Another AWESOME video Ian! Gotta love quality names on sale. Missed seeing Pepsi down here. Will be adding! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Hope the Idaho winter is treating you well
Thanks for your kind words and longtime support!!! It really is great to see the quality names on sale. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas! Yes, Idaho winter is amazing so far. (Disc: I'm long PEP)
I think interest rates (or fears of them rising) are keeping O in check and the explosion of weight loss drugs have put PEP on a diet. That said, I am adding to both right now and like you, I remind myself "the only consent in life...is change". Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
That is a really great point, my friend. The reason I invest in these companies is their ability to adapt and grow in times of change. Change is always constant. I like that! Wishing you and yours an amazing Christmas and New Year, too! (Disc: I'm long O and PEP)
Iv been buying SCHD, JNJ , PEP all year as part of my DCA. I have been making larger buys of these as they trend down. O is now on my buy zone as well.
Ian what about Kenvue which was spun off by JNJ? It was the consumer goods portion of JNJ and pays 3.77% div now. So you get a bit higher div than JNJ and have all of the bulletproof products JNJ developed the brands.
Thanks for sharing! That's an interesting one to consider. When JNJ spun off KVUE, my understanding is they still kept a stake in it (that's why JNJ shareholders never got shares, yet at least). So, via JNJ, I've got exposure to KVUE. For now, I'm ok with that, given my tremendous exposure to CPG. However, I get exactly what you are saying. The higher yield is nice, and you can't beat that JNJ portfolio of brands! Wishing you all the greatest. (Disc: I'm long JNJ)

Thank you for a great post Ian. Long time follower. May I ask for your opinion on these 2 please? QDTE & XDTE. I bought a few shares of the QDTE on the dip. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope your children have a lot of fun with the gifts.
You may have just bought my JNJ and PEP, Ian... We held those in our taxable "excess money" account and needed a dependable family car... We will be paying ourselves back, but they look like they're at an attractive price right now! Always appreciate you sharing your journey.
Russ, I TOTALLY understand the importance of a dependable family car. I hope you are really enjoying your new car this holiday season!!! And, I'm hoping that JNJ and PEP stay cheap (and maybe even trend lower) for a long time to come. Wishing you all the greatest, my friend. It truly has been an honor getting to know you a bit via your videos/comments over the years, and your support means the world. Hoping we get to catch up at Starbucks Reserve Chicago one of these days and chat about dividends and life (it's on my bucket list). (Disc: I'm long JNJ, PEP, and SBUX)

I don't mind K-1s, but I do get a little overwhelmed with having to manage K-1s from multiple states (for those MLPs that have operations across various states). For me, the scale of the position would have to be a very large holding to make that worth it. (I'm not ruling it out.) For now, I'm actually adding a little CVX, as it's come down in price again and it's treated as a qualified dividend. Wishing you all the greatest! (Disc: I'm long JNJ, O, and CVX)

It's great to see an update! I am also buying some O right now. Will you be buying more aggressively it goes below $50? I definitely will be! I love Pepsi also, but it's still too expensive for me right now. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Being a REIT (real estate investment trust), GAAP EPS (and therefore PE) can get skewed due to deprecation (a non-cash "cost"). Because of this, many analyze REITS based on FFO (funds from operations) and, even better, AFFO (adjusted funds from operations). When I take current O price and divide by company-projected AFFO for 2024, I get a "PE equivalent" of 12.82. From my analysis, they seem to be trading at a value range (for me at least), and have sufficient AFFO to cover their distribution. (Disc: I'm long O)
