    Thank you! I was set up given a disposal no instructions or spare parts. Be sure to check the gasket in the disposal going out to the drain. Thanks again saved me a lot of misery and trip to HD.

    Thanks man, you gave me the confidence to save the $5 and get one without the chord. I will take mine off the old unit first though to make sure that it is all doable. every dollar counts these days my brother.

    Insinkerator sells a cord kit that is simple to install. If you don't have tin snips to cut the metal as was indicated here. In this instance, if you manage to get the plug out, I think it would have been safer, easier, and faster to just use some wire nuts to splice the wires in the new unit. Wrap some electrical tape around the wire nut to improve water resistance.

    What I learned here is don’t buy this type of cord.
