    thank you for this video. after watching this video, I discovered that recently purchased 1975 Vette doors were missing three of four lower door clips. The clips seemed to have been taken off with-out removing the screws thus breaking the lip of the Pannel. Drivers' door was missing upper front screw, no hole for it. Sadly, these were new door cards. At least now I know how to fix them.

    Great video , it was very helpful. A couple of comments. I have a 1972 Vette that was originally my Dad’s, so this car and I have grown old together. There are a lot of little things that over the years have driven me crazy with the car , one of the biggest was the door pulls stripping out of the door card. The new door cards from Zip have the ABS plastic but the grip on the door pull is less than great. I went ahead and installed the pulls on the door on my work bench with a nut and lock washer on the other side and Locktite. Much more secure and with this new door card the door pull does not screw into the door frame so if you ever have to replace the door pull, just take the door card off and you can access everything. Thanks again, enjoy your videos.

      Replacing the door cards was one of the top 5 hardest job of the entire build. I don't ever want to take them off again.

    I can't believe my eyes how you committed NCRS Corvette adultry! Changing the interior from brown to black is cardinal sin man! haha Just busting your lugnuts, I would have done the same thing. Great tutorial vid! -Glen

      Lugnuts busted - you had me!! - but seriously my answer to all of the purist out there - my car, my decision. I get tons of questions about the Fiero Seats.

    I bought Teflon washers to put between the vinyl of the door and the screws to keep them washers from cutting into the vinyl. I suck at explaining myself, but I’m talking about the screws that you punched a hole on the vinyl with the awl. The screws you had concerns about not over tightened.

      that is a great idea - those screws are very difficult to install

    Those bottom retaining clips would work better if you cut a small narrow notch in the door. The vinyl isn't strong enough all by itself. On my '69, I've got the same type of setup and there is a notch or slot in the door for those clips. If you unexpectedly catch the door card and have nothing but vinyl holding the bottom of the door, it could rip the vinyl. You can see the "indent" in the door, so just take your X-acto knife or a small dremel tool and cut a 1/8" X 1 1/4" slot on the side of the indent closest to the edge of the door and then slip the retainer into that slot and push it toward the edge of the door.

      that is a great idea - thinking about another paint job - I'll use this tip next time I take the doors off

    Where did you get those seat covers? The Stingray script is better than the flags imo

    Great video, thanks. Question, did you install a vapor/sound barrier on either door?

    • @lawdogcorvette8565
      @lawdogcorvette8565  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not replace the vapor barrier on the doors - but I also kind of committed not to drive it in the rain (I have yet to install the wipers)

    I ordered some Corvette America door panels last year for my 74 which were identical to what you show but mine came in a Box that had "Al Knoch" branding.. so It appears the manufacturer makes them for different brands.

    Did your panels come with the retaining clips and the window crank spacers? I bought my panels from the same place and those pieces were not included.
