From what I’ve heard(at least in AZ), when you register any full auto firearms, you relinquish some rights relevant to your privacy. I don’t want to spread misinformation so I won’t say too much, this is just what I’ve heard. But there are ways to get full auto, legally, depending on your state. I don’t see a state like California ever allowing that.
