I went there 4 years ago (2017), I visited the entire California state except Anaheim and Las Vegas. This zoo is in my opinion, the most original and complex zoo I have ever seen, so vast yet so outstanding. I remember going there and I never had so much fun in my life, California was the greatest time ever for me.
Very well done. Relaxing walk. Vegetation is BEAUTIFUL there. Good shots of animals that were present. Showed different angles as they walked around some exhibits. Thank you.
Thank you Wander Kay for the amazing Walk Tour. It is very thoughtful of you to do this for we who can't physically be there. The animals are precious and the work staff are amazing.
Word on the street is, this is the best zoo in the world. I live in Ohio and I heard about that. I heard this zoo takes a more natural approach to keeping the animals in the zoo things in that nature and everything they do is study around the world because they do it so well that's what I heard. I heard there's like a ski lift thing that you can travel from one point to the other. I must say the Columbus zoo which is only 2 hours from where I'm at it's probably the second best zoo in the world. And I think it's bigger than the San Diego zoo
This zoo seems so peaceful. I would have loved to see the primates exhibit. I'm thinking of taking my seven year old to this zoo or the Santa Barbara Zoo.
Zoo animal care student here. Many cat species pace, but it doesn’t always mean that they’re stressed. Sometimes that’s how they patrol their enclosure. It can also be anticipatory behaviour (getting excited about something, for example, food). 🐯🫶
Before Television and before people ever had the ability to travel as they do for many years now, I suppose a zoo would have been an interesting place to go, however most of the animals were in cages and they just sat there and stared out of an iron cage, and there were not that many animals because of the limited space and poor knowledge of that animal and a limited food supply for that exotic creature, Now Zoos have a myraid of animals to look at and well, there just in a different arrangement type of cage and just sitting there and most of the time sleeping and waiting for their next meal so not much has changed and the grown up's look all bored and the kids are about as interested in the animals as I am that last attack of the big "D". The last time my husband and I took our kids to the Zoo they were about 11 and 12 and they were as interested in the animals as we were lawn care and paying our bills. That was 1969 and we never went back. It's like the Circus, you go once in your lifetime and that's all she wrote.....
What are some of your favorite animals at the San Diego Zoo?

I used to live in San Diego and was a zoo member for five years. It’s nice seeing exhibits I remember from long ago along with the new upgrades.

That would be such a fun and relaxing place to work even part time!
I have thought the same thing. I would even take care of the Dung beetles and not complain.
