavier guns to the chin, scratch built Gatling laser pods in place of the original weapons, and a commander's cupola from a 1:48 Panther tank w/ a heavy repeating blaster on the ring mount on top. I'm also adding some heavier armor around the cockpit. She's going to be painted in a camo of Ghost Grey overlaid by German Grey tiger stripes, with a snarling mouth & 4 eyes. I even have some Aurebesh (Star Wars alphabet) decals to spell out her name:
      "Bad Kitty". I plan to add an armored glass effect in each of the 2 cockpit windows. I still need to get a 1:48 Stormtrooper to stand in the commander's cupola.

  • @Jc88500

    You probably know this by now but the reason every part has a ‘locator tab’ is because the kit is designed to be snap-fit. Those tabs are actually supposed to hold the kit together through friction.
    Anyways, awesome build. If you liked the level of detail Bandai put into this kit, then I recommend checking out their Gundam kits (Particularly the RG and MG Lines).

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words JC885, 😀
      I'm not really into gundam unfortunately. I see some great ones built but never had the urge to make one.
      There seems to be a lot more rules with bandai kits than my usual niche which is a bit surprising, the glue thing seems hotly contested. I'm still going to use glue on any future kits tho.

    • @Jc88500
      @Jc88500 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lpjmodels Ah, okay. You’re free to do whatever you want. Though I still hope you check it out one day.
      You know, in the Gunpla community, we have a saying: ‘Gunpla is freedom’ basically build what you want, the way you want to do it. If you want to use glue, then fine, no one’s going to stop you. Just be sure to keep it out of moving parts! (Which there are a lot of in Gundam kits btw).

    Great build and video a usual.
    I'm currently building this kit and it's also my first Bandai. I'm very impressed with the quality of the mouldings and the thought put into the sprue connection positions - very little clean up required.
    I'm building a 'what if' scene with the addition of a 1/48 WWII German Maintenance Crew. I've replaced the laser cannons with a 7.5cm gun and scribed additional panel lines with bolt heads added...
    I wish Bandai made military models. 😅

    I’ll chime in with the positive comments! Very nicely done, with some great attention to detail with the add-ones. Love what you did with the groundwork and extra foliage jammed into the nooks and crannies. Happy New Year, James!!

    Super result, James....it's not surprising that you use your skills with any subject (even ones you haven't done before) and create amazing models. Great idea upgrading the base with extra bits and pieces and thought the 'lettering' on the home-made armour was a creative touch. Agreed.....let's hope that 2022 is a little brighter than last year and better for us all.

    Instead of that dental thing,use a toothbrush with cut short "brushes" and only like a small part of the toothbrush. This way you can apply more accurate scratching.

      Cheers man. A Place called the scenic factory in the US. But you can pop to a garden centre and get some plumosa fern. And have your very own supply. Just pick up some glycerine to soak it in too. Baby leaves are the best.
