Red Kites in a Thundersturm | Rotmilane im Gewitter

Red kites are the country's secret heraldic animals. About half of the global population of these acrobatic air fighters breed between the Baltic Sea and the Alps. With the camera I accompanied a pair of red kites in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - from the boat in the search for food and well camouflaged from a treetop twelve meters above the ground at the eyrie with a young bird. A thunderstorm with gusts of wind shook me as well as the kites. Afterwards we were all completely soaked. But that's the only way to get spectacular shots ...
Rotmilane sind die heimlichen Wappentiere des Landes. Etwa die Hälfte des weltweiten Bestandes dieser akrobatischen Luftjäger brüten zwischen Ostsee und Alpen. Mit der Kamera begleitete ich ein Rotmilan-Paar in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - vom Boot aus bei der Suche nach Futter und gut getarnt aus einem Baumwipfel in zwölf Metern Höhe am Horst mit einem Jungvogel. Ein Gewitter mit Sturm-Böen schüttelte mich ebenso durch wie die Milane. Völlig durchnässt waren wir anschließend alle. Nur so aber entstanden spektakuläre Aufnahmen...
