I just want to say that I love the way you've progressed your rig. You never put something on to just put it on and you get exactly what you want and don't compromise. I will be getting a Jeep and this is the way I want to progress. Thank you!
Love my supertop ultra especially as a backseat rider a lot I still get that sun. Had ours installed by a shop with the installed before the COVID hit best purchase I ever made on our Jeep!!
I’ve been looking at these. I especially like how they fold all the way down. Now when I’m close to a large rock or tree, my top isn’t getting destroyed. Thanks for the video. Keep up the great work!
Maaaaan! I'm in SoCal as well and I need to know where this trail is. Absolutely stunning. Love the channel. Gonna be getting the new Bronco & getting back off-road finally.
Love your videos. Those doors are really nice. I think they are the best doors for a Jeep Wrangler. I personally love the fast back look. Your Jeep is great. Keep it up with the videos.
Right on!!! Thank you so much for taking a moment to leave such an awesome comment... I still love that fastback look and am blessed to be able to just try this one for a while!!!!
I currently have a 2 door soft top JK and if I ever have to purchase an other vehicle it will be another 2 door soft top. The two additions I’ve made for just personal comfort are the Wet Okola seat covers and the Spiderweb shade. In the middle of the day with the sun beating down the difference between having and not having that shade is night and day difference. The seat covers are not cheap but my wife really likes them and has told me if they wear out to get another pair. Didn’t tell her, but I would have any way. I enjoy your videos and glad to see you’re discovering the joys of open tops.
Nice top. I also just got the core doors a few weeks back because of your great video on them. I would definitely get this top when ever I need a new one
I know it’s been four years-great video! I was all for the NX Glide but you got me wondering as well. I looked at the whole back is covered with shade and that squar does give an old-school look. When all the way folded down, it is a little bulky in the back, though, that’s probably the only negative.
I missed this one. Still rocking the Bestop Trektop Pro. Fastback all the way. And the high quality, modular design is really sleek. Real glass windows. Rear connectors for the defrost and a windshield wiper add on. It's a beast! I still get plenty of compliments on it. I haven't seen anyone else with it, so it brings a little bit of a uniqueness to my ride. And just to add a bit of substance to it's uniqueness, I was the only one with it at Jeepers Jamboree. 👍
Fit and finish is similar... very high quality. Being honest, I like the looks of the Ultra (square back) but much prefer the function of the single "Sunrider" on the Trektop. So it's a mixture of the two would be my perfect top... but I love my Supertop still.
I watch all of your TH-cam videos. I love your jeep wrangler. I'm glad you got a stick shift and black JK. It's awesome! I have a 2002 TJ stick shift in black also, my Dad left me in his will and I thank him for every day. I had to get a new top for mine in 2016. I got a new cheap Smittybilt square back soft top..Next time I get a top I am going to get a Bowless soft top though. I think they look better than the square backs. Especially on a TJ. I love your channel though and it's always cool to see different perspectives on jeep mods. Keep up your badass channel Jason! 👍🏼✌🏼👋🏻
Jason, there are so many options for jeep owners it is really hard to choose. I definitely like square back over fast back and the sun rider for hardtop is on my list. I bought a Bimini top and a lift for my hardtop but it's still kind of a pain to remove and store, your storage option is right on the money. The ease of converting the SuperTop and the core doors to the different configurations is very attractive. You sure have some beautiful real estate out your way, that trail did not appear to be abused either, NICE !! I appreciate you demonstrating products and the how to's it sure paves the way to make decisions without costly mistakes. Thank you
Hey Jason! Man I love your videos. I have a 2017 Sahara JKU and I already added a few small items to my JKU from watching your channel. Now it's time to go BIG. Bestop Supertop Ultra soft top and those cool Bestop half doors coming this Spring and Summer months. Thank you so much! Sorry for biting your style - hahaha
Love it. I'm about to give my 2016 JK 2 door to my oldest, she gets her license at the end of the summer. Definitely thinking something along the lines of this for myself. Love all the videos, and Pinto is clearly my kind of dog. Keep up the great work.
The hills are alive with the sound of Jason. Love the review brother. Still need an explanation from Pinto as to why it’s shotgun in the Mustang and backseat in the Jeep. 🐕
HA! I actually thought that a few times up on that hilltop... Should I be singing right now??? I to am confused by Pinto and her seating preference in different vehicles and totally embrace it...LOL
I’m not too crazy about how the back sticks out over the cargo area when the side and back window are out. I love everything else just not that look. I’ll stick with my Bestop Trektop Pro. Love the videos man, keep them coming.
