    THANK YOU. I was struggling trying to figure out how to do all of these together and you are the first to thoroughly do it. Thank you again

      You are absolutely welcome! This has been a great setup for me, and I love having everything in one place. It makes it so easy to use rather than going between a bunch of different planners. I have made some changes along the way, so stay tuned for an updated video of my Classic Happy Planner setup very soon! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch, and I am so happy to hear this video was helpful to you!!

      Kristen Murphy It was, i watched so many of people just completely adding the extension pack. But i really like it one month at a time for each extension, like you showed us. I just got it yesterday and got all this stuff and then I came home and just sat here lol. Do you prefer the extension packs over the half sheets, and if so could you tell me why? That's currently my struggle. I bought the wellness extension from hobby lobby. But didnt realize there were budget, fitness, and recipe extensions also. So now I'm completely stumped lol. I hope you load that video soon even if it's just a flip through so I can see how it looks. Thanks again!

    • @nomadickristen
      @nomadickristen  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to break up the extension packs one month at a time to lessen overwhelm. I am more successful in manageable bits of information! Lol! I can totally understand how you feel with all of your stuff. The name of the game is to simplify, which is why I frankenplanned several elements together into one planner. When you are putting together your planner, set aside only the pieces you want to use and put the rest either on an extra set of discs (if you have them), or you can store them in a folder or the original packaging. Start by etting up what you have, and you can always add/remove things when you get into your groove. As for half sheets, I really rely on the weekly meal planning half sheets for pre-planning meals for the week ahead of time that I then write into my weekly pages during the week. I'm already working on that video! Hoping to get it out by next week, so be sure to subscribe and click on the bell icon to get notified when it posts (if you haven't already)! Hang in there! You are headed in the right direction!

      Kristen Murphy: You’re welcome. I’ve been really interested in this planner and I’ve been watching a ton of TH-camrs and there are just a handful of u who explain it well and customize it the way it would work for me. I can’t seem to find the planner though and hope I can for 2019.

    New to the whole happy planners I like how you incorporated other stuff to plaNner I just feel the trendsetter will go to waste since that one is clearly marked 2018. So when people franken plan do they trade their un used items or put out and in search of or do they just not put what is left from planner to use?

    • @nomadickristen
      @nomadickristen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Kimberly! Welcome to the planner community! Typically speaking, I franken-plan with the intention of using the whole planner, but there have been instances where I don't use all of the pages. Usually, I will keep extra, unused pages on hand for future use. You can always re-date dated pages you already have. You might also want to consider using undated extension packs or an undated planner to help reduce the potential of unused planner pages going to waste. I hope this was helpful! Good luck and happy planning!

    Nice video; you're making me want to get a happy planner but I already have too many planners for 2018 lol. Popping in the pages and dashboards, etc. was oddly satisfying to watch. I have one of their sticker books and love using that... I just need to calm down with all my planner and sticker purchases, lately, going into the new year...
    Side note: The intro kinda felt like you're yelling at me (esp. with earbuds in). The rest of the video speaking volume was pretty good, just that little bit at the beginning.

  • @brightpage1020
    @brightpage1020 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I hear “our finances have gotten away from us...” in this video, I can’t help but wonder if part of the reason that happened might be all these extensive planner materials you are purchasing?
    I must say I have been trying to get back into using a planner after about a decade without one, and things certainly have changed. It used to be planners existed to help you keep track of appointments, goals, and accomplishments. FranklinCovey was the biggest name then in planners / organizing journals... Planners used to exist because of the plans and the future a person was building for themselves, but now it seems planners exist for their own sake - just to keep you excited about new planning products? Back then the planners weren’t the important thing - the plans were. The plans took priority and time, energy, and execution.
    I feel torn - it’s easy to get excited about beautifying a planner, or purchasing one that is aesthetically pleasing... but I have ADHD and that’s why I need one. Also, I have a family. So, I’m not just including my own plans on my calendar but my husband’s work schedule, daughters’ activities, sons’ appointments, etc... Both time and money are extremely limited resources in our household and I just can’t see spending loads of either resource on the pleasure of stickers or whatever. It might make me feel like a 3rd grader with her first Lisa Frank binder... As much as I love the look and idea of a scrapbook planner, it just seems gaudy and excessive to me, like it puts the focus on the planner, and might easily become a beautiful distraction from the actual plans. I get distracted easily and so must always be on guard against this and stay vigilant about it or my family suffers the consequences.
    What an extravagant pleasure it must be to have a beautiful notebook and time to invest in continuing to beautify it. I don’t mean for that to sound sarcastic or snarky. I mean it sincerely. Clearly you treasure your time, literally.
    Am I going to spend hours each week planning my planner? Um... I think for me I’d rather just be able to jot things down, but these are so tempting and cute...

    "Quarter" means 1/4. Since you are keeping Jan thru Apr, technically you are working by thirds ... 4 months out of 12 is 1/3 of the year, not 1/4.

    • @lkessler1
      @lkessler1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kar Flo in business, we do refer to quarters, there are four quarters in a year Jan-March (quarter 1), April-June (quarter 2) and so on. Many businesses (mine included) set their goals by quarter. I believe that is what she is referring to, as she said it’s a business frame of mind.

    • @SWEETSROCHELLE
      @SWEETSROCHELLE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a nice set, but not business minded. I use my planner heavily. I need the entire year in view at times as you have obligations past four months. Unless you write them in a note section and then have to rewrite when you add sheets. I have staff I have to see when there vacation is etc.... it is cute and I will take some ideas for my home planner.
