- La compagnie Mazelfreten, composée du duo Laura « Nala » Defretin et Brandon « Miel » Masele, concocte un battle de danse spécial hip-hop avec DJ LUMII aux platines et Dandyguel au mic.
Devant un jury d’exception Lau Twins, Sam Yudat et Laura Nala, 8 danseurs (Laady Diva, Nickel, Lindsay, Reverse, CJM’S, Rubix, Miguel et Alex the cage) s’affronteront dans leurs styles, leurs mouvements pour Magic Barbès Social Club en collaboration avec le lieu FGO-Barbara.
Alex's 3rd round here reminds me of the first round he had against Majid in Battle Bad, just limiting himself mostly to footwork while still dancing at a high level.
I think that's what sets Alex apart nowadays, every now and then it feels like he's doing a challenge round by limiting himself to certain moves or concepts while still bringing in his elite execution and flavor. (He did it in his first round here too)
Limiting yourself to a set of rules (or in case of dancing - one step) is an advantage in art. When you work within a system you're not randomly moving, everything you do can have impact and make sense conceptually. A complete sandbox environement is never a good thing in art. A painting like Starry Night by Van Gogh is not as hard to create as hyperrealistic paintings but it's way more valuable artistically - because at the time it was establishing a new system of it's own and innovating within it. It moved the entire artform forward. That's why I consider Alex to be the best dancer in the scene, he clearly works with a specific system in mind and as effect what he does it never random. His first set from his majid battle was imo better than the third.
I didn't like it at all. I think I would have liked it if he did something cooler with his arms even if it was just some hip hop poses. Kinda like Ukay does.
I had the impression that 2022 in general he was rather battling his comfort zone and playing with finding new ways. Rarely did he really live up to his potential and the round looked somewhat flat like at SDF. But ho-ly shit! That 3rd round here is fucking mindblowing! 🤯
Alex is literally playing a minigame with himself in each round. He picks a concept before every round to follow just to give his opponents a chance lollll

He takes very complex parts of the song but simplifies them. 🔥🔥🔥
That is because as many pro dancers stated: Alex is incredibly methodical and calculated. He sticks to the flow while bringing angles, isolations and bounce which makes sense to the viewer. Many amateurs may don't understand the woo of what hes doing but he is incredibly talented and on the top of his game. Elite dancer.

Rubix não tá nesse nível ainda, vc pode até não gostar do Alex mas não pode negar o nível de talento do cara, Impecável.
O único diferencial do Alex é demonstrar calma e tranquilidade... Os passos deles são extremamente repetitivos e ele não aproveita bem as músicas, falta a ele muita criatividade e musicalidade
@@gtandroid5424 Mas poucos percebem que ele liga cada movimento. Ele não para e pensa noutro passo, ele já coloca outro e depois já liga noutro passo. Isso não é fácil, perceba que do início ao fim ele não descansa
@@gtandroid5424 bounce hip hop fundados, salsa, house transições limpas tanto do chão quanto de pé e até footwork misturando popping, tudo isso dentro de um round ou dois, imagina se ele "soubesse aproveitar as músicas".

Alex was smooth but I think the tracks were more favorable to Alex rather than rubix....he is beast for speed beat tracks ..
fast spazzy tracks hide your weaknesses. Some DJs play beats that are comically sped up.
Nah I think Rubix choked round 1 and then it was simply too late after that.
He also danced much better earlier in the competition, I think it was nerves.
When he's not under pressure or dancing someone he doesn't look up to, the difference is night and day.
@@KiiroSagi that something I've notice here been FLLLAMING people until it comes some of the finals sometimes at least this year, it's like he lost steam in this battle, vs Paradox, and vs Larry this year. He was cooking gourmet the whole tournament then turned off the stove for those final battles.
@@KiiroSagi Yea. He holds back to let the OGs win tbh. Dunno maybe it's out of respect or the trauma that comes with defeating your idols (which is a psychological weakness in itself). In recent times he's not been holding back though, especially after his rather embarrassing loss to Paradox at SDF.

