I've sat and watched the whole review, and I can only say: 'Avē Imperātor, moritūrī tē salūtant'. But seriously Nige, it's the breadth of subjects you take on which makes you one of my favourite TH-cam modelling channels. Whether it be this car, or the part work Lancaster (neither of which I would build), or the Scharnhorst or the big Titanic (both of which I would/might), I find your output extremely entertaining and watch most of it. I usually learn something too. Keep it up. 😊
Nigel, one thing I would highly recommend is to build this thing as soon as possible. Last year I finished my Pocher 1932 Alfa Romeo which I started building around 2001-2002. I'm sure the new kits are better quality than the old ones, but I found that many of the metal screws snapped while trying to screw them into the plastic. I suspect that they had become brittle over the years. Luckily, when I started building it I had a few missing screws, and a severely warped cylinder head, so I got spares fromPocher. They sent me a nicely moulded cylinder head and hundreds of spare screws (basically a whole pack of each screw type that I only needed a few of). This was a bonus as I had dozens of screws that snapped, but I had an excess of spares.
Drilling out those brake discs is the modern day equivalent of building the Pocher 1932 Alfa Romeo wheels with individual metal spokes and tiny nipples (control your dirty mind Nigel). And 6 wheels to build (2 spares to go on the back).
Hi Nigel, Beautiful kit🤩 I like that they keep the circle in the middle of the sprues, that says Pocher. I'm finishing the Fiat 1907, all painted, with real wood, ... and I have an Alfa 8c2300 to finish also but I kind of lost my mojo by going too much into detail. Too bad the original factory (accidentally) went up in flames in Milan, imagine if they made a Colombo engine : Ferrari 250gto, 250tr, ... I think that the black metal parts are powder coated to be so tough. It would be even better if they added a little jar of yellow paint for eventual touch-ups. Thanks for the review, can't wait for the build👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👋🏻
It’s huge! The prepainted parts look fabulous! Looking forward to the build! I once had a Pocher Mercedes with those beautiful swung fenders. Sad thing the prepainted metal frame started to rust while building… But, I guess this wouldn’t be a problem here!
I have to say, this new kit is a more like an Airfix Quickbuild kit compared to the old-style Pocher kits. I spent a few months on mine back in 2001-2002, then the majority of last year to finish it off. I spent hours scraping, filling and sanding, and there were no pre-painted parts. You could make it without painting if you really wanted to as the parts were all the appropriate colours, but it wouldn't look right, and the beige/blue body panels were nowhere near as nice as the pure white/royal blue that I painted mine.
As much fun as a Model Factory Hiro? Also packing tape splits on its length quite easily, so cut across the ends put a starter cut on one end then split the tape. no issues with cutting through the middle.
Apparently, the colour code for the Lamborghini yellow is RAL 4006 and they call it Gaillo Orion. if you want your mate to mix a pot for you. It's an epic kit Nige, going to build into a outstanding model.
@@NigelsModellingBench As I live in a hard water area, the water leaves stains/marks etc upon drying, how do you avoid leaving all the watermarks deposited that are left after the water has dried, e.g. chalk stains etc?
This is a scary project. I'm glad my finances will never stretch to buying one. I don't think I'd get further than eyeing the parts lovingly in the box (yellow being my absolute favourite colour). It's going to be interesting watching your trials and tribulations over the next 3-4 months. The fact that you have to cut your own threads is particularly terrifying. Have fun if you can.
Only problem with this kit Nige...it's R21000 in South Africa. I recently swapped a part built Pocher Mercedes 500/540K for a bunch of plastic kits...only found out later that the unstarted kit was selling for over R60000😮🙈
Hi Nigel, looks like you're going to have to pay a visit to ALDI to invest in a large quantity of microfibre cloths to prevent scratching of all that paintwork!!
When I bought mine the customer service was awful, so I hope they have improved, wanted to change me for a new clear spru as some light component’s had disappeared? Then to insult to injury they came up with a free display case if you bought the model just after I spent hundreds of pounds on the case ! Still not happy and never did get a response from the company to my email Re the subject!
Pleased Mos got sorted, still leaves me with a bitter taste for company as no replacement parts ,paying over the odds and they didn’t have the curtesy to reply to my email
hi nigel, been a subscriber for awhile just on different accounts, anyways, do these brands send you the kits or do you buy them yourself? i want to make content like you, but dont have money since im young, i know they sent you this, but how do i get brands to send me things to grow a channel? thanks.

Thanks, I was working on Scharnhorst last night.
@@NigelsModellingBench for the next video? I hope so.
This looks like it is going to be a great Engineers build. Great stuff Nige, I will be looking forward to this build, thank you.
Thanks 👍

@@NigelsModellingBench Looking forward to see the build. I'll book in a few dozen hours of viewing time.

SUPERB REVIEW!!!! Thank you so much for uploading this for us to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great looking kit Nigel, I'll look forward to following this build. The Assembly cushions from Partwork upgrades are fab & well worth using.. 👍🦮

Hi Nigel, This looks like a beautiful kit. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Well, it was Italian, and you know what Italian cars are very good at.
Cool kit thanks for 😊
No problem 👍

What a thing! Massive!
Oh goody. Been waiting for this.👍
A cool kit good luck with that super kit that’s a lot of work take time

I wanted to remove all the tape John, not just split it.
@@NigelsModellingBench at the 35 minute point you cut the tape and advise caution.
Great to see your enthusiasm for this one, is all your mojo back?
I wish!

Thanks Phillip.
Having built 2 Pocher kits, Lotus & Ducati bike kits, the instructions are not the easiest to follow at times especially pipework routing
What's the best way of drying the parts!
I think I'll wash them in soapy water.
@@NigelsModellingBench As I live in a hard water area, the water leaves stains/marks etc upon drying, how do you avoid leaving all the watermarks deposited that are left after the water has dried, e.g. chalk stains etc?
You would need to rinse in deionized water before it dries.