Thanks for the input and cool way to contribute! I do really really like the Trektop a ton... this one is a very different animal... not as sporty but I'm digging it for now.
Love the description of Safari look. Should look into this for my jku eventually. I love the off doors and roof that I do in the summer, so this would be a great option
Great video Jason. They don't make this top for the 2 door yet. Not sure if they ever will. Any issues with your core doors leaking. I have a set for my 2 door and they leak from the panel insert even after many adjustments. Good think I don't have carpet.
Howdy, my drivers front door leaked when parked on a certain incline in the rain. I called and they sent me a seal kit upgrade and that solved it... took about 20 min to install. email lee@bestop.com to get one! Or see if you can just call customer support.
I think the roof closed (no sun rider) but no doors, and all the windows removed. Awesome! Also, If you keep the roof down and keep the back window in but remove all the side windows, you’ll substantially reduce how much dust gets in
I’ve been patiently waiting for Bestop to do a JL top for the JK! Glad it’s out. Awesome review Jason. Now I know for sure that it’s just that good 👍🏽👍🏽. Do you think Lee @ Bestop would be willing to knock some $$$ off that $2,000 price tag! Lol.
It is pretty nice. Here's what I'm suggesting people do... email lee@bestop.com and see if they might offer a "Pinto the Dog" discount or at least throw in some swag. I'm guessing if a couple folks do that... how can they resist?
My 2012 JKU Sport has the fast back. My sun rider opens the rear seat as well. Bought a set of Smittybilt XRC front/rear bumpers. The gentleman who sold and installed the bumpers made a custom jerry can rack that is on the fast back side of the tire rack. Tucks in the rack for a clean compact look and function
Awesome video. Great scenery! Where is that at ? We don't have mountains in south Mississippi lol. I've been thinking about getting a soft top, because I can fold it back by myself instead of like the hard top where you need a lift or 3 friends to remove it. Love those doors you have too. What lift in inches is on your jeep ? Keep up with the great videos
Thanks! At least look into the Sunrider option for whatever top you have.... It's a game changer for me. 3.5 metalcloak lift on this jeep and lots of videos in the playlist on the channel for ya!
Great video Jason! Question? Are you filming this in Santa Clarita area or Lancaster? I was in the back hills of Lake Elsinore last year with my 13 JK! and the “Super Bloom!” nothing there this year! I like the area you’re trailing in...
This is just north of me near Gorman and Frazier park... I've been seeing many people head up to the poppy fields and thought to try something a bit different!
AutoEdits where was your point of entry to get up there? We live in the area and have been wanting to get up there. Love your channel and look forward to your videos. Keep up the great work.
There used to be a complete package for the core doors to get upper and lower together but I just went to the website and you have to add them individually to the cart. It's worth a call to the help line to ask about that if you are serious about purchasing!
Another great video Jason! I just installed a new to me OEM JK soft top and I’m loving it. What road are you on if you don’t mind giving the coordinates? Would love to ride with the top down next to the poppy fields
Yes, very much. The top does not leak and I've done a few videos talking to the camera inside the Jeep with the top up... including this video. No real wind noise above jeep tires and stuff.
I am so torn, i want the soft top but i also want the Gobi rack. The gobi does pull back but not sure the soft top will work with it. Great video as always Jason. thank you
Due to the fact I have a roof top tent on a rack, no soft tops for me. As well, I find the climate here in Northern Alberta just not suitable for going topless. So it's hardtop for me and my JK. Anyhow, if I were to buy one, it would be the SuperTop Ultra. Don't like the slant style of the Trektop either, a waste of space for what I do. Great vid as usual! Good to see Pinto getting out and about.
Thanks for this great input and interaction... this is what I dig. I totally agree, if this thing stayed my overlanding rig, no soft top needed. Does your roof rack allow room for a Sunrider? I don't remember if my old AEV Brute rack did or not but that would be my only change up. Have a great one!
@@AutoEdits No, not an great deal of room up there. Doubt if I could get the Freedom Tops off without a struggle. The RTT stays on year round as I have no place to store it, so I'm good with the hardtop as is. You have a great one as well!
Great review as I have been departing between the SuperTop Ultra and Trektop Glide. I currently have another Bestop (but was damaged during a move). My question are you planning on putting back on your hard top during the winter months?
