- Cheryl Zondi made headlines in 2018 when she waived the right to remain anonymous as the first witness in the ongoing rape trial of Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso and his two co-accused.
Here, Cheryl shares her story and reacts to Tweets which highlight some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding sexual assault.

I am watching from the Caribbean and have been since the trial started and I must say I believe Cheryl Zondi 100% not the slightest doubt in my mind that this guy commited these acts that has been alleged and as someone who has been there and has been raped by a man of God I know how that feels to be in her position but I guarantee in this life or the next he will have to answer. Thank God my abuser is dead, he got killed in a car accident two weeks prior to his elevation in the Church, stayec 21 days in the hospital was speaking but never apologized to me. That's how pompous and brazen these people are. I can't stop thinking about it even after so many years. Cheryl I admire and adore you and you are a voice for the voiceless continue to trust and believe God and keep speaking truth to power. God bless! No one knows the pain that we go through....Cheers!

I think you need to take this to schools. Our boy children need to be educated about NO means NO. A lot of young girls are manipulated into sex because the boys believe that is how a girl proves their love. They may not call it rape, but I know a lot of young women who regret their 1st time because it was not their choice. Of cause peer pressure plays a role, because they are told everyone is doing it.

It's always a havoc when a person asks questions that arise that may not support what one claims transpired. But I always ask myself this question and u can bash me all you like, but as a victim of abuse myself it just doesnt make sense that why would one leave the place where they claim they were abused than after a while return to dwell with their abuser after escaping the abuse. I'm not saying this lady was not abused but what prompted her to return to her abuser and dwell with him after leaving? It just doesn't make sense. What did she go back there to benefit? Because seemingly it was just abuse all the way so than why go back To the abuse? other victims left never to return yet she went back and stayed for awhile all over again. The reasoning behind this act does not make sense. The human mind and body resents pain and suffering and would not voluntaryly go back to a thing that causes pain. She did not return there on gunpoint but voluntarily did.I feel like there is some missing information in all this and until our victim comes clean about the true and pure reason of her return this case will not go forward and this abusive man will not pay for his doings. Because seemingly there must have been a very valid reason for this lady to return to him besides what she is stating.

No amount of money or material asset can be in lue for what this young lady have gone through. Her youth, her dignity, her childhood innocence, her self-esteem and self-worth was snatched from her due to no fault of hers, and still, sad individuals like you that fill your mouths with words of hatred in demoralising and demeaning her because you think you can say just any thing.
She was a minor that was not of statutory age to give consent to a male adult whom she trusted and look upon as a man of God, a father figure, and parental guide to take care of her wellbeing. Still that same man took advantage of her, because of his demonic lust for veals, he victimised her, sexually, emotionally, physically, and selfishly invaded her.
He have given her a life sentence and this is wrong. How can a watchman, a man of God, sent to save souls for His Kingdom to take souls from the hands of the devil, let the devil used him to work for him? Obviously, he was not sent by the True and Living God, but by his god, the devil himself to have sex with virgins to kill, steal and destroy their lives from their youth.

Omotoso should have the fear of God in him to confess and not to be sitting there smirking and sniggering with his accomplices. They are in their feelings intimidating the victims that are on stand defending their rights for justice to be done.
Not only Cheryl and the other victims are reliving their ordeals, but others throughout the world that have been through it.
Cheryl should not be held responsible for Omotoso's actions, but he himself should come clean knowing that if he was preaching the True Jesus to souls, that His Word should be and remain in him. It is written, The truth shall set us free."
He will not be answering to man but to God who will hand down Justice to him.
