I happen to listen to this song this past Sunday while watching the BBC Amapiano doccie. I have since been listing to it. This is one the most beautiful music I have heard and blown away by ever and I'm 42 yers old I have never ever felt this way before.
03:13 You’ve actually articulated the simplistic & sublime character of how we as South Africans sing and do things. We believe in a saying that ‘less is more, we try not to over do it but also leave a long lasting impact’.
He is saying the killed my brother as his crying on the song my sibling😣my mother child I have a recommendation for you the 'The soil' an acapella group from South Africa am sure you going to love them
Hi sweetie! This was stunning. Like you said idk what they were singing but it didn’t matter. The feelings came thru. What I enjoyed more than the song was how it made YOU feel. Music has the power to uplift, transform us, give us hope, soothe our souls, make us groove (and have babies Lolol), regardless of race, gender or nationality. It’s a beautiful, beautiful thing. I’ve been on this planet 61 years & seen a lot. Sometimes I get weary. Too much negativity. Too many awful things happening. I decided to rid myself of as much negativity as I could because I want whatever time I have left to be as positive, peaceful & serene as possible. Let me tell you it has transformed me! Yes there are still bad days. But overall, I’m at peace & living my best life. Watching you speak about your emotions after the video brought a huge smile to my face. You are the sweetest girl & you bring EXACTLY what I seek each day in the form of positivity & light. Thank you for that & for being you. Never change sweetheart. See you tomorrow. Much 💜 from the U.S. 😘
You genuinely melt my heart everytime I read one of your comments! Thank you so much for being YOU!!!! Honestly I can’t help but smile eveytime I read your comments because it’s nice to feel appreciated and seen. You are amazing! It’s funny because I feel like we’d get on like a house on fire if we were ever to meet! Have a beautiful day 🩵🩵🩵 P.S Stay positive x
Hello! This was absolutely beautiful. PURE music, no instruments needed. Maybe this was how it sounded before any instruments were made? The structure here was so very different, THAT'S what made be think along those lines. Very nice to see how you reacted to it as well, staying true to what you've been saying about your musical preferences. Take care, Adrianna 🙂 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
The song translates , ( They Killed Sipho , my mother's child ,....beeeh buummm...my mother's Child) its a very sad song , as most SA songs , they hold a history behind them its not just a typical song repeating the same thing, maybe when you listen to it now knowing the meaning it will take you where it's taking them as they sing it... Welcome to South African Content... prepare your mind to be blown as you keep reacting..much love😃🥰😍😍
You’ve hit it on the nail. For some of us who were born on a year of the start of the democratic rule; when I listen to such songs It always reminds me of the traumatic stories that my parents still share to this day on how life was difficult in the Apartheid Era. The trauma that they still carry with them is just heartbreaking.
Wait a second … I think I already know a manana - pretty sure he’s in my chill playlist … didn’t realise he was South African!! Thank you for letting me know and for your suggestion xx
I"m half way through and felt the need to comment on how you react to the song without understanding the lyrics/language. I get the same feeling every time I listent to it irrespective of tons of times I've tuned. The levels of of the melamin are the same with the person undestanging the language. You just gained a subscriber mamas. you will experience the same feeling in 'SOUTH AFRICAN SCHOOL WAR CRIES SONGS' and come back to this comment👌🏽🤙🏽🤌🏽🤍🤍
Wow, music is such a universal language so much that even though it's obvious you don't understand the language, (2:06 onwards) the way your facial expressions were scrunching and emoting it's as though your body was still able to understand, feel & react to the pain in the lyrics through the notes and harmonies of the sad song of mourning. Your facial expressions seemed to be crying along with your African brother's and sister's pain despite the language barrier, it was a magical and beautiful sight to witness. Thank you❤ The song is about losing a loved one to gun crime. The lyrics loosely translated are "They killed him (bambulele), Sipho, my mother's child(Sipho, mtaka mama), they killed him (bambulele)." [which I'm sure you already know them by now😅]
Funeral dirge, emisaries delivering the bad news to the mother of Sipho. Sis you have huge inheritance down here - u come from a long line of traditions, customs. The spirit never lies where yo Soul lives ❤. That is how the death of George Floyd would have been delivered (sorry to say, but cannt help when there is injustice)
Just came across your video love your reaction, music is beautiful and soulful.. i cried a bit.. you may also like to listen to Sun-el and Msaki if you can start with 'ubomi abumanga' you'll be transcended ❤
It’s a very beautiful song. In a nutshell his singing about the killing of his brother “Sipho”. “Mtakamama” meaning my mother’s child. Then he proceeds to cry for his brother and continues to sing they’ve killed his brother his mother’s child. In my view it’s inspired by events that took place in South Africa during the apartheid era where black kids were brutally killed by the police in instances such as the 16 June 1976 killings of school kids by the apartheid police. The crying singing style I also believe it to have been pioneered by the late Mariam Makeba who was a prominent singer during that era in South Africa.
The reason i love the language called music is the fact that you don't even have to understand the singer's language, I sometimes find myself jamming to Russian music 1944
The song is quite soulful itself, it's a song about a sibling mourning a death of a young soul who was gunned down, lyrics are in Xhosa/Zulu.... Translation of lyrics is... BAMBULELE (they killed him) SIPHO (a Xhosa and Zulu name which means Gift) MNTAKA MAMA (my mother's child).. Let the sister cry because that bass is out of this world and vocals are very touching as well, and that's soulful.
To school you a little bit, as beautiful south africa is, unfortunately the aftermath of apertheid, the inequalities and injustices towards the black and Coloured community (yes in south africa we have black and Coloured) has given birth to a lot of crime and recently gun violence is becoming rife in the township, in south africa we call it kasi (township is a ghetto which feels more like a concentration camp), as a result almost everyday we mourn a death and music is our healer and how we express ourselves
They say in my language " IsiXhosa asitolikwa" which means ISiXhosa, which is a SA language cannot be translated. This song is beyong powerful, it is a WAR cry. "Bambulele Sipho, bambulele mntaka Mama, ngesibham" this is the first part, directly translated it means " They have killed Sipho, they have killed my mothers child, killed him with a gun"...
Hits the soul doesn't it, that melanin connection mama ❤
South Africans will just kill you vocally, raw talent, no expensive voice trainers needed it's all natural👌🏾❤️

When they start singing you feel an emotional volcano erupting 🌋🔥🔥. The bass vocals did justice to the whole piece
This is a crying song - bsambulele means , they have killed my mother’s child , his is Sipho.

This is why I love music. You have no idea what the song is about and yet it still evoked such powerful emotions from you. What a gift
What a gift indeed! That’s the same reason I’m so obsessed with music! Powerful stuff it is! 😅🤍

Please do “before by The Soil”
They killed him with a gun sipho my sibling
lol, direct translations never loved us… mntaka-mama means, my mothers child (sibling). The context is in an endearing form.
@@SoulSessionSundaysI would think live shows of the soil are better than the recording ❤
