Thank you JW for standing in all that rain to get this video for us of lil Stormy..I know the lil fella is happy enough at the moment but I am worried about his future..he has those abrasions from his lil body dragging on the rough floor..but his mom can't keep carrying him and as he gets bigger his body will automatically drag even more..I wondered if it would be easier to ride on moms back..as he gets bigger I'm worried he is going to get bullied and left behind..i know mom is looking after him now but what happens if she has another baby next yr.. I'm not sure I could bear to watch the lil guy struggle after getting this far..it just breaks my heart for him..🇬🇧💞✝️🙏💔😭

Stormy is an exceptionally beautiful baby with those big round eyes. Those two new wounds look like they're from another bite. He's very active and strong, but it's important to get the help of an animal protection NGO to get him tested and maybe operate him so that he might be able to walk again. It has wounds.
Wonder what's going to happen to him. She can't carry him forever and she won't. She'll have a baby next year (or the year after that - moms sometimes skip a year). He seems to have some leg movement from the hips to the knee but not much of anything from the knees down. He would certainly get along better if he rode mom's back instead of hanging under her belly. I've not seen him do that. I know moms often refuse their kids the ability to be carried against the belly as they get older as it puts them in too close proximity of those magical teats and milk. And assuming that he reaches adulthood. He will at some point be ousted from his birth troop. Most males are (exceptions exist but not many). He didn't go after the corn after mom was done with it. I would think that at this age he would be eating some solid food as well as nursing. Does he eat any solid? I know he puts solid food in his mouth but it comes out again whole. He didn't pop that berry thing he was mouthing on. He'll mouth on other things but does he chew and eat?
The abrasions look to be from him dragging when riding with mom and not being able to hold his lower portions up. Time to start riding dorsal i would guess.

If stormy’s back legs never regain full function I bet he’ll learn how to walk on his arms and do just fine. He may never be an alpha but he can layer that he can eat

Can I ask? I hope I am not bothering but I simply would like to wonder if this little guy will ever use those feet or is he permanently disabled? Was this a birth defect? Did he take a minor fall? Or was the birth hard therefore pinching a nerve? Thank you very much your videos like arroz are simply amazing. Good camera work.
JW has a video posted of Stormy pre bite wound. He was perfectly normal. He also has a video showing a distinct bite wound on his back causing the paralysis.
It looks like the mom is always eating, but never shares any of her food with her baby. Mom has a large amount of food sitting in her pockets and you can see her pushing on the sides of these pockets to eat more food but still refuses to share anything with her baby. Are all mothers this cruel?
Someone help me out! What’s wrong with him and does his mom have what looks like a skin condition/injury to her hindquarters, beyond what a female would look like in season and out of it? I can clearly see he has hind limb paralysis. Was this a fall or was he hit by a car? Sadly, as adaptive as they are and he is trying to be, as an adult he will certainly struggle. I would worry so much less if this was a little girl; the way that most females, if not all of them live their entire lives in their troops, they are born into their hierarchy and the fact is, as an infant, she would be higher ranking than any other baby her mom had before. If mom is high ranking, she would be well cared for, doted on and babysat and taken well care of. But, as this is a little boy, at some point, he will get kicked out of the troop and would have to join the bachelor gang or go it alone. And given that he is severely handicapped, he’ll never be able to protect himself so if some group takes mercy, he’ll be at the bottom of the pile. I’m so sorry to say this in a group of viewers that obviously hope for the best, but his days are numbered. Mom will have the overwhelming biological need to wean him and he’ll starve/be injured/not keep up or some other inevitable fate. One day, the videographers will turn up and he just won’t be there. He’ll be too heavy for mom to carry around full time before you know it. The biological needs of the infant macaque changes as they age, where nursing alone won’t sustain him, he will have the desire to branch out (no pun intended) and try for independence. I imagine that he’ll most likely meet his demise, falling from a tree because he’s lost his grip and can’t use his feet to hold him. And this obviously happened long after the bond was established. I’ve seen lots of videos and read about mothers who will simply abandon babies at birth or not long after if they have a congenital birth defect or an injury or accident that means a total reliance on their mother. That makes the mother and the troop vulnerable…you’re only as strong as your weakest link, and the infant mortality rate is high in macaques. I’ve seen moms go through a mourning period and then back to filling their faces and mating to produce the next generation. Instincts are strong, and I feel bad for the inevitable fate of this little guy.
Poor b ies the mother is constantly stuffing her red face and the baby is just watching . Mom can't even spare a little scrap while mom has her throat full. How cruel. I guessed that's what happens in that sad life

How cruel. I guessed that's what happens in that sad life
Rhesus monkeys seldom share food with babies, but they are willing to risk their lives to protect a baby even though that is not their own.
She probably won’t survive long she’s too Klingy and depends on everything from mom. Mom can’t carry her forever
Why don't his mom share her food with her baby
Because she's a wild macaque.
