You’ve gotta love it that out of everyone there, Croc-u-bot wound up being the best person because his reasoning for doing the things he did were strictly logical and unfeeling. The Vindicators weren’t great people, but Croc-u-bot had the virtue of literally lacking a conventional conscience
I love how Rick overcomplicated it, Rick could of handled them a hundred ways like using his cybernetics to hack them or something simple like that but a gadget that takes the bullets, makes them into robots and programs the robots to block the barrels. Such a Rick thing to do.
A shame that Dan Harmon hates this episode. I think it's brilliant. Just bc Morty's character develops before the end of the episode isnt a bad thing. You'd think this would happen more often with him being around rick so much.

I disagree with Dan that this episode doesn’t follow the hero’s journey, it just does it with Rick rather than with Morty. His development is him being shown the harm that his irresponsibility brings to others.

the vast majority of people have some sort of thing they like and wrap their ego around to define themselves instead of actually developing a personality of their own. the exceptions are about one in 10,000 so... most people actually deserve it "rude" as he might be. the glass houses argument would have been a valid comeback but people mistakenly think that believing something gives it inherent value in general rather than a personal attachment and wind up miffed when they can't actually justify the homunculus of a self image they inevitably ended up with. really rather pathetic when you think about it, even worse extrapolated to an entire species.
I like to believe rick had some kind of finger gun when he was on "high alert" it wouldve been funny if they added a subtle transform in his arm when he got spooked.
I love this episode because of how it lampooned these big budget super hero movies. Don’t get me wrong, I used to love them and I still do if they’re pre-2010. But I found Rick’s cynicism hilarious.
Honestly hope we get another prequel focusing on the Vindicators again, the dynamic they have here is actually interesting and well choreographed plus would be nice to see more Alan and Crocubot
