Marcelo Cabuli became Tarja Turunen's manager and eventually married her. Upon inking the contract (which gave him total control) he immediately started putting the screws to the band for more and more and more money, making demands for private jets, on and on. He turned Tarja against the band. Of course, the band responded in kind. Part of the problem was that Cabuli was making outrageous demands behind Tarja's back and the band thought she was generating those demands. Tarja announced to the band that she intended to quit so she could launch her solo career. They all agreed on a date well into the future so as to finish off tours, an album etc. However, Tarja and Cabuli didn't live up to their end of the agreement so the band fired her ahead of the original date for her leaving, making her the victim in the eyes of many, even today. "Master Passion Greed" is a diss song directed at Cabuli. "Bye Bye Beautiful" is directed at Tarja and the "Poet and the Pendulum" deals with Tuomas becoming depressed and suicidal as a result of the fan backlash. An interesting anecdote - don't know how true it is - apparently the music video for "Bye Bye Beautiful" contained pretty girls playing the band members as the metal music press had alleged that Tuomas had hired Anette only because she was pretty. Real soap opera stuff . . . BTW, Jukka was on the drums. Kai didn't come in until after the Imaginaerium tour ended in 2013.
Tuomas said in an interview that back in 2005 they first looked at Floor but thought they probably couldn't get her to leave "After Forever" because that band was really hitting it's stride and had several albums doing really good in Europe. Tuomas stated he really wanted Floor back then but decided to go with Anette instead. Floor was the first thought in his mind when Anette went to the hospital because she wasn't touring with Revamp then because she was just coming off her breakdown.
Finally a correct piece about the shit this man brought to Nightwish. What a terrible evil dude. Them also being old childhood friends (Emppu, Tuomas and Tarja) and drifting them apart must have been super painful.
@@monicacarolina6480You can see it during their last concert together with Tarja 2005 before firing her the next day. When the concert just started there was a short moment Tuomas was not able to play and hides his face behind his arms. Later when Tarja has left the stage for clothes changing and they sing "High Hopes" without her they must have felt every word of this song; perhaps also of this it has become so incredibly good and deeply felt. Jukka also at one moment during this song hides his head under his arms and Emppu went to him for support. I have heard that this migraine thing was not right so it must have been that he had been overwhelmed by his feelings. It must have been a really hard concert for the four friends.
Jukka was always such a beast on drums, but crap...! I miss him... Don't get me wrong, Kai is awesome, but Jukka brought some monster energy to the band!

This song is one of the Tarja departure Trilogy. The other two are"The poet and the pendulum" and "Bye bye beautiful".These three are very different from each other, yet awesome in their own way. "The poet and the pendulum" is an epic symphony "Master passion greed" is thrash metal "Bye bye beautiful" is kind of like a pop-rock song Tuomas wrote this song with Marko (if i am not mistaken) towards Tarja's husband / manager , after Tarja left . Because the angry nature of that song , it will never see live concert . It's really a relatively violent song for Nightwish. Tuomas pretty much blames Cabuli for everything, on and off the mic, that happened to Tarja, and this song's making it perfectly clear -exactly- where he stands, while still being poetic. A good combination with Bye Bye Beautiful. One as a final word, a final goodbye, and one as a screaming "Fuck you" to the sky. NWSU. 🤘😎🤘
What happened. Shortly Tarja married Marcelo. Then she made with Marcelo contract were she gave all her professional and money rights to Marcelo. Guys founded Scene Nation company and asked Tarja to be part of it, she refused. Marcelo started booking Solo gigs to Tarja and guys booked gigs to Nightwish. First Tarja begin to have voice trouble cause of too many gigs. Then eventually guys were asked to cancel Nightwish gig so Tarja would have been able to do Solo gig. Then when they were on world tour Tarja had said she'd do one more album and following world tour. After that during tour guys decided to fire Tarja. And did that by letter after End of an Era dvd recording gig. They didn't want to do one more album and tour with her. And then came media storm that winds even today once in while. Mostly around Dark Passion Play album songs. By the way she wasn't actually fired since she was like freelance singer for them. Her contract just expired and she didn't get new one.
hmmm? who knows the story?? haha Everyone!!! Ok this song and I must admit you'll love it, it's my very best favorite and it's the heaviest song they've done but there is no live version of it and never will be. The lyrics are pretty harsh and they're about Tarja's husband whom they feel instigated the actions causing her to be fired, but Tuomas said it will never appear in any of their live playlists cause he's not that guy anymore. I don't think you've played "The Poet and the Pendulum" yet and these go together, I would advise researching the song before you play it cause it's personal and very emotional and distressing to Tuomas and the band when they had to fire Tarja and they didn't know what was going to happen and they were just getting to be well-known and didn't even know if they would be able to continue and it tore Tuomas up cause she was one of the original members and a childhood friend, and even the fans turned against him, so that's basically the whole premise laced with Edgar Allen Poe in the "Poet and the Pendulum" a very emotional production. Hope that helps.
Poet and the pendulum is so emotional song that I allways cry when I listen it. Floor is just a right person to sing it, no other can do it the way she does it. I think it's best song that Tuomas has ever wrote 👍💕

