*1995 American Ikarus / NABI 436.06 (60-SFW)
*1988-90 Flxible Metro-B
*1999-00 Orion II
*1997-98 Orion V
I have been since I rode the Orange Line all the way to New Carrollton [M] Station for the first and spotted the yard, wanted to get video of the buses that will be scrapped. Luckily I got the chance to explore the yard and view the buses inside & out. Not only that, get the last Flxible from Landover Division (or anywhere) before it was sent off on a flatbed truck to the scrap yard.

R.I.P. Flexibles and Nabi's. I just wish I could take one of these.
Flxibles are my favorite coach. I'd love to find a 40-footer and convert it to an RV.
Those 1980s/1990s Flxibles and Orion buses MADE the fleet! :D
over at Fort Totten Scrapyard got GMC,FISHBOWL WMATA BUSES,FLXIBLE NEW LOOK WMATA BUSES AND GMC RTS WMATA BUSES THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING PAINT IT SOME IN D.C. TRANSIT COLOR AND CREATED METROBUS AGAIN AND BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE
I'm going to enjoy seeing and riding on the remaining Orion V's before the fleet becomes all low-floor
Wow you are lucky as many times as I rode past there on the train just looking down at them I would love to do what you are doing.But I would love to be walking around old WMATA flixibles fishbowls and New Look Grumman.
I spotted that yard a few times except now I see the other yard where buses come in
This hurt me too much I'm gonna miss the orions orion v are my absolute favorite bus but at least I can ride em whenever I want pretty much
at least the Orion VII's will still be active after all the XDE40, XN40 and XDE60'S are delivered replacing the Orion V, Neoplan AN460A, and New Flyer C40LF

Yes the C40LF are being replaced by XN40
sad in a way to see how those buses just sit there and its really sad how that Flexible being towed to be scaped.
Yea they are in the yard where the more up to date Bus fleet are.
Some of these buses stll look like they are in good shape.
7:57 IIRC, MTA did send a few of them down to Ocean City for service. I remember riding one of those in 2010 on Labor Day Weekend.
I miss these buses. I used to catch these buses on Route 52 53 and 54 a lot and I was upset when I found out they were going to have them scrapped.
I would love to purchase one of those Orion V or Flexible buses.
They are way to young to be scrapped it's called a little TLC.
#4329, #4340, #4346, #4350, #4370, and other unknown fleet numbers were in the graveyard as of 2012. ( I'm from Chicago, not Washington D.C. )
MJofLakeland1, are there any 1999 Orion V’s in this video or just 1997 Orion V’s? The 1999 Orion V’s were all retired along with some 1997 Orion V’s in 2012.
Used to love the Orion II and the Orion VI and the Orion V
Again so cool you don't know how bad I would love to walk around cool buses.I've seen a pic of the old Metro fishbowls and it was like this a retired yard for them and it was at Foggy Bottom.I don't know if it's still there but I would love to sit on the old fishbowls hell I would love to be within finger length.Great Video.
Those look like busses from the 90's & 80's Era, right.

I wish that I could just walk into the retired bus depot. METRO wouldn't let me. I could have done this for all the Neoplan AN460 units that were retired between 2009-2012. I miss those. If I had the money and the blueprint, I'd have a modern one built with modern design like the German Neoplan.

If 100 of Orion VI's wouldn't constantly catch up the fires, the remained 4200's would've been retired all at the same time.

I know one of the old looks GMC flxible Fishbowl at the landover yard but that's the historical bus along with the RTS.But one day as I was on the metro train going over the Landover yard I saw a Flxible B I think but it had the old Metro Color scheme which I miss.
What a shame I would so want one of these buses

the buses are taken to the bus graveyard until they are ready to be disassembled and scrapped. the buses sit there like an empty Ghost Town, It's haunting

To get in there. Not tryna get on you but I never would risk that. My freind that works at CET told me that its wmata property, so you do that at your own risk.

One of the guys who was waiting for the tow bed to arrive to tow the Flxible let me go through. I wasn't expecting to go in but hey free opportunity no matter how much someone else was pissed to not have that privilege... or luck.

what an awful waste to see, when back in the day they used to last (Orion) 30-50 Years.
