Or call it a Mobile Island? Mobile Counter? Build Article: www.wordsnwood.com/2018/cafecart In which I build a mobile cart/island/counter for the cafe area at our church. I'm using various reclaimed hardwood for this. I have to make some massive half-laps, which was a challenge, and then stain it dark to match the other cabinetry. Nice Job. I like the spalted wood that you used for the leg crosses. I noticed a few additional red stains on the wood. A friend of mine's Dad used to say, "..if you aren't bleeding, you're aren't working hard enough. Well I guess you were working hard enough. Thanks for posting the build. Keep up the good work.
Of course! (But of course I know that sooner or later some kid is going to climb on top of it, so I had to test it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
Enjoyed watching your video, I'm about to work on a similar table for my son using pinewood scrap , I just hope it turns out as good as how you did it . Thanks for sharing the video. GOD BLESS YOU.
Love it, Art! That spalting on the leg piece was amazing. Great design, and the lap joints came out great! Always enjoy your vids. Keep up the great work!
A lot of people are getting into fusion360 nowadays - if I was starting from scratch I might check it out first. But I have almost 10 years into sketchup now...
Nice build. Always enjoy your videos Art. Also got a chuckle from the red stains on the cross member at the 13:10 mark. I'm constantly leaving small bloodstains on my work from little nicks & cuts of which I'm unaware, and it looks like you did, too
Been there, done that.... BUT NOT this time! That was actually red paint from the safety cover on the jointer. That thing is like 8-12 years old but I lay the board on it for a moment and I still get paint coming off. Oh well, better than blood!

Thank-you!
It's a masterpiece work of Art! See that?
:)
Seriously, nicely done. That one's going to be around for many years, for sure.

15:53 CLassic , the Matthias Wandel slide . i like that hahah
Of course!
(But of course I know that sooner or later some kid is going to climb on top of it, so I had to test it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)
The Wandel test ought to be a standard part of any table build.
Nice job! The finish looks great and seems to match the rest of the kitchen cabinets very well.
Nicely done Art. I like the "church wood"! :)
Great job Art! Never thought about using those type of bolts to connect the stretcher, very cleaver. Nice to support your church also.
Enjoyed watching your video, I'm about to work on a similar table for my son using pinewood scrap , I just hope it turns out as good as how you did it . Thanks for sharing the video. GOD BLESS YOU.
Nice, like the way you explained what you were doing
it's less messy . and i heard it blotches less on soft woods and cherry and maple the gel stain that is , nice job on the build .
Love it, Art! That spalting on the leg piece was amazing. Great design, and the lap joints came out great! Always enjoy your vids. Keep up the great work!
I was a bit sad to stain that spalted piece, but it was necessary to match the cabinetry.
Nice engineering Art. JimE
Nice work Art! Thanks for sharing it with us God Bless 😎👍JP
Great build, Art. Thanks.
Well done Art! Neat build. I must learn more about Sketchup - I seem to be only scratching the surface.
A lot of people are getting into fusion360 nowadays - if I was starting from scratch I might check it out first. But I have almost 10 years into sketchup now...
Wonderful! Enjoyed your process for determining the half laps. Well done!
Great project. Nice job.
The dreaded grain going the wrong way on the parts in the sketchup drawing. You're a better man than me being able to live with it like that.
One of the real annoyances of sketchup is, IMHO, how complex it is to fix the grain. Sometimes I just can't be bothered.
Beautiful table/kitchen island came out very nice
GREAT project Art. Hope your church gets some good MoJo from the other church.

Great job n thank u.
best thing about that particle board top is that you don't need any special ways of attaching the top to the base as it doesn't expand and contract
Mr. Pythagoras could have helped you on the leg dimensions. Good vid.
Awesome build :)
Parabéns ótimo trabalho
Looks 6cm too deep to me... ???
I wasn't trying to be the exact same height.

Would a shim between casters an "X" be an option?
