They are all outstanding musicians. Trombone Pider reminds me somewhat of J.C. Higginbotham, with his wild, explosive temperament. The clarinetist with this fine Albert instrument sounds like Omer Simeon, of Jelly Roll Morton fame. The trumpeter is my absolute favourite. An impeccable phrasing, fine technique, sophisticated taste. Like a mixture of Buck Clayton, Bobby Hackett, and Ruby Braff.
The clarinettist is playing a boehm system instrument. The instrument mistakenly referred to as Albert system in the USA was an improvement on the Mueller system, it was designed by Belgian Adolphe Sax, whilst working in Paris. Fellow Belgian Albert made some very fine instruments using the Sax system often referred to as simple system in the UK. I love the sound the chap on the video makes.
