When I first played through this game, Odessa dying so early caught me off guard. She has such a great character design I figured she'd be around for a while, but nope that's not how this series rolls. People can and will die in this series, sometimes because it was fated and sometimes through you - the hero - messing up. It's just another reason why the Suikoden series is so great 😃.
Well... I feel both sad, and relieved in a way. Relieved because I was spoiled this tragic event no sooner than today, and I thought it was going to be a mid-game plot twist. Still, for something like this to happen so soon... Suikoden never fails to impress.
Oh boy, it's time for this. And yes, you were right about the double-beat rune in this game, Lucah, but there is only one that you can get, you can't get two of them. And the one that you can get does need to be pulled off of someone that you recruit later on.
This is hands down my favorite game ever! And just had the urge to watch a play though of it the other day! Wanted to say thank you for the videos it’s been great watching and hearing voices! I can’t wait for the remaster of this and Suikoden 2!
This game is such a nostalgia trip for me. Love every single episode. At this point in the game I always feel SO bad for Flik. Cause he has no idea right now what happened... and Viktor has to keep it from him and ugh~ Step one in the Soul Eater curse... which I always found so fascinating.
Oh, about that "wind" rune piece: It's actually an earth rune piece. Due to some mis"translation"(if you can call it that), earth rune pieces are called Wind rune pieces, and wind rune pieces are called Earth rune pieces. Really confusing lol

I'm not too familiar with English tea terminology.) on the table at 11:21. Unless the localisation team actually added that in, but if so that would be pretty impressive.
I believe you boil water in a kettle then put the tea leaves/bag and boiled water into the tea pot, then serve. Don't quote me on it, that's just how I know it to be done.

It would be good to see in this part 6 of this great game the characters whose history has begun but has not been completed. It is about: * meeting Pesmerg with Yuber, explaining the history of each of them individually, giving the reason for their conflict, and the long-awaited fight. It would be good if one of them was one of 108 characters, it would be even better if we got the choice of which one we want to recruit; * Mazus' duel with Crowley, the solution described above; * access to some maps from previous parts from Capitol City, i.e. Gregminster, Muse and Vinay del Zexay, quests in everyone and recruitment known from previous parts of the characters or scenes with them, possible search for allies and help in Capitol City of each nation needed in the great war with Holy Kingdom of Harmonia; * explanation of what happened to Sovereign Rune, here is a hint from me: the city of Gregminster was located by the sea, so it would be logical to place the cave with the body of Barbaross and Windy and also Barbaross's sword that Sovereign Rune had; * return of Viktor, Flik, Humprey (not necessary), Futch + Bright, Jeane, Templeton, Viki, and others characters with logical history from other parts, of course possible quests with these characters like Futch and Humprey from Suikoden II; It would take a long time to write ideas for at least 300 hours of playing hahaha and it would be enough for two - three consecutive parts, but the above mentioned ones seem to me the most obvious. Of course, the place of play in Suikoden VI would be Nameless Land. Reason? It is closest to Harmonia and is an easy loot for them (as a goal they could choose to expand Harmonia territory), and of course geographically lies close to Zexen Confederacy, Grassland Collecivie, Camaro Free Knights and Nation of Budehuc. The possibilities are incredibly many, ideas for tasks too.
Would someone enlighten me on something? So, Cleo needed to be level 10 before she could use the fire rune, which is what was throwing Lucah through a loop, so then why was the fire rune able to be used in an episode prior to episode 5? Am I missing something? Was it technically a different command? Special conditions? It's been bothering me since the last episode, and I'm not confident I could research my apparent ignorance, because this feels like a REALLY stupid question.
Ruzkiel Depending on a characters level you can do different level spells. Prior to level 10 Cleo could use the rune but only the level 1 spell fire arrows. The reason Lucah couldn't use the rune for a while is because she didn't put it on Cleo because she forgot. Hope this clears some things up.
Technically, it doesn't necessarily matter what level she is: she just needs to have MP high enough to cast the spells listed on it, which is tied to her base magic stat. In Suikoden 1, and I think in the other games as well, you gain MP every time your base magic (before equipment) exceeds a certain threshold, which the game checks for whenever you level up. A character with 16 MGC, for example, has one level 1 magic point, and that's it. A character with over 41 MGC, however, will have three level 1 magic points and one level 2 magic point. It could happen a little earlier or a little later than that depending on the playthrough since the stat gains on level ups do have some randomness to them (a typical Cleo, for instance, will reach 41 base MGC between level 8 and 11, 10 being a rough average).
Yeah, I really liked Odessa, but it's tough to see her pass so early in the story. In the brief time she spent with Tir, she was quite a mentor for Tir, a type of mentor he never had at that point. But now we have to wonder: With the leader of the Liberation Army gone, how will the Liberation Army be able to move on? What will Tir decide to do moving forward? And that music that played with Odessa's death. Oh boyyyy that song........
I'm a bit late but I hope someone answers, so in this game do we not have buyable weapons? Are we stuck with what we have in the beginning and have to constantly upgrade it?
I'm torn between continuing to watch this and pulling this game out of my backlog to play myself, especially since I'm already in the middle of several games.
Looking at it as it's spelt in Japanese, it IS meant to be pronounced "kah-geh". I remember I used to pronounce Geno from Super Mario RPG as "geh-no" instead of "jee-no". I had the opposite problem of Lucahjin. Haha. Oops. I wasn't trying to go for a Japanese pronunciation (I was only like six or seven), but I was probably reminded of the GE in 'get'.
I've been playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. Has anybody ever heard of it? Suikoden kinda reminds me of it with how much backstory there is in its world, and from what I know its characters too. Even some of the NPCs have their own backstory that you learn from talking to them at various points in the game.
I LOVE Trails. The worldbuilding in Suikoden does remind me of Trails. The differences are that each Suikoden game has a mostly standalone plot despite the connections with other games and there doesn't seem to be a obvious overall 'antagonist'

