From what I can tell, lizard (at least the kind I have which I think is a different species, so YMMV) is tough, but thin, so it probably won’t scuff or anything like that, but it may crack if it dries out. I use Bickmore Exotic on it (also on croc, ostrich, snake, etc).

What a great deal! I have a different style exotic Hermes wallet and love it! WRT the Ulysse you want, be careful… vintage blue jean can have the infamous skunk smell… ask me how I know 🙄 I was so happy the dealer accepted returns.
Maybe the plastic zipper is to keep metal from interacting with the leather in some unfortunate way? A plastic zipper on Hermes does seem like kind of an odd design choice! Or maybe they were trying to make it lighter?

I have one of the Bearn wallets you showed in the Barenia leather (my FAVORITE ❤leather). I have other wallets but can’t bring myself to change because it’s my favorite ❤

talking about 'bad influences', please consider changing the led lights on your purse displays! I found out the hard way that those led lights can fade various materials, including leather. It scares me to see your birkin with those lights facing it 😭 please leave a reply if you see this comment so I don't stay up at night worrying about your birkin getting light fade marks.
I get how you feel about the zipper, but the thicker H is much more important. You can always avoid showing the plastic, but the sturdy H is a show stopper!!! 💙🩵
