I recently ran across the KJV store. I have already ordered three bibles from there. What has helped so much in my decision making process are these reviews that you do. Thank you very much for all your help and God Bless You 😊. To me you have golden voice and that is a great plus in listening to your reviews. Have a great day!
Thank you for the review. I was trying to decide if I wanted to get a new Scofield or another study Bible. I might have to get one of these. I see so little information about the Ryrie study Bible compared to the others.
First book I suggest people get. How To Read a Book..... It will help you so much. As it teaches you first to establish context about the subject and the person telling the story...Something I wish I had done before taking on the KJV. Which is probably the best Bible version produced. As you don't have to read Shakespeare to understand it.. I still got mine form 1978 with gold leaf edges..... it's 47 years old. I have highlighted in the pages. But it still looks new but can tell it's been read.. They are meant to last a lifetime...I might have to order one of these. To pass it onto someone else...
Hi yes i am looking for a good study bible tha is easy too understand i am hungrey for the word an i was looking at the ryrie an the thompsan chain can you tell me what the best one could be with those
Thanks for your comment. As you will see when we receive similar comments or questions on our other videos comparing one Study Bible or another, we try to never recommend a certain KJV Study Bible over another. The Ryrie and Thompson Chain are very different and both excellent and powerful in their own ways. The Ryrie is a more traditional KJV Study Bible with commentary and references as shown in this video. It's been popular for many decades. The Thompson Chain is more of a "Reference" Bible focused on the Chain-Reference System as shown in that video: th-cam.com/video/hNwbl77qAS8/w-d-xo.html The Ryrie may be easier to understand in the sense that it Dr. Ryrie explains the Scripture on the same page you are reading it. The Thompson Chain gets more in depth as you turn to the various chain references and Scripture examples. Both are excellent KJV Bibles and some of the best-selling too. Blessings.
I got this bible for me today as a Christmas present. I noticed Dr Ryrie mentioned studying paragraphs is important i agree. I didnt notice any of the old school pilcrows in the bible. Is there another way the bible breaks down paragraphs if not its ok ill add them myself lol
While we are careful with our use of the term "Authorized" when it comes to KJV Bibles: www.thekjvstore.com/help/#authkjv Yes, the Ryrie has an excellent and trustworthy KJV text: www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-ryrie-study-bible/
@@TheKJVStore thank you so much for the links. I live in South Africa and English is my second language. I was not 100% sure about the differences between the various KJV's. I agree that some of the modern word changes are great and help a lot. Thanks again for the links. God Bless.
I have a chance to get a 1978 KJV Ryrie covered in goatskin. Does the 1978 differ much from the newer Expanded edition? I don't care about extra maps and topical index... Are the extra notes substancial in the expanded vs the old 1978?
We would recommend the Ryrie over the McArthur, not only because we believe the quality of the notes is better, but also because the McArthur is not available in the KJV. Blessings.
Hello. I don't see Expanded Edition on the Bible itself marked as such. I'm new to the Ryrie study bible and wanted to know how to look for the expanded Edition, unless the new ones are all the same. I don't want to buy the wrong one , i like the one you have best.
This is the only KJV Ryrie Study Bible available and is the same one used in the video: www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-ryrie-study-bible.html It does not say Expanded Edition in the title or on the box, but it is the most up to date Ryrie and the same used in our video. Blessings.
1970's New American Standard in my opinion to this date is the best translation for accuracy. I will use a paraphrase where I need clarity. I use a Ryrie now and an Open Bible in KJV
I like the NASB also. I just do not care for the imposed comments at the bottom of the pages. Some i found not to be Biblical. I think Nasb has a Ryrie in the expanded edition now as i like it's closer to Greek and Hebrew than most. I believe they are very expensive brand new though.
+Joseph Dunn While it is certainly not as popular as the Scofield or Thompson Chain, there are those who purchase a Ryrie that will only use a Ryrie and have only every used a Ryrie Study Bible. It is laid out very well and remains in demand.
Hey brother , do you know if these are truly Smyth Sewn ? I've looked around on other sites and nobody shares that info ....Other than Christian book which says "Glued" binding. Even Moody Press doesn't share if its Smyth Sewn . I know this is a really old review so I'm wondering if all the current stock is is now glued ? My main concern is that ive seen odd hybrids before with Nelson products from the early 2000s ... They do this weird looking glued text block that actually looks like they are stitched but in reality they are not. Brother Zack from Bible Fanatics did a review recently of his KJV Ryrie and its glued ?
