I just picked up a General XP and the first thing I noticed is how flat it feels in the corners for such a big unit. It would be awesome to see some mods done to it possibly clutch, springs and exhaust would be awesome. Thanks again for the great content 👍 love the channel 🤘

Love the content guys. I would like to say 2 things though. It would be neat to see both views at once around the track maybe put the GoPro video in the corner of screen. Also I would LOVE to see a brand new YXZ1000R SS go against the Talon. I do miss Doug's YXZ too. Great video, keep it up!

Not saying your completely wrong but don't yxz beat on the belt machines in short course? Not to mention the Honda does have much larger and heavier tires on it compared to stock and I think that general has stock tire setup.
@@nathanbaier9929 You're right, I'm just busting balls. I see the YXZ's success in short course, but when you see them in the dunes going up hills it sounds mean, just not fast (unles they have a Turbo). And I wish the Talon came stock with bigger tires, so 32's wouldn't starve it so bad.

I have to say, Rick was killing it on the front half of the track. Put up some very fast times from the jump to the start of the straightaway. And dang, Doug with the fast corners again. Some very nice driving from everyone. What a blast
i love watching these old videos with the general, seeing as i have the exact same one. Its great to see it get put to the full test from you guys.
Do some mods to the General. I think it would be enjoyed on the channel.
Something to think about. Just saw a vid on the Talon 0-60. Between stock tire and 32". Stock +/- 10sec. 32" +/-15 sec. Would’ve made a dig difference I think. Thanks for the content. Always fun and interesting.

You guys need to test a “rzr s 1000” lower seat height and lighter weight than the general, more like a rally car. Got great reviews when it first debuted. People who like smaller trail machines would like to be included in your reviews!!!!!!

I’m torn between a General and a Talon X. Hear a lot about the Polaris having trouble with reliability. Seems like the Polaris SxS is worn out by 6000 miles, but a Honda would keep rolling along past 20,000.

It’s sad that Polaris hasn’t learned to put a real transmission in a side by side or anything for that matter. Talon is much more reliable and will definitely last longer

I honestly never believed the talon would compare to other sport sxs and I'm not surprised on the outcome the more I see that transmission work the more I like my very reliable cvt
I bet with my talon x I could beat their time by about 1-3 seconds. If I can beat rs1s there’s no reason the genera should be anywhere close.
Watch and love every video and not typically a commenter, but I’d really like to see the talon rerun on stock tires to see if Polaris is really that far ahead of Honda in the utv game.
Yep I said the same thing those big heavy tires kill the speed.
Normally the 32's are great on it, but for this little short course the stocker's would probably be more beneficial for it.

Doug, you asked for General mods, this could be a running series! You could do a long term series on how much each mod lowers lap times! Go through the most common types of mods so us regular guys know where we can get the best bang for our buck. Tires, wheels, clutches, shocks, springs, sway bars, ride height, air filters, engine tuners, exhausts, etc. Include unconventional mods as well. My vote for the first unconventional mods on the General - Install a RZR Turbo steering rack (faster ratio). Tighten up the front end feel so it's easy to slide and correct unexpected behavior. Performance improvement prediction? 0.5 seconds a lap (I know, wildly outrageous, but it's more fun to guess big gains!) If the mods work, then sell them in the store!

Being on a machine that you are not used to is like riding someplace new if you are not careful it can hurt you fast. One of the first times I rode a quad I was watching a guy unload and play around a little bit honestly impressed by his skills until 20 minutes later and he was being lifelined out. Come to find out it was his first time there and not knowing the trails almost cost him his life because he was so good he thought not knowing the trails would not matter point being always start off slowly when you are dealing with a new machine or new trails overconfidence will get you hurt faster than anything else
Hopefully you guys will see this ... what y’all need for the talon is speed healers for the talon from 12’0clock labs .... it basically tricks the ecu into shifting harder faster or slower !! I just had them installed along with a 25% gear reduction to control my shifts ... I spin 35s on pavement in 4wd !! The ecu shifts from speed sensors on the diffs ... you need the H-4 plug 🔌... I believe ... also a tune would help out with the exhaust ... is Honda guys really want y’all to take all the sxs’s to the next level

Polaris general is a great machine. Would love too see you guys install the HCR long travel kit on it. They now have turbos for them as well, really blow the Sox off the crappy talon. Keep up the great work.

