Acting Idols: I totally get what you're saying, and I agree. Especially with Suzy. Miss A hasn't had a comeback in what, a year? Was Hush Hush and a year ago? And it's definitely because of Suzy's acting. There was a video recently, idk from where, of Suzy "interviewing" the other 3 girls, and she asked a question about their girl group activities, and they also jokingly said "We're a girl group?!", basically a nod to their lack of promotions. (I didn't actually see the video, just the gifsets). I honestly think JYP has played favorites in Miss A, because, while Suzy is acting and delaying their comebacks, the other three girls could be doing other things. I know the company isn't a big one for sub-units, but they could create a Miss A subunit, or have Miss A comeback without Suzy for a comeback or two. (But then, I also say the same about Wonder Girls). I also feel like, idols who wanted to be actors but joined an idol group are a little..annoying as well. The way I see it there are at least four types of acting idols, 1) the idols who want both an acting career and a singing career, 2) the idols who really just want to act, but joined an idol group to gain popularity, 3) the idols who were forced to join an idol group by their company, and 4) Idols who were pushed into acting by their company after their group debuted. In further thinking, I think the latter two are most often the result. A lot of acting idols joined the company and went through training to be an actor, but their company decided to also put them in an idol group. Taeyeon's instagram update: I personally didn't read anything into her posting that. I think it was more "Look at our new merch!" since it's from the SM exhibition thing. I don't think it's her throwing shade at Jessica or OT9 stans. I think it's just Gorgeous Spazzers(Jessica fans) reading too much into it. And, like you said, if another member had been the one to post the sweatshirt, there would probably be less hate.
Acting-dols: OMG @ that gifset! Their was one point where they we pushing Fei and she was getting positive responsive but IDK what happened. Honestly JYP seems like a really friendly company but i feel like they have a problem when it comes to keeping their groups hot/popular. It's seems like they can only have one hot talent at a time (WG, then 2pm, then Miss A, now it's jut Suzy) Taeyeon: omg her fanclub name is Gorgeous Spazzers?!haha so randomXD But yeah, that could be true. I mean, it's not like OT9 merch is even an option anymore
In JiYoung's case, I feel the reason K-Netizens are hating on her is due to the fact that she decided to pursue her acting career in Japan rather than Korea. I don't mind idols getting in to acting but yes, only if it's their own choice. What I appreciate about how DSP handled Kara was how they placed group activities first before individual projects. They took the time to cultivate the group's popularity first before they pursued other projects. And each member brought in certain aspects to the group's growth in fame thus opening the doors to their individual popularity as well. You never really saw any of the girls getting in to acting until maybe late 2010 with their Japanese series or mid 2011 with HaRa and her City Hunter drama. GyuRi as a child actor was before their time too. Unlike other groups who focuses on one member and place them as the sole popularity factor of the group, especially when the group itself has yet to reach any true recognition. That's when you start to see hindrance on the group as a whole. That's when you start to see the company placing this one individual's activities first before the group and they start throwing the other members BS projects like sub units crap that most of the time goes nowhere. Yes it gets frustrating having a member that doesn't share the same passion but at the same time if an opportunity comes to you you would probably take it. Getting your foot in that door is what's important when you are pursuing your dreams.
I think I came off as a bit anti-actingdols in the video but I'm honestly not. I think as long as group activities come before individual oneslike you mentioned, it's fine. But my thing is, when you have someone who wants to really be an actor in an idol group, I feel like it cuts the life of the idol group short(Especially when the acting-idol in older). I mean I know idol groups don't last forever, but I feel like sooner or later, the one who wants to act, is going to have to start focusing their full attention on acting if they want to be taken seriously. And if the idols older, that process is likely to speed up a bit. Also I agree with how DSP handle KARA'a popularity in terms of getting the group popular first. I feel that's where JYP messed up with Miss A.
To be honest, I wouldn't care if one of my members was passionate about singing or not because they might be more focused on dancing or rapping, maybe even both. However, I would feel very mad if I entered an idol group and worked my ass off. Then someone just came in for acting and prospered without deserving or working hard for it. On the Taeyeon thing: I've always liked her. Love her voice and she is really dorky. I do feel however like she's changed ALOT. She's a lot more mature now and can get really shady. I don't think she meant to sort of bash Jessica, but I do think that she was really indifferent about her leaving. It's obvious that her and Jessica weren't as close as they used to be but as the leader she should've tried to be as close as possible with ALL of the members, but she really just sticks to Tiffany. Which she shouldn't On the Hyeri thing. It's all really stupid. Idols are humans too and in the pop world EVERYONE is your rival even if you're friends. So it's natural for some groups too just not like each other, and maybe this is the case. Yes it was rude and she should apologize, but afterwards everyone should just leave it alone and realize it's a harsh world and its every Kpop group for themselves. Love your videos- bye!!!
I've recently noticed how close she is to tiffany too! I watched the reality show TTS had and sometimes Seohyun seemed like a third wheel lol. I think you're right though about her being different in the sense that she really let's her feeling show whether it's positive of negative and ive been really torn between whether thats a good or bad thing. I mean it's cool that's she comfortable enough to show her true feels but it often comes off as shady lol Thanks for the support!
I totally get the "acting-dol" stuff, but I think it's so funny cuz I've seen people complain about that stuff like "if XX idol wanted to become an actor, why did he debut as a singer" and I think that argument is fine and valid, but then they mention Lee Joon, Siwan, etc., but no one talks about T.O.P? Like, idk about anyone else but I think one of the main reasons this BigBang comeback hasn't happened in so long is bc Seunghyun is more interested in acting atm. Or am I the only one who sees it that way? Lol it seems like I'm bashing him but I actually bias t.o.p, but i miss bigbang T.T although I'm glad he was in Tazza 2 for that damn shirtlessness
Lol T.O.P. is my Big Bang bias to but for him I feel like at one point, he was really was passionate about rapping. Idk what happened to him, but it def seems like Acting> rap for him nowadays so yeah I definitely agree :/ Bless his shirtlessness though, I waitednted 84 years for that lol *Thirst intensifies*
