Thank you for the book recommendation. The timing was perfect as I’m hoping to go to Waterstones tomorrow for a new read so I’ll definitely try and find it! Like you, time to read is hard to find .. I try and squeeze in a chapter of two before bed. I’ve not tried the Style Arc Hope dress yet but I love yours. I might have to copy yours in the gorgeous Sew Haley Jane fabric which I love! Thank you xx
I feel your pain with the Jenna. I am stuck on the next step. They have a different construction for the cuff and I just can’t get my head round it 😊 so it’s been in the naughty corner since the end of last year 😂
My book recommendation is The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O Farrell. It is the story of a young girl set in 1560. I found it really absorbing and the character very resilient. Thank you for the vlog. I like the fabrics for the Hope woven dresses. ☺️
Tamlyn, I used to read everything I could get my hands on. Sadly, age crept up and with it came tired, overworked eyes from years of reading, then computer work, and now sewing. So now I combine my love of sewing with my love of books by listening to them. It's also a huge time saver being able to take a book along in the car, traveling, etc. This book is in my Audible wish list! The narrator of the audiobook is actress Sutton Foster (she starred in the tv show Younger). I'm hoping the book goes on sale soon because it sounds amazing! Thanks for sharing it with us.
I've just finished 'Little Bird of Auschwitz' by Alina and Jacques Peretti, and Alina is the 'Little Bird' in question. I picked it up from our village book exchange which is in an old telephone box. The son, Jacques, has written it with help from his mother Alina who is now suffering from dementia so he was keen to get it all down before she got worse. She can actually recall those days better than recent times, which is normal for dementia sufferers. It jumps about a bit, but it was very interesting from the perspective of that one family and what they went through in the latter stages of the war.
I will be interested to see how your Hope dresses look in both fabrics. I have (intentionally) dropped from a size 16 to 12 last year and don’t want to go back to the oversized styles I was wearing before but all the images online look huge.
I've made it twice before, where I graded from a 12 at the shoulders/bust, in to a 10. However I've recut the pattern to a straight size 10 this time, as I felt those versions fell back at the neckline and shoulders. I'll share how I get on, but I definitely think you can achieve the look you desire by sizing down. I don't like things too oversized either. x
The Style Arc dress fabrics are beautiful! I like your new fabrics really pretty as well! Your WIP is so close to done, you’ll have it done before March, I just know it!
A nice chatty catchup. Looking forward to seeing both you your Hope dresses. Thanks for the book recommendation. I’m also an avid reader, but can’t find the time for it as much as I’d like to. Part of the novel you’re reading took place in Florida. My sister was a member of the sorority at the university where the crime occurred, but had graduated a few years earlier. Happy sewing, Tamlyn.
I e been trying to perfect the Jenna collar. The front of the collar stand, where a button could be, is a real struggle for me. Any suggestions? Anyway, I love your fabric!
Taylor is 5! I must have been following you a long time, remember you being pregnant. Moving to Northumberland next month, so hopefully one day I can arrend a sewtoon
A skirt in the floral would look stunning x😊
Thank you for the book recommendation, it sounds really good! I need to get back in to it - I lost my read-jo! 😂
Love the book recommendation ❤

The books I loved recently Notes on an Execution, Betty and Shadow of the Wind
I also start my cross stitch or embroidery with the loop method. I also do that when I sew buttons because I sew them with a double thread 😊
That's a great idea! x
Thanks Tamlyn. Always good to hear your news 😊
You're welcome - thank you for watching x

Haha thank you. I had done my hair and make up for filming! x
