I just got this watch and my god is it amazing. I still haven’t gotten over the total admiration phase where I just stare at it for a couple minutes every so often, admiring it. I love what you said about ADs. I went to Ashcroft and Oak to pick this up and of course it was tagged as being $945. But I sort of browsed around and tried on a few watches and let them know that I was very interested in Hamilton. I knew exactly what I was there for though, this watch of course. So after about 15 minutes of trying some things on and finally telling them to box this up, they searched for discounts and what not and were able to get it down to $750 for me. I have a relationship now with the jeweler, whom will maintain my watch if needed, and help me out in the future with any purchases I decide on. It’s nice to not only have a factory warranty but a warranty through an AD as well. So when it came down to it, I didn’t really spend that much more than I would have on Amazon or something of the like, but I got so much more in return. I will always shop at an AD from now on for watches and other jewelry.
I just picked this one, for a 6,25in wrist I was surprised how well it wear. I worned a Citizen Nighthawk for a long time so size wise, they were really similar. Also, I did paid retail at an AD and wasn't sure what to expect from my first experience. The AD was super helpful and like you mentioned, I will deal again with them whenever I need another new watch!
I always wanted to buy the Murph and never really cared for this watch . Until a couple of months ago when I started to look at pictures and watch videos and I noticed how nicely the lights reflects back from the numbers from different angles. The black dial also has a sunburst effect (which was a surprise for me because I didn't notice it until I received the watch). Slowly I developed the desire to own it and now I have it and I'm loving it. Although generally I prefer simpler watches with no day date(Murph) I can accept it on the Cooper.
For me, $50.00 more than grey market is smart business. A manufacturer warranty has value! I bought an Omega SMP from a n AD and it started running 1 minute fast/day after I had been wearing it for six months. It went back to Omega for a full factory service and was spot on for five years after that service. I have never paid for an Omega factory service, but it has to be way more than $50.00. Nice review of a cool watch.
I own and love this watch...its kinda my err day wear. Although Rob I must say I prefer the no day. I also own the King in black. The indices on this watch really make it, the horizontal lines just shine!!
Indice faces not brushed but milled in a super reflective faceted pattern. Imagine mirror bright metallic corrugated roofing. This watch looks amazing on a quality mesh strap like Staib.
Thanks for sharing, I will deff take a second look at this model, the details like the hands showing the hour and the brushed numbers are killer. As a brand Hamilton is right up there for me, great designs and prices are a no brainer. As Seiko keeps pushing their prices up it just makes brands like Hamilton, some of the micro's etc. look better (still love Seiko, just saying).
I have a Jazzmaster with ETA 2892, which is incredibly accurate, and yesterday I bought a Khaki Field Aviation automatic with H30 and an 80-hour power reserve with a blue dial. Hamilton watches offer a lot for their price, which justifies their purchase.
I’ve been wanting one for a while now. I ended up getting the khaki king because I love the day / date and it was more affordable. Soon enough I’ll grab one of these to add to the collection.
Hehe ... Interstellar is going to keep coming back to haunt you, Rob 😊. Gorgeous and so different. I own this as well as the Murph (clearly, I love the movie!). This Pilot Day Date Auto is SO insanely comfortable it is hard to take it off the wrist. The bracelet is amazing. Mine was 15 seconds slow but, under warranty, the AD adjusted this to run spot on. Another thing I love about this watch is that the time is instantly visible despite the busy dial. If you want to linger on it a bit more, enjoy the way the light plays off those reflective indeces. The lume also seems better than on my other Hammies and lasts all night long. This is one watch I will never sell.
It is a fantastic watch. Have one, caught one on a door buster online. I wear it often. Only difference is it's on leather. Not a big can of bracelets. AKA Cooper
Your'e not fooling me Rob. Pretty sure you are a closet Interstellar nut and probably watch the movie at least once a month. Had my eye on this for some years now, but haven't yet pulled the pin as I wonder if I might tire of it after a while.
My experience with this "Interstellar" watch was not very positive. Bought it from an AD -- something I NEVER do, but it turned out to be fortunate because it stopped working within two weeks and had to go back to Swatch Group for a movement replacement under warranty. When I got it back two months later, I found that the reflections from the polished indices and half-skeletonized hands made legibility a challenge so it didn't get very much wrist time. Eventually I sold it and lost hundreds of dollars on the flip -- these don't hold their value very well on the used market. It's an intriguing modern update on the B-dial flieger design, but as the Brits say, too clever by half. The German manufacturers -- Laco, Stowa, Archimede, Damasko, etc. -- stick to the more traditional realization of the flieger with better results, in my opinion. Oh well, you can't win them all.
Hamilton really has some fabulous collections. I still have the Pilot Pioneer (that you reviewed a year or so ago) on my short list and also the Aviation X Wind has peaked my interest lately. You just cant go wrong with Hamilton at all !!
Please tell me you’ve watched instellar by now…. I held out so long and it is now one of my favorite sci fi movies of all time. I’m a terminator 2, aliens, and predator kind of 1980 baby, and this one is up there easily
Love that hammy, Rob - especially with the day at the top! May I compliment you for doing less - I mean no pointless intro music. Happy holidays to you and yours...
I love that watch but the only thing batter me its the minute number around the watch. WHY ! Its anoying loll. But the esthetic of the watch is very nice. Replace the minute number by hours number 1 to 12 and it can be perfect
This is such a fun watch, I can see why you bought it - Congratulations Rob and thank you for another excellent review :) It would be interesting to to do a field watch comparison video - Maybe with, Hamilton, Boldr, and Seiko.
Bracelet has a lot of nooks and crannies for gunk to get in. Dude tried to sell me one he said he only wore twice. Every link had watch cheese inside it. Yuck... clean your watches especially if you are selling. It’s a really nice looking watch but if I buy I think I’ll go with the blue dial and green indices as it’s more fun.
I don't like this watch as it reminds me of a poolside scale. It also happens to be from my favorite movie of all time interstellar so I'm not trying to hate on it but I just can't get myself to like it. I much prefer the field kaki murph watch. I think that watch is sooo beautiful
I have the same size wrist as you and I've owned move for about a year. I'd encourage you to try it because the lug to lug makes it very wearable. It's been my go to watch since and I'll never sell it
Hamilton’s are kinda cheaply made I had this watch and a khaki navy and the clasp ended up rattling for no reason something must’ve came loose wasn’t sad getting rid of them for fractions on what I paid for em.
That is a nice watch. Not boring like many Hamilton watch dials are. Just being honest and my opinion. I know you will not like this but I like Jomashop. To me saving money is important that is if they offer a warranty. They usually have their own. If they don't then I would not buy from them. Thanks for sharing that was a nice surprise.
Nope. They are in the mid-$500 range on the gray market. I just got mine a couple of months ago. I ordered from Jomashop's Ebay store. Somehow Jomashop's Ebay listing was a few bucks less than their store website listing. Anyway, you can easily find them from several gray market sources well under $600. Sooo... Is it worth an extra $150 to "support" an authorized dealer? I donno.... 🤔 If you are going to give that authorized dealer an extra $150 for every watch you buy, how the hell are they going to "treat you right at the end"??? What kind of "extra" service an authorized dealer is going to give me if I overpay $150 every time I buy from them?
I own this watch, was my only watch for two years and wore it almost everyday. I still love it.
Still have it? I just got it. It's now my daily wear.
@@Johnfsu I do and still wear it almost daily.