I actually used to have a one handed ps1 controller. Had full button sets and could be used right or left handed. Circle and X were done with the index finger on the back of the controller, triangle and square were on either side of the directional pad, all done with the thumb, then since the shoulder/triggers were rarely used in games it was designed for (rpgs) they were all further down the base, clickable with the same thumb. Great for long sessions where you’d want a hand free to stuff snacks in your face
Suikoden, this one, is a good game. But the main protagonist is so silent that Link or Mario are fire alarms compare with this guy. If we could remove that guy we'll never notice the difference...

Odesssa is my favourite character so far. She's the sweetest. On the first video you mentioned a "game breaking glitch", would that be getting the runes at Sarady? That was intended by the devs... I wouldn't call it a glitch, although it gives you a huge advantage for the early game, later on it gets tougher so it evens out.
Pretty sure that guy's name is pronounced differently. Also Kage means "shadow" in Japanese. Though I'm sure most fans of Naruto or One Piece would know that already.
Rin Jackson There's an arc villain that can control shadows after eating the "Kage Kage no mi" - Shadow Shadow Fruit. Most of his attack names have Kage in there somewhere.
Always hated Odessa for sacrificing herself for nothing. To me, one of the worst characters in all of Suikoden.........I mean, its not like Lady Chris or someone like her would throw away their life so casually......smh
it's funny, I know it's supposed to be Kah-geh, but when I played this as a younger person I didn't know the pronunciation, so I always called him "Cage"... So I still do today! it's a bad habit!
So I haven't finished the episode yet, and yet I feel the need to comment on this. This game REALLY IS aged terribly, as it has an old racist stereotype in it perpetuated by the Japanese. The man who drugs you and then robs you? He's designed to look like he's "chinese" based on old Japanese stereotyping of the Chinese being swindlers, rude and generally unpleasant people who endorse illegal activities. Of course it doesn't take away from the game, but as time went on the newer generations of Japanese people drifted away from those stereotypes. However, the middle aged and elderly still have some people who genuinely believe those kinds of things. Interesting little bit of culture there in this game, but it does REALLY date the game. I am, however, REALLY enjoying this game and just a tiny bit of cultural history like that wont take away from my enjoyment! I'm really glad Lucah decided to play this game, as I've been putting off watching Suikoden II because I wanted to see the first one well... First! I'm so glad that she's playing two games that I really enjoy at the same time (even though I'm blind to both) because that just means I can support her even more! c:

In the scene when Flik was offered drink by an old women (forgot the name), was showing a bottle and cup of Sake, but it was censored into "tea"

The man who drugs you and then robs you? He's designed to look like he's "chinese" based on old Japanese stereotyping of the Chinese being swindlers, rude and generally unpleasant people who endorse illegal activities. Of course it doesn't take away from the game, but as time went on the newer generations of Japanese people drifted away from those stereotypes. However, the middle aged and elderly still have some people who genuinely believe those kinds of things. Interesting little bit of culture there in this game, but it does REALLY date the game.
I am, however, REALLY enjoying this game and just a tiny bit of cultural history like that wont take away from my enjoyment! I'm really glad Lucah decided to play this game, as I've been putting off watching Suikoden II because I wanted to see the first one well... First! I'm so glad that she's playing two games that I really enjoy at the same time (even though I'm blind to both) because that just means I can support her even more! c:
