In my mind Joey is without a doubt the greatest drummer of my generation if not one of the greatest to ever live. His drum fills and double kicks are absolutely out of this world. I almost viewed him as some sort of deity, in my ignorance as a young gun I couldn't help but almost view him as immortal. This news really hit me hard. I had no idea he left slipknot for the neurological disease that appears to of taken his life. I am thankful he went quietly in his sleep.

He was definitely that. And holy shit, his drumming…. I wrote a documentary called God is a Drummer, that I sold to a production company and when I was writing it, I must have listened to hundreds of drummers around the world, but I can safely say nobody sounded like him. thank you Robb!!! your the best... im very greatful to have met you back when you were touring on the Burning Red album - 1999. At this time i was only 18 years old and wearing a Soulfly shirt. I kept saying to myself, Rob probably hates me LOL. My best friend Pascal, invited me to come see Machine Head at the Masquerade in Tampa FL. Me and him were in a band together, I guess you guys were friends back in Oakland Ca. I just remember, being there in aw behind stage with you guys. The tour was with Coal Chamber and Slipknot. While hanging out, I got to meet a few members of Slipknot. One of them being Joey and Mick. At the end of the night, after a few "brown eyes" lol, you invited us to come to the next show at House Of Blues in Orlando. This was probably the highlight of my life... finding myself on your tour bus completely starstruck lol. Sid and his roady had some punching game going on. the guys were just knocking the shit out of each other. Randomly the dudes from Slipknot kept coming on to your bus to say what's up, talking about how their bus completely sucked and no room to hang. This memory is just so vivid in my mind. I'm 41 this year, can't believe how fast time has gone by. And what a time that was, really.. Thanks for sharing your stories! I had dreams for many years that this is what Im gonna do for forever. \m/

Robb, this was one of the most amazing tributes I’ve heard (with the added bonus of discovering your channel). Such an awesome story to hear. In 98, I was 18 and a new drummer starting out in band so by 99 Slipknots first album came out. Joeys drumming was a game changer for me, driving me to push myself harder and to really express myself behind the drums. He was such a massive influence for me and continued to do so for the 15-16 years I played shows. Such an amazing musician. Thanks so much for sharing these stories. So amazing to hear and brought back memories since I would go to as many shows as I could back then so all those stories took place during my show going younger years so was extra special to hear. Loved the Nothing Left sorry at Indigo Ranch, def visualized that going down as you told the story. I remember seeing you guys with Slipknot in Boston back in must have been 2006-2007 at a guess but I know the date was Dec 8th because it was Coreys bday, but the entire show was absolutely off the hook. Man I miss those days and all the crazy shows!!!

Heart-felt for memories I breathe a saddened heart... Well spoken Rob- Cheers ..Im proud to have been inspired by the unforgettable moments that are timeless 🤘🤘🤘... I first heard /saw/ met Joey at 99 Ozzfest San Antonio.... I believe Slipknot was the 3rd band on 2ndstage... Joey and James I was around mostlyfrom Slipknot- took me serious about Slipknot becoming as big as "THE NEW WAVE OF ELEMENT" I've been a Fan/maggot what you will since...Slipknot ll is world renowned Universal of Fans shapely... Saw them shortly after that tour 2nd time- introduced my best of friends their groove Austin Tx Backroom at the time of venues... Coal Chamber headlined Love those crazies🤘🤘🤘
"Personally I was like...Dude Slipknot is gonna fit on that stage"hahaha if you wer there -quite a Show🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Story to long life too short R.I.P
JOEY JORDISON: ALWAYS that night had the time for me and fans Played Fukin best as if we wer at Ozzfest in the capacity of the backroom... Dude is a Machine - Miss you my brother
    Thank all 💪😈🤘💚
    WELCOME TO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I was at Ozzfest 99 in KC, July 9. 1st stage headlined by Black Sabbath. Got stoned with Shavo and Daron from S.O.A.D. right outside the Marriott in downtown KC. Saw many bands for the first time including System, Static X and Fear factory.
But unfortunately we missed Slipknot because we had got so wasted the night before, celebrating the chance to meet S.O.A.D. and get them stoned.
Slipknot played very early in the day.
Still a great day, hot as f**k, a tall-can of beer cost $8 bucks. Spent $48 bucks and got a buzz, lol. Smoked a fat ass joint when Black Sabbath played "Sweet Leaf".
Thanks for letting me relive it here.

Awesome podcast Robb. Thank you for this. You took us all back to those moments in time with you and Joey and Slipknot. Had me smiling and laughing and feeling happy hearing these moments. Appreciate you doing this for Joey. Would also be great if you and Jared do some Slipknot covers this Friday for happy hour. Maybe Purity since you said that was the 1st Slipknot song Joey showed you. He would have loved that...you jamming that song. Cheers man...thank you again for this. Been really enjoying your podcasts. It's you being real, and honest, and humble with your fans.

This is the first time I've seen this podcast and this is awesome! Love listening to these stories because literally listening to my teen years. If it weren't for slipknot self titled, Iowa and through ashes of empire I probably wouldn't even be playing music. The other day I watched disasterpieces and then elegies one after the other because still have my original dvds from back in the day. Thankyou for sharing your stories. Rip Joey, Paul and Alexi