An "ode" to Marcello, Tarja's husband. The greed he had, destroyed their band. Forbidding Tarja to perform in the States, because the small venues were not bringing in enough money (small audience in the USA) not letting her travel with the guys, but needing her own tourbus, not letting her rehearse the songs with the band. He is some evil, greedy and insecure dude and you feel the anger and hate they feel towards him. This message is SO powerful, it must have been not a joke having a song like this deticated to you. I just love how they express their feelings in their music. True feelings from admiration, love to despite and hate. Bye bye beautiful is a message to Tarja herself, also angry...but not this hateful. When you listened to these songs, you understand the Poet and the pendulum even more. (you in general) Thank you
This was about the Tarja breakup. I think, If memory serves, it was directed at Marcello (Tarja's hubby). I may be wrong, but it seems like that is what I heard. It was a "gritty one" that's for sure. haha.
Tarja with a her controlling hubby, began to think she was above the band, stopped travelling with them, would show up for rehearsals if she wasn't too busy with friends or preparing for her solo show. She wanted more money, and took no part in writing. Her job was just to show up for the show and sing, oh and she said she wanted to give up the smaller gigs like the ones in the United States. You really need to listen to Bye Bye Beautiful, the official video, it was really wrote more towards Tarja, this one was mostly focused on her husband. Angry Tuomas writes some delicious hardcore stuff. Nice reaction and cool sounds in your music.
Don't tell me you just believe everything on that pathetic letter. Tarja is such a sweetheart, have always been. She didn't do anything, they haven't done since they fired her. She wanted shorter tours, less frequent concerts to save her voice, her own solo career and she wanted to travel with her husband. Can you blame her? She just matured 10-15 years earlier than guys.

This one is probably as much about Tarja's then husband. They realized that he was a major influence behind the scenes, convincing her to concentrate her attention towards a more profitable solo career.. Because of the escalating "I don't need Nightwish attitude", tension between her and everyone else over the last few years had became very rough.. Until one night after a show they gave her a letter basically firing her.. After that all the national news interviews she did were like "I don't know what happened, they just blindsided me".
They also released the letter to the public shortly after they gave it to her, presumably to outmaneuver Marcelo Cabuli (Tarja's then husband and manager) who would have no doubt tried to turn the public against the band to further Tarja's career, and thus his own fortunes. The letter details the reasons they felt she had to go, and was not particularly angry, though it was scathing as all hell. They listed very specific allegations, off the top of my head 1) That she had once wanted to cancel a sold-out live Nightwish show in order to save her voice for a rehearsal for a solo concert; she was under the weather at the time and her voice would not have been able to safetly handle both. 2) That despite being ostensibly in a band together, the rest of the group had at times gone for more than a year (between tours/recording sessions) without hearing from her at all. 3) That during the entire time she was with them, she never once rehearsed with the rest of the band before recording, instead preferring to rehearse on her own. 4) That she had once told Tuomas that she had "never really considered herself a full member of the band" and thought of herself as "more of a guest singer". 5) That she had seemed to become more interested in the money than in the music; a cardinal sin in the eyes of the other members of the band. Tarja responded by saying that she "didn't recognize the person they were describing [as her] in the letter"

