I don't feel Rutger Hauer was ever given the respect, or opportunity, he so deserved in movies and for the work he completed. He was so much better than many of his American colleagues. He even mastered the English language. I sure enjoyed the full range of his acting. He was amazingly all-around gifted. I sure miss him.
❤ I could write a hundred replies about Rutger Hauer, & still not encapsulate all.that this doll of a handsome male actor was capable of. I DO think.he demonstrated his talent and skill & indomitable presence & charisma on screen. I would've adored meeting him. RIP, Mr. Hauer. The film world AND the rest of the world have missed you.
Rutger Hauer was vroeger mijn idool. Hij woonde later redelijk dichtbij met zijn vrouw in Friesland.. Helaas heb ik hem nooit ontmoet. Wat een heerlijke man en die ogen zo aantrekkelijk.❤
To this day, people don't get that Deckard was the villan and that tickles the shit out of him, but he is so classy and let's it go. His understanding of who's the villan is what makes his "tears in rain" speech remarkable.
@@warrenbfeagins he does address it in another interview conducted the same day, in that same chair. I don't agree that it's a definite binary between hero and villain in the film though.
Yes, Rutger liked riding horse, in his younger years he lived in a small house a couple of kilometers from my town, his old neighbour told me he used to do that naked hahaha 🤣Later he lived in the village of Beetsterzwaag where he drove his golfcart in the forrest together with his dog, always friendly and waving to others. The man was such peculiar and extraordinary 🙂 We miss natural people as him!!
He was very kind and respectful to this woman. Very humble. The actors today don't behave this way. He was unbelievably good looking, and in Blade Runner he turned the whole movie into this incredibly deep, emotional journey about the whole meaning off live in the last few minutes of his last scene. They say he just added that speech at the end. Without it, the movie would have been o.k., but not that special.
Yesss, David is my favorite. But I absolutely see what you mean. Kind of what I thought. I just look at him a bit differently as I'm from a city south of his.....
An AWESOME actor, Blade Runner, The Hitcher, LADYHAWK, Split Second , Blind FURY brilliant movies, Would have luved to have met this guy, Gutted when he passed away, RIP ROY ❤️
Wygant's questions about sci-fi as a genre and Hollywood as an industry, vs. the European film industry, are really interesting. And Rutger's responses.... Wow. What a guy.... Always delivering such deep and poignant answers. The trade-offs we make in life. Meaning vs. money in the creation of art. Which is more important? Should art be used as a money-making means to an end, to gain social influence for social benefit, she asks? His answer is perfect. Always Meaning, with a capital M. So much philosophy and cultural discussion casually thrown into the mix. I really think he was the best actor in all of film history. His role as Roy Batty is untouchable. No one else could have done it. Only developed outlooks on life like this could translate into the perfection we see on screen.
As much as I loved Blade Runner 2049, it could never replicate the charm of the original because it lacked Mr. Hauer's charisma and screen presence. We were graced by one of a kind.
Rutger Hauers intelligent demeanour, humour, gestures, expression and confidence is pure Gold standard. He is genuinely inspirational, it’s easy to see why he became a success in Hollywood.
I think deep down he was. When he got older like over 60, he was more sort of “devil may care” with things, he swore a lot more and didn’t take any bs from anyone .. seemed a great guy. We lost a diamond in 2019.
Great actor and overlooked by many people and the film world. He's in the same league as far as I'm concerned as Clint Eastwood, Antonio Banderas, Jack Nicholson.
The Interviewer is extremely ignorant, but Rutger is very kind and patient. If she knew a damn thing about the movie then she would have known better than to call him a villain when his character in blade runner was the victim fighting to save his own life and the life of his friends he loved.
Give her a break - she asked a lot of good questions and let Rutger explain rather well without too many interruptions. It's not some life or death interrogation...
I love these interviews because it shows that the interviewer has to give popcorn munching questions for the standard moviegoers in Rutgers trying to give insightful introspective responses
Blade runner was perfect with Mr. Hauer, as a robot with feelings. Did he receive the recognition? I also liked the "Omega Doom!" But was somewhat afraid with his role in "Lexx", but that WAS bazarr! I don't think I will have time, now at 62, and fighting legal battles ( do you realize the defense attorney had someone hack my computer shoeing a screen shot with all my side folders? The mf. ) to see all of his movies. I do salute you on you candor about the solipsistic American attitudes and fears that Hollywood displays. You are a number one actor, in my book!
I saw him once in Oxford st, London. Very striking man! Not 6 ft 2 like I thought but more like 6ft, but a huge tall head, huge hands. and very wide waist!
When he said Rocky 4 (two years before filming commenced), it makes me wonder whether Sly Stallone considered him as an alternate choice over Dolph Lunngren to play Ivan Drago?
So true. I’m a millennial woman who so wishes men were real like Rutger today. Unfortunately most men here are like wet blankets thank God I’m married to a real man!
This jamper is very Majora's mask like, though it obviously hasn't come out at time of this video. Maybe devs got inspired at some point and used as base for future game's design

He just look so PERFECT. Even in his old age, he's still looks and speaks perfectly. It's like he's magical or super human.

The only guy as charming, playful, witty and self conscious as a certain David Bowie. And he's an intelligent person obviously

He looked very very much like the late Cars bassist / singer Benjamin Orr. Both gorgeous.
And someone you've never met in your life, yet feel like you can make an absurd assessment like that.

I love when he says " ... or Blade Runner 52." Almost...
Blade Runner is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Loved Rutger's character in the film.
haha, the reactions she gave to the camera at the end were hysterical, like a Monty Python sketch.
Ohhh he is gorgeous!
I had a teacher that looked like him, once. I was scared of him, but then I was scared of Hauer immensely when I was little.
Brilliant artist, so gifted and interesting. Can you picture him playing Hannibal Lecter?
he was in talks with the director for that role
He probably would be scarier like anthony
Hauer ottimo attore Rip.in pace.
Guy could have been Flash Gordon with that look.
He chooses his words carefully, and tries to be as honest as possible. Also strikes me as a bit of a secluded, introvert, if not shy person.

he actually right about villain thing. His character is not really a villain. Dekard is the real villain.
