    11 carriers might seem excessive but I don't think so. The US is the center of a world wide economy, so it has carriers roughly proportional to trade. If it wasn't US carriers then it would be someone else, and there is no shortage of jerks who would be happy to take over.

    • @zenon7094

      It only seems excessive when you do not need those carriers. But if you look at the current crisis areas (Middle East, China, North Korea, Russia), it is probably better to have a few more than to few. As a German whose country does not have any carriers, I am glad that the Americans are our friend and allies.

      China and Russia are already starting to demand 'pilotage and transit' fees for seas that they are claiming are inland waterways as if the were rivers or lakes. Once this gets out of hand global trade starts dying. You won't even get investment in super tankers and giant container ships if they are subject to piracy and arbitrary seizure. Adams created the USN and Marine Corps because US ships and crews were being held hostage by Barbary prirates. He was particulary worried about his daughter Mary seeing him in France.

When the DeGaulle is down for either short term or longer term maintenance outages like a nuclear reactor refueling the French Navy Dassault Rafales are temporarily reassigned to US aircraft carriers to keep their pilots qualifications.

The F-35 B is the "STOVL," or "short take off and vertical landing" version. The C is used on carriers and has a greater wingspan for better fuel efficiency. A VTOL like the Harrier or the VTOL version of the F35 has limits. VTOL is not "free of charge": it needs a huge weight of specific mechanical equipment for this, which forbids full charge vertical take-offs in some weather conditions.
    For a (very) little nation like France - however having ground bases on a lot of hot spots worldwide - the need is a multirole airplane : thanks to Catobar on the Charles de Gaulle also, Rafale can take off from any carrier with full load of amunition and ordnance, which is not possible with a ramp nor with VTOL all the time.

      @@didierjacob250 You also realize that those aircraft were handicapped severely during red the red air excercises you're talking about. Usually they make them fight within visual range. (Which negates entirely the advantages in radar, sensing and stealth technology that are possed by the F-35 and F-22. They also tend to only allow them to carry certain shorter range missles or sometimes no missles at all and only allow them to use certain EW/Jamming systems.) It's kind of like saying "hey, I beat up mike tyson while his hands were cuffed behind his back!" 😂😂 In real life, the F-35 or F-22 would most likely take out pretty much any plane in existence before that plane even knew they were in the area. The only one with a chance really is the J-20, but even then I don't think they could quite hang with either jet. The chinese just aren't there with their stealth technology yet. Russia DEFINETLY isn't. One of the main facets of a stealth plane is that there can't be any edges or parts that stick out and return radar. The recent crash if the S70 Ohotnik showed that not only is russia not even close to the US, but their stealth technology is relatively non-existant. Not only was there no RAM on the drone to speak of, but there were exposed rivets EVERYWHERE. It was supposed to be their equivalent if the B-2 bomber, but it looks like something that was made by children in 8th grade shop class. 😂😂

    lets talk about military tech in WW2.
    Germany was way superior and they lost,
    the Allies had the numbers, more soldiers more of lower quality equipment.

    • @gregutdmglaucos3757
      @gregutdmglaucos3757 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it's partly a legend, they were better in certain areas (especially tactics) but technically not that superior, the tanks were fragile but reliable at the beginning (panzer 1 2 3 4) then resistant but a strong tendency to fall broken down and cost horribly expensive (panther, tiger 1 and 2) to the point of rising to 50% of the losses due to breakdowns.
      and spend their resources on very advanced projects but neither up to date nor relevant.

    • @jakeb3157
      @jakeb3157 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes and no, the allies were in the same weight class technologically in most areas even when the Germans had somewhat better equipment, the allies were developing jet aircraft around the same time as the Germans although the Germans deployed them first, the Germans had much more advanced rocket technology, but the Manhattan project was years ahead of the German nuclear weapons program. The Germans had some very good tanks and other front line equipment but the vast majority of allied equipment was not completely obsolete in comparison. Most of the Germans early successes were probably due more to more advanced tactics and communications rather than technology. Technology alone is not always a decisive factor but it can be, if the allied armies were equipped toworld war one standards they would certainly have lost the war no matter how many bodies they threw at the Germans. Numbers can make up for technological drawbacks to some degree but if technology or tactics are too outdated numbers can only go so far.
