yackta Thanx a lot!!! We are very pleased to not have disappointed you. What about a new video with "Horses" and "Bows". I felt in love with your slow motion pictures of Willow ;-)) Evi + Klaus
Hi Javaid Zaidi, this festival takes place in Poland, on the island of Wolin. Every year all modern Vikings meet in Wolin, in an old viking museum village, and celebrate old times. Old Norse was the language spoken by the Vikings, and the language in which the sagas, and most of the other primary sources for our current knowledge of Norse mythology were written. Feel free to watch all "21st Century Viking Stories" on our channel. You will find some more facinating videos. thanks for the nice comment and greetings from Berlin!! ;-))
You say old Norse was the language spoken by the Vikings. Has it survived the many years that have gone by? Notice the pantaloons being worn by some. This particular attire, I am told, was picked by the Vikings when they visited Palestine. I must say, Vikings were a very adventurous, brave people. They travelled North and South East and West. They went to areas which were hot and they went to lands which were freezing cold. Amazing people.
@@javaidzaidi The Norse language is still spoken by Icelanders today in a modern style. The language of the Viking Age is the source of many English words and the parent of the modern Scandinavian languages Icelandic, Faroese, Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian. So something has survived and modern Vikings try to keep it alive, when they celebrate the great viking festivals in Wolin and elsewhere. Still amazing people (now from all over the world ;-))
Thank you so much for this beautiful film. This is why I love my Sibbe, my Viking family; Thurs Sibbe. Feel welcome to join us or visit our market this season with the Doornenburg Ravens at Doornenburg Castle Netherlands.
Hi Margriet Brandsma, thank you so much for your kind comment and as we are only filmmakers, no "vikings", we are happy to know that the community feels well represented. Tell us more about your Sibbe, when and where is your market, if it is in our schedule we can think about a new Viking Story from die Netherlands... ;-)) warm greetings from Berlin.
Thanks filmmakers ! I loved the part where it is explained why it is such a pleasure to do this Viking style re-enactment living. Just to live close with each other as natural as possible, away from current age "normal" life, for a few days, a few times a year is truly healing. Our Sibbe is growing fast. People apparently have a need to get into contact with their natural side and find it this way. I'll respond later with update about our activities ! Have a great day. Love.
We look forward to it and in the meantime we strongly recommend you to watch Part 8, about our friends from Alsace, or Part 2 with friends from Poland, or maybe the episode 14, about the Swedish group Huskarlarna. All parts show the beauty of your lifestyles, which we appreciate very much.
Hi Rodislav Lubomirov, greetings from Germany and thanks for your questions. Wolin is in Poland but participants of the festival come from all over the world. Look for an re-enactment group in your country, learn a lot about life in the middle ages, be brave and show respect to people and soon you will find "your" group!! Feel free to watch all "21st Century Viking Stories" and learn more about the "Vikingworld". All the best from Berlin
Thormar Daneaxt OK, but this year one of the marshals got stabbed by one of the fighters. The guy was in a shock so he did not remember any shield designs. Lucky for him we did not find that bastard later on...
that´s realy bad. of this I have heard nothing. i think, that needs to be punished hard . each of the Fighters there on the battlefield carries responsibility for themselves and the other
Hi Gaemma Cherrypop, yes, you are right, reenactment is much, much more than "fighting", that's the reason we did more than 18 episodes of the series ;-)))) feel free to watch all of them, we tried to report on more facts about "Living History". Greetings from Germany!
Ist ja mal Oberhammer geworden ! Sehr schön zusammen gestellt. Super Kommentare zum Thema. Sehr gelungen. Könnt ihr echt Stolz drauf sein !!!!

Fascinating. Where exactly was this festival? I noticed some people speaking German. Did the Viking spoke German as well?
