Oh, that could be a long list! I’m not sure if you’ve read these, but here are some recommendations: -At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon (Mitford series #1) -Miss Buncle’s Book by D.E. Stevenson -Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë -The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery -Arabella by Georgette Heyer
Oh, I love, Love, LOVE At Home in Mitford! And I read The Blue Castle earlier this year. Why did it take me so long to get around to reading it??? 🤪 I've never read the other books you recommended, but I'm going RIGHT NOW to see if my Libby has them, and if not, they'll be added to my wishlist. Thank you!!!! ❤️📚❤️
Tammy, I’m going to recommend Murder in an English Village. It’s a cozy historical mystery. It takes place just after WWI in a small village in England. The MC are two old friends that lead very different lives but come together in solving a local mystery. There are currently 8 books in the series. This is the first and I think a good one, but the series just gets better as you get to know the Beryl and Edwina and the rest of the villagers better.
Thank you SO much for the series recommendation! My Libby has 7 of the 8 books on audio, so I'll be listening to them soon. They look like lots of fun, and I've not read cozies quite like this series. It will be a refreshing series to read. 😁❤️📚
I think you would like Patricia Veryan. She wrote Regency/Georgian romance novels in the 80s and 90s and they're so fun. You enjoy vintage romance, so I think you would enjoy hers also.
I will be doing posts on my blog Cozy Mystery Cat in December and January with all of the new cozy mysteries I read and my top 4 of 2024, my most read authors in 2024, and my top 25 cozy mystery series of all time. So stay tuned for those. What kind of non-fiction do you like? I read a lot of non-fiction but they may not be subjects you are interested in.
Oooh, I'm looking forward to seeing what your all-time favorite cozies are. 😁 I've tried to comment on your blog posts several times, but I'm not doing something right. It's not your blog, it's me. 🙁 Do you mind if I mention it occasionally on my videos?
@ Thank you for replying to cajunpeach’s comment. I tried 4 times but You Tube kept on deleting it. Are you subscribed to my blog? Feel free to mention my blog on your channel. The more cozy mystery readers the merrier! ❤️💚
@catreadsbooks I'm not sure how to subscribe. But what I did was "add to home page," which added it to my phone with your blog icon and title. All I do is click on it, and up pops your blog. 😁
I hope your granddaughter is feeling better very soon! I'm going to recommend The Liturgical mystery series by Mark Schweizer - they are very funny and a lot of fun. Also Thoroughly Southern by Patricia Sprinkle and the Magnolia Mysteries by Ellen Elizabeth Hunter. They are more of the original cozy mysteries - so not cutesy and fluffy but still cozy.
I looked up the Liturgical series to read the titles and see the covers, and I had myself a little giggle. And THEN I saw the covers in the Magnolia series. 😮😯😲 GORGEOUS covers. I added them to my wish list immediately. Thank you so much, Cajun. ❤️📚
You may have read these, but one of my favorite cozy mystery series (other than Agatha Christie) is Simon Brett's Fethering Mysteries. The first one is, The Body on the Beach. Not at all stressful. I hope your granddaughter is better soon
Thank you, Vicki! I just looked on my Libby, and 7 of the books are on audio. 🎉 Thanks for the recommendation, this is a cozy mystery series I've never heard of, and I love me a new series. ❤️📚❤️

Tammy; I am going to recommend some books that I read this year, that stood out to me. Non-Fiction: Free lunch by Rex Ogle, Amazing Life of Betty White by Newberry Publishing, Children's books Kodi by Jared Cullum, Witchling's Witch (picture book) by Lu Fraser, I just finished a book regarding the titanic, but more about the rescue ship it is called A Brilliant Night of Stars and Ice By Rebecca Connolly, I also love The Maid by Nita Prose it is stated as a Mystery Thriller, but I found it more of a cozy mystery. I flew through it.
What a fabulous list of recommendations! I've read the Betty White book (I sure did love her), and I just borrowed the audiobook of Free Lunch from my Libby. It really speaks to me, and I'm going to listen to it next week. 🥺 Kodi looks darling, and I might just have to buy myself a copy. 🐻 The children's picture book is definitely one I want to borrow from the library for the girls. And I put both A Brilliant Night of Stars and Ice and The maid on my Libby wish list. 🎉 I really appreciate you sharing these great books. ❤️📚❤️
I noticed someone else already mentioned this but I read At Home in Mitford years ago and really enjoyed it. Another one I enjoyed that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming is The Traveling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa. I love reading the comments and hopefully you’ll get lots of great recommendations. Often when I get online and look up cozy books, I keep seeing the same(popular ones) mentioned so it’s great to get another perspective and most likely better recommendations based on what you enjoy.
Yes, there's such a variety of books recommended in the comments, and I'm here for them, lol! I've read At Home in Mitford. I love all the characters and the slow & quiet story. 📚❤️📚
My favorite book is The Scorpio Races. It's YA fantasy and, while it's different than your usual reading, I think you would enjoy it. I hope your granddaughter feels better soon!
I have a few recommendations: ‘The Outsiders,’ by S.E. Hinton, ‘Searching For Sylvie Lee,’by Jean Kwok and ‘The Girl He Used To Know,’ by Tracey Garvis Graves. Another book I recommend by her is ‘Heard It In A Love Song.’
Thank you so much, Jess. 💞 I read one book by Tracey Garvis Graves many years ago and quite enjoyed it. I'll definitely look into the ones you mentioned. The Sylvie Lee book sounds like a great mystery. And I love The Outsiders. What a classic that one is! ❤️📚
Hope your Grand daughter feels better soon. I think you would enjoy The Cambridge Bookshop Mystery series by Elizabeth Penney, also the Mystery Bookshop series by VM Burns. I think you would really enjoy the Winter Series by Joanne Demaio - the first one has a bit about the passing of a child. They are such descriptive books and each book can be read as a stand alone.
Try the Inspector Gamache books by Louise Penny. Nice mystery books. Take place in a quaint unknown town in Quebec. First book is called Still Life. There are 18 books in the series and I am on book 14.
I've heard of The series, but I've never read any of the books. I really appreciate you putting this series on my radar. I'm going to head over to my Libby right now and see if the series is there. Thanks! 🥰📚❤️

Hope your sweet little one gets feeling better soon. Bless her. I would like to highly recommend to you The Count of Monte Cristo! ha!!! I know it's your favorite book and I am still flying high after reading it myself (1,267 pages, aka 52 hours audio) which quite a feat for me. it was a pure pleasure. Here are my Tammy recommendations specifically for your reading preferences: This is a classic that I am certain you will love: The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Because you love John Steinbeck, The Red Pony. A perfect JS story with all the superb descriptions and heart-wrench. One that I am certain will make you laugh out loud, perhaps cackle, snort and guffaw too, recommended especially since I suspect your neighbors are the Bumpuses, is In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd Of course, me being me, none of those were published any sooner than 60 years ago. :P