Howdy! No need to change back to the hard top during winter for me. Last year I did a couple snow wheeling trips with my Trektop twill and it was great. I did notice a big difference with the Core Doors and on winter trips with my dog, swapped back to stock doors for ability to roll the rear windows up and down easily while driving. Otherwise, at this point I'm staying soft top full time!
I got this top around Christmas and it came with the free buy it installed option. I had a hard top on my jk and hesitated to get another after dealing with my yjs soft top. Did a bunch of research and decided to lay out some cash in this. It's still been too cold to get out of sunrider mode with the heater running in NJ.. Hoping very soon I get to play. I actually wanted to write to see where you are driving?!!!! It's obviously not new jersey. 😅 I might take a road trip this summer since everything out here is on Lockdown.
I actually really enjoy it buttoned up and just in sunrider mode... I'm in southern california just north of los angeles so that would be quite a drive for ya!
This top is amazing. Thanks for the video! Wish it wasn’t so expensive lol I bought a suntop and hate it. Wind comes in through the front where it meets the windshield and it’s ridiculously loud.
Sometimes that's the reason other products are a "bargain" Have you looked that the Trektop from Bestop... it's much less than this one and just as the fastback option.
@@AutoEdits I Will have to check it out. I was looking for one that makes taking the top off an easy and quick process and the one in your video would be perfect but I will check that one out also. thanks for the reply!
Jason, that was a beautiful trail and very helpful video. I've been looking at upgrading my soft top for a while and your video just pushed me over the edge. In fact, I think I'd like to go full hog with those doors and that hardtop rack as well. Do you mind sharing those component parts?
Sure thing! Here's the video for Core doors th-cam.com/video/Sar0b1DCQHI/w-d-xo.html and this one has the Hoss cart in the description th-cam.com/video/diW56_vWPoM/w-d-xo.html
Thank You for your review of this soft top. I was trying to decide between the Trektop and the Supertop Ultra. Your video really helped to firm up my decision. Wasn't really sure about the look of the "Safari" look initially, but the more I watched your video the more I liked the aesthetics of it. So, I ordered my top and got it installed on my 2018 JK this past Sunday . . . and I think it looks awesome! You're right about the "stack" when you open it up. It does cut into how much you can see out of the rear-view, but think it won't take long to adjust to it. And I did send Lee an e-mail like you suggested. Unfortunately I had already ordered my top by the time he responded so I was not able to take advantage of what he included in his response. Already thinking of doing the upgrade on the exhaust system next . . . !
I've been running the Supertop Ultra for almost a year now. Love it. The only complaint is that my Bestop window storage bag for my OE soft top no longer works. Would definitely like to hear if they have a solution for window storage in the works since the rear corners will not roll up. For now I have to leave them at home when I go safari mode since I am also running the Tuffy storage deck. Not really an optimal solution when the weather men around here can't accurately predict the time the sun rises much less the weather.
That does pose a bit of a puzzle... I'm not sure and will spend more calories on solutions. How do you like the Tuffy setup otherwise? I thought about that but then realized I'd have no place for my ARB fridge. Hmmm.
@@AutoEdits The Tuffy rattles but it is nice to have as it create a "trunk" space when I have my top back or in Safari mode. I do have to keep box height in mind when packing. I am currently thinking about going a different route to get a platform that would allow for taller objects back there, however, the one I have is somewhat easy to remove when I need the space.
AutoEdits oh I know all about it. I have owned my YJ for 20 years. It now has a 15” body stretch and 21” wheelbase stretch. The body was made to accept an LJ top. It’s a lot more work to make the trek top work in my case, but I love the look. I also hate all of the bows related too older Jeep tops.
Do you think the casters on your hardtop cart would roll through grass very well? I'd like to store it behind my garage but have nothing but grass back there.
Great video 👍 Do you smell much exhaust in the last 2 modes? I had a 70s wagon with a two piece tailgate, and the exhaust fumes got sucked into the cabin when driving with the top tailgate open 🤣 Thank you from Australia 🇦🇺
Would it suck to swap this soft top in and out for the summer months? I like my hard top but I want the versatility of a soft top for when I go to the lake and stuff!
I've watched this video like 5 times! And was the deciding factor in which top to purchase. Love my Bestop Supertop Ultra. Waiting on some ideas on how to store the windows. I have some moving blankets that I layer over them and store flat for now, but would love a solution! Tell Pinto hello from me!
