Great review totally spot on. I hate I watched it before seeing your review.
Sounds like the synopsis was great. Like it could be a serious drama with some character and nuance. Soon as I hear a big puppet is introduced though, it would seem like a complete shift in the tone and approach. Damn, and I was looking forward to this lol
At first, I was willing to go along with the idea of the muppets relationship with the main character but after a while , it just wasn’t fitting well with the narrative.
@@MovieFiles have you ever watched “Kidding” with Jim Carey? It’s a similar concept, sans missing child but involves a kids tv show and a Mr. Rogers-like character. It was a super-underrated show. I was hoping this would’ve been something like that.
I remember a speaker telling me, don't try to run the world. He said the biggest mistakes of a writer is tacking every issue. It was annoying seeing this in 800-page novels in the 80s. Now, there is less time and more tropes in miniseries.
Yeah this show tries to take on way too things ideas and ultimately fails at saying anything.

I watched it and I think it was worth my time.
There was definitely a LOT going on in this series. It managed to keep my attention. I binged and enjoyed it with some popcorn
On point. I stopped the last episode half way through, my patience was gone.
The series had a lot going on just like teal life thats why I loved it. Dont like your review.

I was really excited to see it and it started off really good but ultimately lost me halfway through.
@@MovieFiles not suprised. i've started lost hope on netflix shows back in 2018. i don't know how to react to them anymore. they get worse and worse as big names get involved. kind of fed up with them at this point.🙄
some of them are beyond hopeless...
Show could’ve been great if they had found a way to write the parts back into a unifying theme of some kind, but yeah. It just failed to say anything at all.
I agree with you so much. The script was pretty weak and I found all the characters unlikable. It tries to speak on topics but doesnt go enough in depth on any of them. Some plot holes i noticed:
1) what happened to yuusef?
2) when the underground caves were being cleared why was vincent not kicked out as well?
3) who left the detective the note with the homophobic slur?
4) how did william get aids and not give it to the detective?
5) why is vincents recovery so simple and if he feels he should apologize to everyone for his behavior why is his dad the enemy?
6) how did edgar survive the fall?😅
Exactly how I felt. Waste of time. I did not even like the character of the kid.

I’m born and raised in nyc j love the accurate depiction of nyc and the nypd. Oh and the grimmer subway too lol
The writers had so many "issues" they wanted to bombard viewers with that they forgot to write a coherent story with fleshed out characters. It was a tedious mess.
It was a pretty good show
Not to be that guy, and I'm all for diversity......but is there ever just a regular straight black guy anymore? It's like the diversity stops when it comes to just a normal black American male. Either its a dated "hood" stereotype or they are a different orientation. We get it, everyone wants to be represented but at this point it's almost a joke how often it happens.
I agree to a point but everyone needs representation.....
@kevinwashington7311 I definitely agree but in world of curated algorithms as a normal black american male you would think I would get a lot more of myself marketed to me....but that's not what u see, u see an almost intentional pushing out. And when they do have the roles for them...they often go to non American black males....in roles often telling American black male stories.
I say that as a black man not born in america...it's noticeable and weird and a clear shift after Obama. It just needs a little balancing out. I'm not even saying it comes from a nefarious point, it seems more like studios just trying to double down on demographics and who spends/has more disposable income.
@nobodyexceptme7794 So I again will agree with you! I was speaking to the front desk person at my gym, who happened to be blk and gay. We debate this very topic damn near once a week. I just wish we had an equal balance of representation because between these Tyler Perry movies and shows like P valley, we need better on the little and big screens!
But black men are rarely depicted as queer. In 100 queer shows there is maximum 10 queer black men. Queer POC have always complained about the lack of representation. This series provides us with a black queer man that is far from the stereotypes.
I think thats an improvement😊.
@ladb9145 I'm not mad at representation, I can't say I watch queer/LGBT shows. I'm just saying as a normal straight black man....I don't see a lot of us represented in media these days. Just about every straight (especially dark skinned) black character i see these days ends up having an LGBT bend to it. Nothing wrong with that but there definitely seems to be push after obama/black panther era to take the image of the straight black man down some. I'm interested to see how they let Anthony Mackie cook with Cap 4 and I'm interested in seeing more than just him and MBJ getting roles as a Black American leads. Almost Hodge is getting some shine, it's not like there aren't any.
I enjoyed the show. It was very good.

Yeah this one didn’t work for me and it was disappointing watching as it got worse as it went along
I stopped watching it, episode 1 when I saw the black detective making out with the older guy in bed for no apparent reason r. What was the point of that? Feels like an agenda is being forced on us through tv shows. It's not for me to consume. Same with The Last of Us and many other shows. Sad to see, I'll rather continue playing Elden Ring until something else good comes up!
Totally agree - by the end i ended up hating the wife and the son - I think that is the definition of failure right there :)