Coming from an XP1K, I'd love to try a General XP, but the price is hard to swallow when you're giving up power, suspension, and gaining weight.

would be sick if you guys put a RJWC exhaust and RVS tune on that Scrambler! got stage 2 tune, RJWC dual crossflow exhaust, EPI tuned primary and STM secondary on mine and its a beast!
Now you need to get the KRX (without 500 lbs. of mud on it) back out there and get times on it as well. Get the NA times all on their own scorecard.
Sous in the Talon would have really destroyed if he dropped lower in that right turn past tree before straight away, in my opinion. Great stuff guys!!

awesome vid, PS i suck at computers and can`t get on your parts site, just wanted to get you to check out { Red,White,&Roxor} these units are made bt Mahindra and were licensed by them in around 1954 to build replica jeep cj. These cool rigs have a diesel and are getting very popular in Canada and the USA and the owners are adding a turbo and getting the ICU reflashed which Doug is the king of and lift kits, big tires. These units are off-road toys and not road legal, you guys could become a dealer or at least a parts supplier, owners send their ICU out and wait for it to come back, please check these out have a great day
You need to upgrade the exhaust on the Polaris scrambler, a rjwc exhaust would be the best! If you do you also need to add a fuel controller as well. 🔥

It's crazy how much the sxs's have advanced. I have a renegade 1000 and think it's amazing but these sxs's make that scrambler look like a bicycle out there.
Next time don’t be afraid to rip the S and put those two machines to shame.

I have a rzr s 1000 which is basically the same as the general. They are deceptively quick and handle extremely well for their width. The talon would definitely be faster with stock size tires. It would also be faster using manual mode. Regular and sport mode are nice, but manual mode is where it's at for trying to get quick lap times.
That Talon needs a good Tune to be running 32’s. Contact Hess Motorsports or Complete off-road powersports services and bring that machine to life. Lots of hidden power in that Honda motor.

Great video, really looking forward to seeing the talon with a turbo kit! My guess is it will be really close to the turbo S, if the trans and Motor hold up to compare able boost.....
im still undecided on a side by side or ATV. I don't care which one costs more, it comes down to experience. This is my only concern...Everyone likes do the driving and rip thru trails.
On a side by side, there is always a possible 3 people not doing the driving.
Where on a ATV, there are more chances of getting that thrill, than to be a passenger in a side by side.
If i was apart of a family or friend group, i would want more people to get the experience at carving out the trails, then to be just sitting there as a passenger.
I think a side by side resembles more of a truck and SUV off-roading experience, because everyone is sitting down in a vehicle.
Where an ATV resembles more of a dual sport bike, jet ski, & snowmobile. Because you are sitting down on it like a horse, instead of a vehicle seat
And with that said, because of how huge the side by side market has become, i think it has kinda takin away with that small engine toy experience. Like you are getting on a horse and riding-off on an engine.
Where a side by side leans much more towards a real off road vehicle.

All I can say is qe go out with a bunch a guys probably 8 weeks a year everywhere on the eastern USA. All brands are in the group. Honda Talon is the only one that has not broke down ever. All other brands one way or the other qe end up working on them on the trail.
Nice video I always like talon footage. I wish you guys would get one of the 4 seater talons and do more extensive riding and testing to see how it is and hear your thoughts as I'm considering one. Leaning toward the live valve.

Love watching your videos, but I feel the talon can go a bit faster. On the tracks I race on my times between the talon 1000x and Rs1 are within .5 of each other, so there’s no reason the general should’ve won.
