There was a very famous DJ from Toronto named Anabolic Frolic, who was responsible for both the Happy 2b Hardcore compilations and the Hullabaloo parties. There was a stage at HTID In The Sun 2012 featuring DJ Dynamic, DJ Virus, DJ Tempest and Xphox whom are all from Toronto also. Lenny Dee most definitely made HH tracks, but they are not as notable as his other material. Omar Santana also had some great Happy Hardcore tracks.
Oh yeah I agree with all of you, this tune's been stuck in my mind for years and I couldn't remember what it was called, I just found it tonight, it deserves more hits than this for sure such a classic.....
Also, I know quite a lot about the North East scene, and have for years. I was in Sunderland and Newcastle as recently as last year, and as a DJ include many New Monkey/Colo/Afterdark classics in my sets. I personally think it is my favourite scene in the world. Southern stuff just doesn't do it for me.
Yeah, the Colo and AD2 MCs were top. Techno T and Jet were always my favourite. I have a few Judgement Day tapes - good material, but I thought that was all international headliners? It is the blending of the styles that makes the NE scene IMHO.
I am not sure wherefrom you have your information about the scene here, but I should clarify that there was not only a huge scene here, but it ran alongside the scene in the UK and Europe. Italo was never too big in the scene here in Toronto, so most of us first heard this one in around '97 when Daydream put it out.
Funny copy that, I wonder if it come 1st before the red rocket maybe pressed as knickers 1 to avoid sample clearance then when he got samples cleared release on red rocket label?
I try to make it over to England whenever I head to Italy to visit family. I love makina, but I think my personal tastes lie with Italo and German bouncy Trance. Though the Makina material coming out of the NE is really something these days. Breakbeat stuff was just never my cup of tea. I was always more into the Dutch material than the southern scene. I thought you couldn't drink at the AD2 or Colo either? Crazy that parties went until 10am like haha
Yeah. It always got to me that this is practically the same song. Just play the Moratto track at 45rpm and -8 and you get a much more full and powerful bassline!
