      @@deccyboi4218 A very famous Staunton Gambit was played between Edward Lasker and Sir GeorgeThomas. Sir Thomas was also a badminton fan. His name is on the cup. Thomas Cup. That game can be found on youtube for sure.

    Great advise on making an opening choice e.g. for a while I was playing the Grunfeld and getting good results but I hated the nerve racking middle games. Changing to the Nimzo Indian all is now well.

    GM Ginger; I have been observing your games since 2012. Relating to this video, I used to think 4 moves ahead for Blitz Games, but five is impressive; unless thinking more in advance for other games. I am interested in the new website!

    "Si vis pacem para bellum"
    Attacking is the best defense, slightly older than Bruce Lee, some Roman politicians said this 2000 years ago.

    As a 1650±, hearing people below GM's talking about the evaluation and so on always makes me laugh. How many super GM's lost games where the evaluation was giving a sure win. Countless....

  • @cyteo2305
    @cyteo2305 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If your opponent opens with e4, can you still play the dutch defence? If you can't play dutch in this case, which defense for e4 will you choose to get to your favorite middle game?

    Simon, one of your fellow Chessable authors absolutely craps on the London on his channel. You have done several courses on the London. Do you think it’s a trash opening? He says you can’t learn anything from playing it.

    • @mikoajozarowski5028
      @mikoajozarowski5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      London certainly isn't a trash opening and Andras never said that, he argues it's not optimal for improving players who should expose themselves to a broad spectrum of possible pawn structures rather than play the same type of position over and over.

    • @daneQuixote
      @daneQuixote 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikoajozarowski5028 I've watched a ton of different chess mentors on TH-cam. Pretty much been through them all. I like Andras. That being said, I play London as white and Najdorf or King's Indian as black. I get a bunch of pawn structures and I feel I made a decent amount of progress getting to 2200 blitz and bullet. Worth noting I'm an adult learner who didn't play chess as a kid.

    • @mikoajozarowski5028
      @mikoajozarowski5028 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daneQuixote that's seriously impressive, kudos to you. Well that's Andras' opinion. I think he's right in the sense that you would play more different positions if you chose main line openings instead of London, but on the other hand it can be too challenging especially when your study time is limited.

    I love simons videos, my username is gingergmismyhero after all, but I find I would watch so many more videos if his theme music wasn't so loud. Any time I fall asleep watching one of his videos the next theme song never fails to wake me up so I find I have to watch other chess TH-camrs videos around bed time :(
