Step one: have materials, facilities and plans ready.
Step two: have practitioners help you set it up.

Nice work 👍I will we doing this to my new academy hopefully pretty soon. I think I may go with the car tire method for the extra height and I can get them free so that's a plus. Yours looks great👍

Where did you buy the foam from by chance. I love your set up and would like to do this at my academy

In my mind, all I could see was him dropping that tailgate and all that wood flying out and crushing him.

This is great! I'd like to do this in my home garage. Respectfully I'd like to ask you some questions about how you built it. It looks fantastic, and your school and students are much better off now, than they were when you were right over concrete. Clearly much softer and safer for everyone - kudos. My question is how much softer is it? It's hard tell on camera, even when your students are training. Since I have bad knees, I'd like to have more "give" on the mats than what I see on the video. Do you think that this can be achieved by having less foam blocks per OSB sheet? and thiner OSB sheets (if possible). Last question and equally important. How did you boarder the mats in the front - the entrance (see video 7:55). What is that wood thing? Is it flush with the mats or short of the level of the mats? I can't tell. I ask because I will have that problem in my garage. Not on one side but on three sides. That is just what I'm working with in my garage. I'm afraid me or my kids might fall too close the the edge and since the mat gives in, they would hit the corner of a hard piece of wood used to boarder the whole mat system. Since I'm looking for more "give" on the floor this is a problem that I'm trying to find a solution for in my head. Any advise/ideas would be great.

I'm about to do the same thing. Any tips or feedback? I might go 3" tall on the foam and maybe less cubes to make it more absorbing? What do you think?

How was the floor held up? Anything you would do differently in hindsight?

Its been great! In hindsight, maybe we would have gone with a little thinner plywood as there are 2 layers, and that way we could get a little more bounce

@@vanislejiujitsudaily920 The OSB board has been holding up? I see some people using plywood but OSB is so much cheaper. So I'm interested to see how it's holding up.. Thanks

@@slider2894 the OSB has been more than enough. No need to go with plywood

The dense ones would be a good idea for home use cheers for the idea! That under floor ply with Eva foam jigsaw tiles under tatami judo mats on top great stuff
