Tensa Zangetsu is the physical vow of Ichigo’s determination to oppose the powers that be that threaten what he wants to protect. The zanpakto system is literally built for character driven storytelling, and their bankai’s name is just as defining and revealing as the characters’ true names in those stories that use true names in their magic systems. It’s very much in keeping with Buddhist ideology where understanding your own nature and identity is important to an individual’s path to enlightenment.

So many beautiful and cool bankais. SSJ, Kurama Mode, Gear... They all are definitely cool but I will always love BAN-KAI. Tensa Zangetsu forever being my favorite. Also, props to WatchMojo for including that clip from the Regai Arc. The CLEANIEST getsugatensho in all of the OG series
I’ve heard that Isshin’s Getsuga is inherently different as it only acts to enhance slashing attacks at short range. Which is why nobody really noticed the similarities between his and Ichigo’s attacks, because Ichigo uses it as long range artillery and literally splits the heavens with it.
I just hope this top is not based on the Bankai's powers, cause otherwise the order is criminal. Senjumaru's at a super low position, Yammamoto's #5 UNDER RENJI'S, like... WHAT??? And so many more.. Ikkaku's too high also. Can't comprehend it really but whatever xD. If there's no specific order then it's fine, but still hurt to watch

As a whole Soifon's is suitable for a desperate last stand scenario where all other avenues and allies are gone. She operates infinitely better with her well honed assassin's skills. Her Bankai perfectly represents her inner self that contradicts the coldly stoic persona she's supposed to project yet easily cracks.
Forgot to mention that Ikkaku's Bankai was broken in that fight, and even though Mayuri "fixed" it he noticed it was significantly weaker. Also feel that Jakuho Raikoben should have been a *lot* lower, being a one trick pony that Soifon can normally only fire off once every few days. Also that Hihio Zambimaru was literally half of his bankai because his zanpaktou spirit didn't respect him and sōo zambimaru being his full one. Not that Squad Zero tweaked it or whatever, but they guy who named everything and knows everything's name finally determined Renji was worthy of knowing the proper name of his bankai.
Currently Renji's Bankai should be called So-Oh Zabimaru now. I also think that Ichibe and Senjumaru's Bankai should be higher up in the Top. // They should update this top later, since we will soon see Kyoraku and Kenpachi's Bankai! 💀

It may be non cannon but Amagai's bankai, Raika Gouen Kaku, deserved a spot over Ginjo's nameless bankai. And I'm sorry but Ryumon Hozukimaru does not deserve to be in the top 10.