Heaviest riffs, drums, keyboards, guitar, lyrics & vocals all wrapped into one song! A heavy chapter in the diary of Tuomas - NW songs are his diary of emotions. That’s why you loved the riff and the Metallica vibes which is where Tuomas first discovered the joy of metal.
this song and meadows of heaven is 2 nightwish songs what are huge hits but never truly ending stage, only record. when mpg is rage song, meadows of heaven is opposite song with usa gospel singers ( anette sing, nightwish second singer song). thanx to great reaction. my love go to tarja always. this song playing still finish rock radio station playlist.
man..alot of ways to go on nightwish...can go with the pink floyd cover "high hopes" sung by marko...floor way back in her old band called revamp song is disdain.....nightwish's devil and the deep dark ocean...ghost river....slayin the dreamer...a long list...lol....then when ready and prepared the greatest show on earth and poet and the pendulum
This is one song they have never played in public (or ever will)... fall out from the social media storm that surrounded them firing their original lead singer Tarja. Also about her husband who they felt was greedy and interfering. The letters from the band to Tarja and her response are readily available online. You can feel the venom of the anger - the heaviest song (metalwise) that I've heard from them. Thankfully they have managed to move on.... Floor has performed with Tarja and they are friends... the boys not so much.
One of my favorite songs! If you’d like to see a video listen to Master Passion Greed (Special Video). It’s a montage put together by a fan & they did an amazing job!
This song is projected to Marcello, Tarja's husband who screwed up things big time. Bye bye beautiful (also hard angry song, but more sadnes and less evil) was written for Tarja.
"they sound angry" you just said and understatement of 2006, they are not HERE now, and as such for as awesome as angry Nightwish is, you will never here this live. This is the break up trilogy, along with Bye bye beautiful and Poet and the Pendulum
It would be awesome to see this live, but Tuomas said he moved on from that feeling and wants to leave it in the past. But on the other hand... Tuomas is also past the feelings of the Poet and the Pendulum and they do play that one live. Sometimes Tuomas turns off vocals in his inner ear though when they play that song. It's just too emotional for him.
It's because TPATP is about Tuomas depression, this one is against another person. So he feel he can play a song about himself even if he moved on, but it's not so fair to do it for a song that involve someone else. Also Bye Bye Beautiful which is adressed to Tarja at some point desappeared from the setlists (maybe can also have something to do with Floor who is a friend of Tarja, I don't know for sure). Anyway also TPATP is rarely played, and if I'm not wrong never after the Wembley 2015 show.
@@Fabi72g Exactly! Everyone knows exactly who this song is directed at, so if the band ever did play it again (in ANY format), it would essentially be declaring war against Tarja and her husband. Whether or not they ever truly reconcile, everyone involved has already adopted a "let bygones be bygones" attitude, so there is no reason (either logically nor emotionally) to rip the scabs open and start a pointless (and damaging) fight. This song exists, but that's the end of it as far as the band's involvement goes (essentially, from the band's perspective this song will never again see the light of day).
haha, told ya! Thought you'd like that. Well Bill seems to have covered the story pretty well, I guess her husband was a piece of work but he did seem to turn her against everybody, and even though it was Tuomas that wrote the letter it was a UNANIMOUS decision with all the band members and of course, it goes right into "The Poet" but if you don't want to get into that right away you might try "Shudder Before the Beautiful" they opened with that one at Wembley and wow if you want to get the crowd going that's the one to start with, and then there's "Seven Days to the Wolves" where Floor goes "Medieval" haha that's a good one, and I don't know if you want to branch out but if you've never heard or played them you might try Amon Amarth "Twilight of the Thunder Gods" or "Pursuit of Vikings", thanks for listening keep up the good work.
"Master Passion Greed"is only one of the Tarja removal trilogy. The other two are "The poet and the pendulum" and "Bye bye beautiful". The poet and the pendulum is a 14 min epic symphony. Thats what you get when you piss off Tuomas,Marko and the Band..Bye Bye Marcello. ( one Question to the fans, is he today married and manager of Tarja? )
There are 3 songs regarding the event of Tarja leaving the band: Bye bye beautiful is about Tarja and they played it live for a bit but this quickly stopped and they haven't played it again nor will they. Poet and the Pendulum is about the fall-out that Tuomas got for letting Tarja go. They also stopped performing this song live. This song is about Tarja's hunband/manager who they blamed the most for the things that happened. Justified or not is open for debate but at this point it doesn't really matter. This song has NEVER been played live and it never will.
They released a lot ange in this song. And if u haven't heard the demo version of Poet and the Pendelum, I suggest u check that out. Marco sings in that too solo, and there are few things that were edited from version they do live. Tarja or her manager husband Marcelo got greedy and little jealous of all the band members being close friends with Tarja. But mostly Marcelo wanted her to perform only bigger venue's, and ba'd felt l Iike their integrity was in jepordy. So she and Marcelo had to go.
Heh, when Nightwish decides to make the filthiest song (still melodic, with purpose and direction, not mindless), that could rival almost any band of thrash genre, it's literal music to my ears.
It is a burst of anger by Tuomas and the band for Marcelo who mixed up the relations with Tarja and the band boys as they feel so. Anette is not here cause she is an outsider of that what happened. By the way...all NW songs are great...do not put them into a n order.
Marcelo Cabuli became Tarja Turunen's manager and eventually married her. Upon inking the contract (which gave him total control) he immediately started putting the screws to the band for more and more and more money, making demands for private jets, on and on. 1) That she had once wanted to cancel a sold-out live Nightwish show in order to save her voice for a rehearsal for a solo concert; she was under the weather at the time and her voice would not have been able to safetly handle both.

