    • @BobMcBurger1
      @BobMcBurger1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guess PWA doesn’t know geography themself. Karma strikes again.
      As an American, I obviously dislike the slander the country gets. Though I won’t deny there are many things wrong in the States. But calling the country dumb, or the population, is just wrong. If the US was ‘dumb’ then most of the technology we use today wouldn’t exist. Take Apple or Microsoft. It’s innovation which requires great minds thus good knowledge. There are many examples of other stuff too.
      I mean, yes, the country does have idiots. But that is the same for other countries around the globe. Example: Just seeing fools on TH-cam not know simple things doesn’t justify that country as mentally impaired.

      Living in Moscow, I have 300 mbps gpon router, but my room is at the opposite side of flat and if you try drawing a straight line to the router, it would go through neighbor's flat (they have 1 room flat, we have 3 room one). And my dad doesn't allow me to bring the wire to my room. And the laptop doesn't have wifi 5. So, at my laptop I have like 5-10 megabit while my smartphone can use all 300 near the router and 30-125 in my room

    Comparing the entirety of vast Russia to everyone else, while we still have provinces with telephone cables instead of internet lines is not quite fair, is it?

I have 2500mbps internet for $60 per month on a 2 year contract. For me $60 is pretty cheap. For most russian providers 8 or 10 megabits per second is bare minimum - average speed is about 40-60 megabits per second. I personally have 90 megabits for a pretty cheap price. Lots of people stream in 4K in Russia, while streaming in 1080p is also like a bare minimum. Your data is clearly incorrect in that sense.

    Just so everyone knows, countries with smaller surface areas and populations may have higher averages because first, the telecom providers have faster speeds and the speed only decreases at each level and second, the average may be brought down by rural areas that don’t have the same level of human development. A better comparison would be user-reported speed by metropolitan area than total average by country.

    The irony of Sweden saying Liechtenstein is between Sweden and Austria when correcting the US when it said Australia....if that was intentional as a nod to the Sweden/Switzerland mix-up, I love that touch
    Fun fact, historically the ruling Liechtenstein dynasty has acquired a lot more territory than the current area. Especially in neighboring Austria, Silesia, and even Moravia. The possessions on Czech soil were taken by the Czechoslovak government after WWII because they classified the dynasty as Germans under the Beneš decrees (rather than Liechtensteiner; to Liechtenstein, this didn't recognize their principality's sovereignty). Because of this, they are in an ongoing dispute with the Czechs over these possessions. So far, they have been unsuccessful.

  • @MisterLobb
    @MisterLobb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +41

    I’m enjoying this video more after reading the comments and making a few of my own.
    At first glance, it’s about population density, but after a little analysis it’s relative wealth per capita. The less densely populated poor regions get less service infrastructure. High density poor areas also lag behind more wealthy locations. A better metric would be to compare median income regions in each nation.
    However, this whole discussion (which I’ve engaged in myself) misses the mark, as tI suspect he creator was really making a funny/ ironic video about generalizations in statistics being misleading and that often one group uses them to laugh at (belittle) another without seeing that they’re just as guilty.

      Hate to break it to you but cities are where you go to find the largest number of people with CRAPPY net. Medium towns between half hour and an hour from a city is where you find the fastest speeds. Towns had fiberoptic cables long before cities did, it costs too much to replace/upgrade in cities so you end up with crappy wires and they won't replace them unless you fork out thousands of dollars often. For that same price they'll do half a town because of cost alone.

      In india it's the same, I don't from where he got 4 Mbps. According to pilla average broadband speed in india is 60.6 mbps as of Sept 2021. We can get a 100mbps plan for as low as 10 usd.
      10 USD a month.

    The average internet speed in the U.S. might be low, but it greatly depends on where you live. Around me 100 to 200 Mbps is pretty common, but I know certain cities have around 1000 Mbps. Also if you live far from a city, which is very common in the U.S. it can be much lower like 10 Mbps or even nothing in some areas (though you can probably still get satellite internet).

      I learned that it also depends on the internet providers in your area. I'm fairly close to a city but my provider could only offer 12 mbps in my area lol I called another provider and found out they were the most optimized for my area, offering 60+ mbps and it was cable internet instead of DSL.