Quick question, I just purchased a 2019 Sahara and it has the Bestop Fastback already installed. When I put the top from safari/bikini mode to all the way down, I was told there was suppose to be a lock to keep it in place. I've watched many videos on where the lock/unlock lever is in the trunk but I cannot seem to find it anywhere! I noticed you did not use a locking lever when you put it completely off. With these tops, is there no need to lock it in place when all the way down? This is my first jeep and I'm very new to this lol any feedback would be appreciated!
Howdy and welcome to Jeeping! There's no real lock but it did come with some velcro straps that hold it down tighter in the convertible mode. So just get some from Lowe's and you'll be good to go! The lock lever is just to go from safari to convertible and it floats in convertible until you strap it down.
Thank you for the video. Like you, I was very confused on which top to get for the JL. TBH, The SuperTop wasn’t even on my radar until now. I have 2 large GSD’s who could use the space in the back. I’m just concerned about the window storage now.
I love my trektop. I’m not a fan of the squares off look, and I’m definitely not a fan of the bikini look of the super top ultra. I don’t like how the flat portion goes over the cargo area. I love how the trektop looks in bikini mode, how it ends right when the roll bar slants. But despite all of that I definitely regret getting black diamond. Should have spent the extra and got the twill. Big mistake on my part.
It's all good man... this whole jeep life thing is all about the process and personal preference. I agree that the look of the Trektop bikini is very sporty and I love the simplicity of it and may go back after a few trips with this thing... don't know yet.
Dude you don't like the Safari mode? I have this top and it's awesome for pop up showers, also we need the extra space in the back. But hey, Jeeps are just awesome so whatever makes you happy is the way to go!
I just ordered the same top for my 16JK. Can’t wait to get it installed. I also love the Core doors you have. They will be a very near future purchase. The door upper matching the top make the whole package look awesome. How fast have you driven with the sun rider open? Was the top noisy when at freeway speeds? Did the top flap around or stay in place? Keep up the great vids! I will be watching them all again.
I drove home about 75 with the sunrider open and it seemed fine. The airflow in the cabin with the safari mode and sunrider closed is amazingly good as well. Just all fun so far.
i have the earliest version of the TrekTop from when it first hit the market. The side panels can't be removed on mine. I had to use the supplied door surrounds, which are a rod material. While I wish I had OEM door surrounds, what I have does the job. I also only have my original freedom top. While, yes the fastback looses cargo space, I like my TrekTop. I need a spreader or support to bow the top a little and promote water runoff. Other than that, I have no real complaints. Now for what I'm seeing on your video, I do like what they did with the frame. THat is an easy deal to work out. I would not mind having one. But. Priorities come first.... and neither one of my tops are in bad shape. :-/
One of the very few channels I can watch from start to finish without skimming through or hitting fast forward. Thanks for the years of content dude
Wow, thanks!
I agree. Very informative and enjoyable to watch. Great Job! Can't wait to watch more of your videos.
I just want to say that I love the way you've progressed your rig. You never put something on to just put it on and you get exactly what you want and don't compromise. I will be getting a Jeep and this is the way I want to progress. Thank you!
Well said!
Jason, your enthusiasm is infectious!!! I love the positive vibes from the channel. Keep the vids coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Love my supertop ultra especially as a backseat rider a lot I still get that sun. Had ours installed by a shop with the installed before the COVID hit best purchase I ever made on our Jeep!!

After my front axles, gears swaps, Beadlocks and Toyo 37s.......this will be next. 3 more Jeep payments. Good job making this video.

Hi Jason, I am also follically challenged, I use a Spiderweb shade that stays on all summer long and it makes for a whole different experience.
Great tip!
Nice top. I also just got the core doors a few weeks back because of your great video on them. I would definitely get this top when ever I need a new one

Good choice!
How would you compare this to the trek top??

Thanks! At least look into the Sunrider option for whatever top you have.... It's a game changer for me. 3.5 metalcloak lift on this jeep and lots of videos in the playlist on the channel for ya!
Beautiful. What trails was this through the mountains? Keep up the great work 👍🏿
I actually don't know the trail name. Just the hills by the 5 fwy near Frazier Park.
JASON, looks like u still need a tailgate table. I’m excited to see what u come up with. I’ve enjoyed all of ur videos. Jeep wave 👋
Thanks 👍
Love those doors. I looked them up… looks like the the top and bottom are sold separately. Is that right? $999 for the bottoms and $999 for the tops
There used to be a complete package for the core doors to get upper and lower together but I just went to the website and you have to add them individually to the cart. It's worth a call to the help line to ask about that if you are serious about purchasing!
