God they were so beautiful...you didn't want to drive them... you wanted just to look at them and protect them from getting old...what a great commercial...just as I feel about them THEY ARE WORKS OF ART!!!
Absolutely amazing !!!!!!!! Thanks for posting Beetlejuice 150 !!! ....and they say that we are in the golden age of advertising.....those good old times of naive putiry are gone ....
Well, some beople buy the DVD and send back DVD's with commercials on it. I even received a VHS tape! Once in a while I compile a new DVD. I must admit it becomes harder to find commercials I don't already have! Paul
It's interesting to compare this (likely French) European ad to the North American VW Bug ads which stressed the car's practicality, quality and durability, rather than looks and colours
Was this really a commercial?.... seems a little long for being just a mere commercial...Maybe it was a series of commercials that ran in segments, telling as story along the way?
Well, this is pretty quirky. When you have a captive audience in a movie theater, they'll just sit and watch for a few minutes in between other films - which is where this was originally shown. I must say that the range of Beetle colors was not the most vibrant at that point. Not much of a palette range. Of course this film has likely faded somewhat in the last 50+ years, too.
Beautiful video! And my friend Beetlejuice, watch this commercial of the Brazzilian Beetle: "watch?v=d_NPEJhgIQc" -Or find in TH-cam: "Volkswagen Saude de Aço"!!!!!!!!!
My 1960s childhood riding in A 1965 beetle. My first car: A 8 year old 1970 beetle. Cars that were SIMPLE , DURABLE, RELIABLE !
...and a death trap!

1956 was the first year to get twin exhaust pipes and 1957 was the last year for the oval back window. This film was made between 56 and 57.

Star Wars Cantina Band works much better with this clip, I find.
at leaset we'd be speaking more than one language (like the rest of the world)
Awful VW Beetle commercial!
No my friend, I said artful, not awful. Artful it is, like in artist, arthouse... Artful yes!
