I have had great success in removing handle bar grips by using an air compressor. A fine tip or ball adapter (for basketball/soccer ball) carefully placed between the grip and the bar. Pulse the air and twist!

This was the best mod I ever did. The bike is so much more stable and fun to ride. Thanks so much for the how-to video it gave me enough confidence to tackle this by myself. Talk about an hour to do

An air compressor inserted from the other end while turning.
If you don't have a compressor an air can, like you use to dust off electronics, works ok too.

I added the Jones H Bar 2.0 on my RAD Wagon & wish I had installed them the day I bought the bike. Amazing difference.

I use isopropyl alcohol instead of WD-40. The alcohol evaporates so no clean up.

      That is what I use.

Compressed air works great if the ends are still capped. Isopropyl rubbing alcohol works very well also. But in the end what ever works works.

I got a different opinion I like the narrow ones because I can get around bushes and mailboxes etc without catching the handlebars

Thanks for the links and the video. Did this mod last week but only went around the block. Went 20 miles today. This is the best upgrade hands down. The size seems to fit the bike well (Not too big even with bar end mirrors) and plenty of room for accessories.
Do you know how when you ride a scooter if you turn the handlebars just a bit it makes a big difference in your direction? Well, obviously I’m exaggerating but it makes a big difference here too.
I almost went with a bar extension but I’m100% glad I went this way.
BTW I already had Bar end mirrors (and I think I’m going to keep them) so the ends of my grips were already cut like Papa Citizen. WD-40 is just as effective putting them on. I doused the inside of the rubber with WD-40 and you have about 10-15 seconds to play with it and get it in position. It dries and stays.
    Thanks again!

I changed my Lectric Step Thru 1.0 handlebar. They are more swept back now for an easier reach.

I have 780mm bars on my 2.0 on a stem adaptor below the origional stem. 22mm straight bar for my lights, tool bag, phone, bell, & rubber duckie. Mirrors on the end.

Have the handlebars handle abuse well? I really need to change mine stock ones, I get what feels like speed wobble if using one hand while using hand signals and it spokes me every time.

  • @bret9037

How do you get the throttle off?

    • @CitizenCycle925
      @CitizenCycle925  ปีที่แล้ว +1

tiny little hex head bolt on the throttle to loosen and release, unplug and slide right off the bar.

A few cans of canned air upside down on the grip with expand the rubber.....if it get tough.....or compressed air in between the grip and it will shoot off fast.

I'm disappointed because I wanted to see how all the gadgets, including the throttle, comes off and back on the new bars.

So the only thing that you showed how to do was to get the grips off easier, and skipped the rest.