Like the fastback look, but like all the configurations of the supertop🤪
You should definitely check out the PRP seat covers.🤙🏼
Thanks! Will do!
Hi thank you so much for the information…. Could you tell me please what is the red gas can behind the Jeep how did u hang it
I'm jealous of your easy going, on a whim drives. Can't really do that here in Texas.
It's pretty good.
Hey Jason great stuff here on this channel, what trail is that your on looks like a great place to drive and I would like to try it.
It's not really a trail but look at google maps between Gorman and Frazier Park for some clues.
Another great video Jason! I just installed a new to me OEM JK soft top and I’m loving it. What road are you on if you don’t mind giving the coordinates? Would love to ride with the top down next to the poppy fields
Howdy and thanks! That's up past Gorman near Frazier Park, gorman post rd
YES‼️ I Can’t wait to get this on My Jeep‼️
It is so fun... had it open for my suspension test the other day and it was wonderful th-cam.com/video/T6d2UwIfWmE/w-d-xo.html
Can you tell me what trail is this and where? Looks relaxing to visit. Thanx!
It's off of Gorman Post Rd and I just worked my way up to the top.
Do you still enjoy the soft top? Just purchased one for my Jeep. I am nervous about it leaking and wind noise. I’d love your feedback!
Yes, very much. The top does not leak and I've done a few videos talking to the camera inside the Jeep with the top up... including this video. No real wind noise above jeep tires and stuff.
I just installed the JL version on my 2019 Sahara. I love safari mode. Great quality top.
Good choice!
I love that top . Does look really nice in the safari mode for sure . Besides its Pinto approved . Lol . Until next time stay safe and take care .
Will do!!
Great video and love Pinto as always!
Thanks for watching! Scratches for Pinto!
Awesome. Jason I've had soft top since I've had purchased my Jeep must say I like this much better design better than Jeep factory top.
I think I'll be sticking with the soft top life for a while!
A friend in Val Verde is on my list! But not sure Im going to drive it. 🙂
Looks good, I just put on the glide. Quick question, what tag relocation bracket are you using? Thanks, keepem coming
That's the MetalCloak relocation kit... I did a video somewhere on that... th-cam.com/video/1G_gN9LmLHI/w-d-xo.html
Already thinking of doing the upgrade on the exhaust system next . . . !
Love hearing all this! Thank you... Hope you enjoy as much as I do!
Looks good, I’m torn between the two. Thanks for all of the great info.
The great thing about the Jeep upgrades is tailoring them to your taste!
I love the fastback look, but need the accessory room of the squareback.
I'm right on board with this. After putting my ARB fridge in there with the fastback, space got tight very fast.
Love the JEEP videos, please keep them coming! Later dude
More to come!
Do you think the casters on your hardtop cart would roll through grass very well? I'd like to store it behind my garage but have nothing but grass back there.
They don't roll on my deep lawn very easily with the top loaded on it but that would be an easy fix by buying some bigger casters from home depot!
That super top ultra is just ultra super love it i prefer this one to other 👍
Same here!
Great video 👍
Do you smell much exhaust in the last 2 modes?
I had a 70s wagon with a two piece tailgate, and the exhaust fumes got sucked into the cabin when driving with the top tailgate open 🤣
Thank you from Australia 🇦🇺
Nope, no exhaust smell at all.
@@AutoEdits that is great news
Thank you 🙂
Would it suck to swap this soft top in and out for the summer months? I like my hard top but I want the versatility of a soft top for when I go to the lake and stuff!
I just run it year round and it's been really good. It would probably take less than an hour to swap back and forth.
Where are you driving off road at? That is super awesome....dig the top an the drive!
That's between Gorman and Frazier Park.
Wow I'm in indiana an your in paradise!
Jason we need some more podcasts please.
I'll call Art up and see if we can swing that!!!
wow, I hope I can build my Jeep to be as nice as yours one day
You can do it!
Good to see you’re still at it. My favorite is still your solo trip to Striped Butte with the rooftop tent. Be safe out there!
Thanks! Will do!
Great to hear! Seriously, thank you!
Time for a spiderweb shade with that sunrider...trust me a great investment
Great suggestion!
@@AutoEdits awesome I’ll do that! Thanks for the quick response!
How r u liking those milestar tires so far? Thinking of getting some for the JKU
Love them. A lot.
So it's 2023 I need to replace my 16 OEM top. Would you recommend after 3 years?
i have the earliest version of the TrekTop from when it first hit the market. :-/
Hey, life will let you know how it will go sometimes!
