    Eddie Jones is one of my favorite players in 90's NBA. He can score. He can defend. How I wished the Lakers had him, at least, in their 1st championship in the 2000's.

    • @dagameplayer
      @dagameplayer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yeah Kobe at the SF would have been great for them. He just needed to put on a little more muscle and weight for that to work like he did in the later part of his career.
      Then again they could have moved Jones to SF like Miami did when the team put Wade at the SG spot years later.

    • @dagameplayer
      @dagameplayer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      but the Van Exel trade was the worst of the two because they didn't get anything of volume out of that deal. Like really? Tyrone Lue? the Lakers should have been able to get a better starting point guard upgrade. Rod Strickland would have been an amazing fit in Los Angeles.
      Penny Hardaway is another swap that would have been a decent fit imo. Shaq getting to reunite with him and the Magic getting a guy who could come in and get buckets for them alongside whoever the team would put next to him moving forward.
      I personally think Rod Strickland would have been more realistic though, and it would have helped his career big time.

      Lol@ problem...you didn't follow his career? He had a lot of highlight reel plays during regular season games but always disappointed and fell off in the playoffs. Different era wouldn't change that. Very slim for a 2 guard back then, and subpar ballhandling. Very streaky shooter.

      Definitely with a lot of illegal moves that’s not been called now adays, travelling, palming/lifting hop/drop step, step back and among others. EJ would benefit on that because of his quick cat moves and athletic ability, would definitely benefit on the triangle offense, a slasher type of guy, can pop threes, would also indeed benefit in todays game

    According to Rick Fox, when he got injured in preseason, Kobe had to start at small forward alongside Eddie Jones at SG. They played so well together with Kobe putting up much higher numbers than Fox ever did starting. And it was that time when Rick Fox was readying himself to be told that Kobe will instead be starting SF. Except, the next major update was that Eddie Jones was traded and they were all shocked. In terms of chemistry, Jones and Bryant would have played well together, and it would have been nice for Jones to be part of that championship winning team.

      Absolutely. I've always said to myself if Eddie Jones would have polished up his 1on1handles in the halfcourt or showed more confidence off of the dribble under physical pressure like he kinda did in Charlotte I think L.A. would have had more leverage to have been kept 1more year or they'd move him to the 3spot because he was clearly more valuable then Rick Fox , Brian shaw ,and would have gave u more in the triangle offense than Glen Rice's spot up catch n Shoot role. LAKERS Still won 2 more rings after they got rid of Rice .that could've been Jones flourishing in that role since he was a natural 3 and D slasher that can pass which would have meshed in a triangle offense 😳

      @@carlwallace1129 Eddie Jones would benefit on that triangle offense, considering that he is a slasher and can pop up three’s, can also throw a lob or an alley oop which he can dunk.. "Stand up dude" was a phrase that I was looking for but couldn't find. Happy that you saw him at Temple. Now I have to look up Aaron Mckie :) Steely Dan have messed me up with "any major dude" :)

      Not just 25 maybe 30 or more, a fast paced and with a lot of shooting threes in today’s game, plus he can slash and also good at cutting or moving with out the ball

    Fantastic video. Didn't know about Eddie. Clearly a real talent and looks a real team player. When you hear about defensive ability and can then see the offence. The guy wanted to win.

    Respect so much for Kobe. He really worked so hard and eventually earned his spot. He started in a team that was not a rebuilding or at least it was not freely given to him. He worked his way up...

    Into the draft, Eddie was comparing up to Michael Cooper. The knock on him in LA was he couldn’t bring it each and every night. He also wilted a dip in the presence of physically stronger and meaner 2’s like JR Rider. To me, he’s an all time role player because his highlight reel was almost without equal.

    I really wish the Lakers could have found a way to keep Eddie Jones around… he was my favorite Laker of the 1990s. A team with Shaq, Kobe, and Eddie as a defensive specialist would have been tough to match.

    Eddie was an all around really good player.
    VanExel & Jones were on FS1 Ch 49 Las Vegas , every night back in the day before Shaq & Kobe took over.
    I used to watch some 7 , 8 seed Lakers teams because it was the only thing on TV.
    If we were lucky The Bulls would be on Ch. 16 WGN.

    Loved going to the heat games when he was here. They weren't that good so we could get cheap tickets. I was on recruiting duty in Miami and after he was traded away I saw him out while I was in uniform and I went over to the VIP where he was like a fanboy to say what's up. He let me come over and say what's up then he bought us some bottles. He was real cool and I said it sucked he didn't get a title with us and he of course agreed. My Marines we're like don't do it but when I came with those bottles they were good move

    I was a hugh vanExcel and eddie Jones fan ,Jones was a 3 and D slasher ahead of its time with his elegant finishes at the rim and strong dunks in traffic.A willing passer and great overall team player. Kobe was like the ultimate bridge between VANEXCEL and Eddie Jones with kobes athleticism ,dynamic ball handling ability from the 2spot along with extraordinary counter moves,clutch shot maker, volume scorer and acrobatic above the rim finishes and dunks. Kobe was like the Smart Phones that eventually fazed out the Payphones and Landlines cordless phones =Eddie Jones =the classic swingman.

      The Black Mamba came the rest is history? How old are you. The Lakers were Shaq's team from the moment he signed with LA. In the playoffs Eddie Jones went from an all-star averaging 17ppg to role player averaging 10ppg after those two pathetic showings in 1997 & 1998 his days were numbered

    Wish he was not traded. He could have been the scottie pippen Kobe needed. But Kkbe did learned how to defend because of him. The trade I believe was needed because we got Glen Rice who wqs a better three point shooter
