Once again, thanks Dr. Baruch! I decided today to review the first video I would encounter of your old teachings, and this one came up. I was surprised that it begins by mentioning famine and everyone doing what is right in their own eyes, as we are now actually facing worldwide famine and seeing rampant evil as the norm. I would not want to be guilty of hoarding my wealth, especially as money will not as effective to provide much food in the near future. I am glad the Word of God says we need to faithfully store up treasure in Heaven, and to use our mammon to make friends who will later welcome us into their homes. Blessings from Canada!
Thank you for a new perspective on why Elimelek left Bethlehem. I have always assumed that the famine meant that he could not feed his family and so he went to seek richer pastures. This then raised the question of why their wealthy kinsman (Boaz) didn't help them during the period of the famine. The idea of Elimalek trying to avoid his obligations to his neighbours has given me a new understanding of the passage.