I know the feeling. It’s a stunning looking piece, and it is surprisingly comfortable on bracelet too. Well done Hamilton!👍
How is it standing a year later mate? Thinking of getting one myself as my first Swiss watch :)
Why would you be resistant to watching a really good movie...?
Yea I'm curious too. It's one of the greatest pieces of cinema to date
He must not be into movies that much.
He's not culturally ept and probably too much science/physics that would be waaay over his head.

Purchased this watch yesterday and i think photos don't do it justice. It's a very nice looking watch and just wears very well on my 7 inch wrist
I bought one as my first nice watch, and I absolutely love it! It looks amazing out and about, steals a lot of wrist time from my other watches.

Got this watch for my son. He graduates this may from OU. He saw in the movie Interstellar.

I may not like many of this brand's designs but at least they are pretty original and have their own identity. I have the Khaki King and this.
It really like that one. I’ve been eyeballing this one for awhile.

Can you hand wind these or do they only self wind?
I still see this come up occasionally at ADs with the ETA 2834-2 (lower power reserve, higher beat rate) and wonder if it's NOS but apparently not.
I paid $950 Australian for mine. Its a keeper. Actually, I’m gonna go fire it up now after seeing this video.
Currently on my wrist! Great watch!
beautiful, what size wrist do you have?
That’s a stunning piece.
Hi Rob
This is the blue dial version i think??
Black
Interstellar is a very good movie!! Watch it, you will love it!
I hope i get either this or the Murph someday
What’s your beef with interstellar? Christopher Nolan makes great movies. MM is a great actor. It’s a fantastic movie.
Wish they would have put a little dab of lume on the end of the second hand.

bizarre that the hour hand doesn't point at the hour ring?
If you look closely the tip of the hour hand is skeletonized and actually shows the hour through the hand.
It looks so big in videos and photos
I've been looking at this for awhile. They don't seem to have any stores to try it on. Anyone with a 7.5 + inch wrist try this on and recomend it ?
