    The two bolts in manifold are crazy insane to remove 😂 😂 😂.

    Since you've had them longer than just about anyone I can find, have you had any issues?
    I just haven't pulled the trigger on Amazon fuel injectors. I made the mistake of just replacing the seals on mine when the headgasket was done, but now I've got lean codes occasionally and a rough idle when I pull up at a stoplight in gear especially.
    If I can fix that then I'm ready to go wheeling. Also need to change the injector plugs when I remove the injectors since almost all of them have broken tabs.
    Just don't want to wait the turn around time for mine to be sent off, and wondering if these are going to last.

      Well, they are still going strong! I also changed both O2 sensors and she does run a little rich, but I’d rather have it run rich than lean. Overall, I’d do it again.

    Dan You have my sympathy. my #1 injector is leaking and about to rip into this myself. I too tried to leave the air together but you saved me a bunch of time knowing this ain't happening. well here i go. hopefully i'll be done in a day too

      Thanks! I kind of wish I would have just sent mine out for rebuild and installed new seals. It runs a little rich now. I think the new injectors are a bit bigger. Oh well

      @@danedwards7597 7 hours all for a crushed O-ring gasket at the top of #1 fuel injector.
      Your absolutely right Dan, no short cuts here. My Calves are killing me as my 80 is on 37's.
      Understand the want for an LS after this. All for a $21 overpriced by the way 3 gasket kit.
      Can't imaging what a shop would have charged too. My hand look i lost a fight with a rabid cat.

    On the EGR assembly, the studs need to be removed to get it off. Use a #6 (maybe #8) female torx bit. When you bolt things back up, use a bit of anti-seize in the event you need to get back in 25 years from now :)

    Have the same issue currently. Throws a missfire code at idle, clears up with some rpm. Hopefully the new injectors will solve that when i get them in.

      What CEL is it throwing?

    • @danedwards7597
      @danedwards7597  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      mine threw a 26, which is rich mixture. I used a OBD1 reader belonging to a friend on mine and the voltage reading from the O2 sensors was telling the computer it was too rich, so I believe the O2 sensors are working correctly. I read on IH8MUB forum that a guy was having similar issues and he unplugged his O2 sensors and his started running fine. I'm going to try this next.

    Thanks for filming this. I was wondering if you were getting hard starts/hesitation to start when the engine is warm? I have an LX 450 and I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what part to replace. I'm not getting a code but for some reason, it cranks fine when the engine is cold, but when it's hot it will start then stall immediately and refuse to start after. I can smell rich fuel when this happens. I thought it would be a an egr problem, mine was a little stiff, but I've changed that and I still have this problem. I was trying to lookup fuel pressure regulator problems and your video came up. Even though yours is injector related I thought I'd ask if my symptoms sound like yours. It would really help me to narrow this down.

    • @Julianconanhernandez
      @Julianconanhernandez 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not throwing a CEL?

    • @danedwards7597
      @danedwards7597  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, mine was running rich at idle and the oxygen sensors were telling the computer they were sensing a rich mixture, so I figured the injectors were likely leaking (dripping) fuel. After changing the injectors, it seems to run better, but it seems to run even richer than before. The rubber o-rings sealing the injectors to the manifold were hard and stiff, and had been leaking, but I still have a rich running problem.
      I'm getting frustrated and really just want to LS the dang thing!

      I did throw a check engine light, but after driving it a while at moderate RPM's, it would clear itself.

    Great video. About to do the same for my FZJ80. Been debating cleaning them + replacing the o-rings vs buying new. How has it been driving since your replacement?

    • @danedwards7597
      @danedwards7597  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s definitely running better. I was going to just send mine out for cleaning, but I didn’t want to wait for the turnaround time. I think it was worth all the labor time to change them for me. I’m still planning an LS swap. I already have a LM7 5.3L I need to rebuild.

      Next I have to mess with the wiring harness where it goes by the EGR pipe on the drivers side firewall. Apparently it can get too hot and melt the wires and cause a misfire. Always something! But I still love my 80!

    • @danedwards7597

      Maybe 1 mpg better, but it was still worth it since the old injector seals were leaking. I also used a non oem injector so it’s likely running richer than the stock ones.