Blind Channel! Yes :)
Love this song! Marco songs are the best and I love heavy stuff.
Kiitos❤
What I think of this song...
It is the Power and Beauty of Pure Anger being Released!...
Great reaction, can see you "feeling" the power!
I hope you watch the video montage made by a fan…it’s really good! Look for Master Passion Greed (Special Video). I think you’ll like this song!
My very favorite Nightwish song.
you should react to Slaying the Dreamer if you liked one, it’s another angry Nightwish song lol, cheers.
man..alot of ways to go on nightwish...can go with the pink floyd cover "high hopes" sung by marko...floor way back in her old band called revamp song is disdain.....nightwish's devil and the deep dark ocean...ghost river....slayin the dreamer...a long list...lol....then when ready and prepared the greatest show on earth and poet and the pendulum
This song is very LITERAL! Great song, Bye, Bye Beautiful next for some equal time to Marcelo! I think it was the best Anette song!😉
as comments say... its directed at tarjas hubby... the 1 at her you could say is Bye Bye Beautiful
Listening you LIVE at the moment...
I guess you should also try The band that features Floor Jansen's husband, the band called Sabaton and bonus, he happens to be a drummer.
Hasn't Marko sang with Tarja on Raskasta Joulua -tour? I think so.
@@copperboomm3962 yes they have 👍
@@copperboomm3962 they did a performance of ave maria and hugged at the end. th-cam.com/video/-2e-PIsUXHo/w-d-xo.html
@@copperboomm3962 Yes! And in very warm way.
Floor has known Tarja since her After Forever days and has sung with her many times
I love how creative it is
I think Poet and Pendulum was the drama song? Korjatkaa jos olen väärässä.
Great song, thanks
Glad you noticed the bass tone, growling like a huge fucking beast, awesome!
That outro- wicked
"they sound angry" you just said and understatement of 2006, they are not HERE now, and as such for as awesome as angry Nightwish is, you will never here this live. This is the break up trilogy, along with Bye bye beautiful and Poet and the Pendulum
Tarja responded to this song with the song "enough". when she sang it live you feel all that feeling. th-cam.com/video/6k9VFf8JcwY/w-d-xo.html
It's more a dis against Marcelo, Tarja's husband
Stereo work sound bit similar with Emppu's moving live on stage
Well, can't wait for this one!
Check out scaretale for some good drums and riff!!
Yes - one of the best ones. And only with headphones!!! Would be nice to have „Alpenglow“ …. (Totally different, but I like it too)
WOW
I know right!!

Exactly!
🤘🤘❤🤘🤘 Talk about creative venting!!!!! 😉❤✌
haha, told ya!
You should defenetliy react to Slaying the dreamer with Tarja
"Master Passion Greed"is only one of the Tarja removal trilogy. The other two are "The poet and the pendulum" and "Bye bye beautiful".
The poet and the pendulum is a 14 min epic symphony. It's about Tuomas's depression and suicidal thoughts. It's the best song Tuomas has ever composed IMO. Please react to the Wembley 2016 version with lyrics.

bye bye beautiful is a pop-rock song. It's a "love" letter to Tarja :). They perform it live very few time, but there's an amazing music video for you to react.

StumPank Rock!)
Thats what you get when you piss off Tuomas,Marko and the Band..Bye Bye Marcello. ( one Question to the fans, is he today married and manager of Tarja? )
Husband at least...probably her manager too.
@@NightwishArena okay, thank you for the Information. 🤘
There are 3 songs regarding the event of Tarja leaving the band:
Bye bye beautiful is about Tarja and they played it live for a bit but this quickly stopped and they haven't played it again nor will they.
This is NOT about Tarja - it is aimed at her husband / manager. The lyrics are specific.
But mostly Marcelo wanted her to perform only bigger venue's, and ba'd felt l
Iike their integrity was in jepordy. So she and Marcelo had to go.
And your next one, too?
Ouch, there is a lot of hate there.
Unexpected heavyness in the bagging area.
Can i send you real NFL cap, dont you think that plastic look lika a bandage in your head. Love your work.
Sure! I’ll always take free hats haha. But that’s the SnapBack look!
Headphones REQUIRED...you're missing out
LOL..no sooner had said..YOU said the same!
Druns sounds like Slayer :)
🤘🤘🇫🇮
Heh, when Nightwish decides to make the filthiest song (still melodic, with purpose and direction, not mindless), that could rival almost any band of thrash genre, it's literal music to my ears.
It is a burst of anger by Tuomas and the band for Marcelo who mixed up the relations with Tarja and the band boys as they feel so. Anette is not here cause she is an outsider of that what happened. By the way...all NW songs are great...do not put them into a n order.
