  • On February 27th, we held the second webinar in our Climate-Resilient Fisheries Webinar Series. Malin Pinsky and Brandon Muffley presented on their work predicting near-term fisheries shifts under climate change. As global ocean temperatures have warmed, fish and invertebrate species have undergone significant migrations, posing challenges and opportunities for fisheries managers worldwide. This research team has spearheaded the development of models to forecast distribution shifts of key species along the U.S. East Coast over 1 to 10 years. Their approach, which integrates ocean conditions with species biology, offers invaluable short-term insights crucial for effective fisheries management.