Thanks for your comment and sorry for the delay in responding. The first thing to distinguish is that a bible can have both "smyth-sewn" pages AND still be a "glued" or Paste Off binding. Most of the good publishers (ourselves included) still GLUE our smyth-sewn book blocks or pages into the bindings for extra reinforcement. Specifically though on the KJV Ryrie as of May 2022, the official word from Moody Publishers Customer Service was this in quotes: "Unfortunately we did receive some complaints in the last few weeks, so we reached out to our printers in Italy. Turns out, there was a mix up and the Ryrie KJV Bibles were not Smythe Sewn, but glued. However, the NASB bibles are Smyth Sewn. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused." So that is unfortunate, but you also mentioned the Bible Fanatics video of this: th-cam.com/video/-nd4RNsqzNs/w-d-xo.html In that video, the binding seems to lay very flat and be good quality for a paste-off binding (as opposed to edge-lined binding) and even though the pages are not smyth-sewn. I'd say the quality in that video is better than the one in our Ryrie Video (which was done in 2016). As such, I would personally have no hesitation in purchasing the current KJV Ryrie Edition, which is available here: www.thekjvstore.com/kjv-ryrie-study-bible/ Thanks as always and God Bless, Len Williams The KJV Store
The "thread" and evidence of the smyth-sewn pages is not always easily seen or even found in many bibles that are still sewn. That doesn't mean it's not a sewn binding. The one in the video, sitting in my lap as I double check and type this, is definitely sewn. It can be seen at the Presentation Page as shown in the video at the 1:52 mark. Without knowing how old your bible is or any other details, it's hard to say. You might try contacting Moody Publishers directly and asking them about it. God Bless.
Our standard but accurate response to such a question is that we don't recommend any one over the other. We recommend all 3 and have provided an in-depth video review of all 3. It is up to each individual customer to decide which bible they might prefer from there. Thanks for your understanding.
The absense of smyth-sewn pages and an edge-lined binding will always make a bible more susceptible to wear and tear. As long as you handle the bible carefully and delicately, it can still last though. Edge-lined smyth-sewn will always last longer though, and can stand up to more of a beating.
i.e. is the abbreviation for the Latin phrase id est, meaning “that is.” This abbreviation is used when you want to specify something mentioned previously; it can be used interchangeably with “specifically” or “namely.” Here are some examples: “Only one city, i.e., London, has hosted the Summer Olympics three times.”
+mdjjcn The Ryrie without hesitation. Since we are "The KJV Store" and the Ryrie is a KJV Study Bible, that' what we would recommend. To our knowledge, the MacArthur study bible is only available in the NKJV. Blessings.
I have some other requests if you are able to do so. Could maybe please do a review of the National Publishing Company's large print Bible? Also can you please do a review on the Local Church Bible Publishers' Bibles?
From Moody Publishers Customer Service on 9/7/23: "Our last shipment of Ryrie KJV Study Bibles sent from our printer in Italy arrived with glued binding instead of the requested sewn binding. We did not know about this until much later. The good news is that most of the KJV Study Bibles are holding up well." Moody will of course warranty and replace any bibles that have defects or fall apart in too short of a time period. Lord Bless.
Moody Publishers has never made an NKJV Ryrie Study Bible to our knowledge. Even if they did, we would not offer it as we do not sell NKJV Bibles at The KJV Store. Blessings.
Hello, we do not sell a downloadable version of the Ryrie Study Bible. You might check your phone's app store or Google Play to see if it is available. God Bless, The KJV Store
Moody Publishers does not call this new edition the "Expanded Edition" but it basically is. It contains all of the additional notes and features of the now out of print "Expanded Edition" KJV Ryrie Study Bible such as the Expanded Topical Index. It is basically the latest and greatest Ryrie with the most Ryrie notes and features available of any Ryrie ever printed. Blessings.
Compared to a Scofield, this is way better. I don't like Scofield due to the view it has on creation, opens up the liberal thought that the creation could have happened over millions of years, giving lean toward evolution. Nah, I'll stick with this one OR the KJV Study bible.
Good commentaries based on dispensationalism. But almost half of the comments are wasted explaining meanings against KJV translation. Better (translation is) blah blah blah. Don't buy this if you are KJV only.

Excellent review-as usual yours is the most thorough on TH-cam. Like the Old Scofield, this is one that’s stood the test of time for a reason.
Much appreciated!
Thank you KJV Store for reviewing. I use and set store by the Ryrie Study Bible. it's an excellent Bible.

Thanks. Just ordered the hardback. Picked it up for £15 in online sale. The leather one looks premium.
Hope you enjoy it!
Excellent review! Thank you

which study bible does everyone favor ? I like the Ryrie and the older LAB for application today. I wish JMAC study bible came in KJV. Thank you
We'll let other viewers make their own comments, but the LASB is the better-seller. They are both excellent KJV Study Bibles in our opinion.
I like and use the HCSB in king James too. As I love God's word I cannot say which study bible I love more.
