I agree with you that AT-RT's are good if you build them with a cheap loadout. I think if you take more of the aggressive units like fleets, op Luke, sleeper cell etc having them with flamers isn't terrible as it causes some threat saturation issues for your opponent. I think in general though just take them with the laser cannon and call it a day
Yeah, the wall of LOS blocking strat could be fun. I also enjoy a sideways bus sometimes for similar reasons haha It’s a pretty casual tourney so I’m taking a few units I wouldn’t normally run to see how they go, should be interesting!

I was a fan of at-rt before the update already as cheap armor activation padding. Thanks for making these guides! Some empire guides would be nice as well. You said swoops are unplayable? I thought with the overrun 2 they can be a menace if you deploy close/late, though for rebels im not sure, i only tried that with 3 at once and raiding party bus in shadow collective
I think empire will probably come in after rebels, but will see how we go! Swoops are just too vulnerable for me in current legion, same as other speeders but they only shoot at range 2 so have to get close and open themselves up to lots of lethal range 2 enemy units. Maybe unfair to say unplayable but definitely have their weaknesses

Still if you play an aggressive list where you have bigger threats or juicier targets for your opponent, they sometimes manage to somehow stay alive till later in the game and be a great nuissance with hit and run tactics or objective grabbing. But yeah all that to say, maybe C tier. Also I dont feel range 2 is much of a limitation anymore with current objectives especially on a speeder bike. If you cant shoot turn 1 you generally move out of sight or dodge anyway, so then succes depends on your movement or defensive strengths.
There’s some tricks to work out rough scores in your head. For instance if you roll a surging black and a surging white dice they average 1 hit because they have 8 faces between them. swlegion.space. I use this dice sim too for more accurate calculations
to be honest all the weapons are good on it as it surges to crit, just depends on you local meta. I tend to run it with the rotary blaster as my local is heavy in 2-3 range infantry that is 4-6 man squads. I just need 2 more of them as I only have the 1 AT-RT for rebels. I do agree it is the rebels best support unit for the cost, the next best would be the tauntaun riders. both the swoops and laser cannon are a no, especially the cannon as it can't move when almost all missions care about mid field missions.
The local meta point is fair, it can really warp what weapons become usable. I just find the range and utility of laser cannon too much to ignore. I’m running some tauns at a tourney this weekend, excited to see if I can get good utility out of them!
