I came here to give my opinion on his response as it was awkward.
Is risking lives in the name of migration worth it was the question but he was spewing rubbish.
Quote” until they return home before they realize it’s not greener”. Was that the question??
His response just pictures his hatred towards those that finds greener pastures elsewhere.

      Good day,
I'm a Nigerian educator with BSc and MSc degrees in Education, and a PGD in Sociology. My research interests include learning disabilities, inclusive education, and adolescent development.
With 10+ years of teaching and counselling experience, I'm seeking opportunities for further study, work, and research collaboration in Canada.
Any assistance or guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Proffessor Lumumba is on point. Its responsibilities of Afrcan governments to come up with policies that ensure that the welfare of their Nationals are taken to heart. Why has Africa got low minimum wages compared to Europe even when they are employed by foreign multinational companies ? A cleaner in Europe earns more than a nurse in Africa. What do you expect?
If this problem is not addressed money invested in Education will not have an impact because of brain drain. This is the very reason even proffessionals are living their countries for greener pastures.

Dr. Chibuzo Onyema and Professor Lumumba are very well learned people. Most of our so called politicians don’t understand what it takes to govern the people that gave them the mandate in the first place, so how can they give what they don’t have. This is a very hard pill to swallow. Now talk about the electorate, most of them are also illiterate, they have sold their birth right and don’t know the capacity of the people they vote into office. A hand of applause to both speakers, I hope what they are preaching will come true one day.

Great conversation but it is incomplete without young voices. A key contributor to irregular migration is loss of hope. Hope has been wrenched from the average African youth in a way that their predecessors cannot understand. There is literally little to nothing to look forward to, so people are incentivized to move by any means necessary.
This phenomenon is hard for the baby boomers to relate to as they came of age in a time where the air was rife with hope. Unfortunately, we didn’t get that.

It is pathetic to note that a Kenyan Professor understands the plight of an average Nigerian youth more substantially than a so called "Nigerian" Onyema. It's quite embarrassing that he just jested with the sufferings people had to go through by condensing his very elusive idea in to bracketing migrating youths into an unemployable and unskilled basket. Although he tried to refine his crude point at the second attempt, all the same his first point undermined the rationale for his invitation.