I’d say it was either 2-x in favor or rubix or a tie. They both did amazing though. As a Rubix fan I’m just so happy to see him use that musicality he has and slow down his dance. (Not a power move every 5 seconds) GG alex.

Alex definitely showed the gap and difference in experience here.
Rubix had a great first round, but Alex got him beat on Groove, flow, consistency, timing, precision, rhythm and coordination lol.
Rubix had dynamics and made better use of the space, but on everything else he was pretty much beat.

Not mad that he lost though, his groove and flow could have been a lot better, Alex was more comfortable and there wasn't much hip-hop vibe (which is why I am critical of Alex Round 3).
You''re out off the loop here mate, thats basic hip hop footstep foundation, it look weird because he limited himself from using his upper body lol. You're so focused on the new style aspect of it that you completely forgot what the root of OG hip hop look like. Nala and Sam would not have given the win for Alex (even Lau didn't give the win to Rubix and gavehim a draw instead) if there wasnt any hip hop vibe into his dance lol

It looked and felt more like house dance or tap dancing than hip hop to me.
You know thinking about it now and only because I am being as fair to you as possible, his round would have probably looked stronger up close but in full view it looks inferior to Rubix round.

my personal opinion, i dont feel alex at all, just cant, really, i know his style is more relax, but still, cant feel him or aprecciate his dancing, is like he has no emotions on his dance, idk if i make myself clare.

I’ll say a unpopular opinion, old Alex, like way younger Alex in his old battles was a beast. Like crazy good. Nowadays I don’t want to hate bc we talk but he’d smoke us in a battle but definitely a style change or intensity change forsure.

Dont get me wrong Alex ist amazing, but every round its like watching great technik aspecially his footwork, but thats all u get. For me dance is more than just flow to a rhythm. And there we got rubix, who got more creativity and versaitile in my opinion, trying to tell u a Story everytime he dances u can also connect to. Great battle etherway but both did better in previous battles, but for me rubix took the win for more versaitile.
Alex the cage dances like continuous joined up writing. Rubix is more like all capital letters. Neither is wrong just different.
IMO alex won as to my eye his concepts are simple but they never deter from the groove. the keep building like a wave in the ocean. I don’t think it was Alex’s best battle but honestly it didn’t need to be.
Rubix has very good highlights in every round but couldn’t match Alex’s continual groove/flow. His style is hard to overcome.
Both styles are polar opposite also.
The things is, dancing is essentialy flowing to a rhythm. The more you stay on beat all throughout in a coherent matter while adding complexity and building up, the better it is. The problem is, there are points in a lot of dancer's styles where that rhythm is interrupted and Alex is really good at always mixing the right amounts of complexity and continuity without jumping off the rhythm and that's one of the many reasons he wins so much.

I think he tried to isolate/freeze on the bass beat but didn't really work out.
It was on beat, timing was just slightly off cause he's not a bboy.

I had it as rubix winning the first two and a tie for the last round. I don’t find Alex’s style as appealing imo. I do see the art in it but it isn’t what I like. Rubix used way more musicality this event and I love that so much. Imo rubix is at his best when he doesn’t rely on power moves to wow the crowd. He did amazing but gg Alex.
There's things Rubix did very well here, but there's no way Rubix had more or better musicality than Alex in this battle lol. It's night and day.

I think some of judges just akways find a reason to make rubix lose. Maybe they are acred he might accomplish what they didn't.
Just 2-3 steps from Alex and he won what the wrong with judges , i am also a Alex fan but Rubix was more energetic , class and versatile ...apart from 3 round nothing new has done by alex just as usal..

I’m sorry but Alex is just underwhelming. His moves are basic, slow, and just seem lazy. Rubix had much more creativity and musicality throughout each round. And the last round should’ve nailed the coffin shut. He was perfect that entire round. Not sure how he lost but I trust Larry’s opinion so 🤷♂️
