This is like one of those medieval paintings of a tiger done by someone who'd only heard the word "tiger" once and had nothing else to go on. The devs have clearly heard that fire is this thing, right, that's been kinda popular down through the aeons, and that's the absolute limit of what they know.
I remember playing this at my local Q-zar. EDIT: Never mind, I got this confused with a light gun game with a similar theme. One of the *Bosses* was burning set of curtains...
Especially Japanese-made fire fighting action ones. First, we have Sega's Brave Firefighters from 1999, and then we have this game FireFighter F.D. 18 from Konami in 2003/2004
I love how your water hose apparenty extracts water from the thin aether. When you turn around, there distinctly is no trail of hose behind you, so apparently it stops after like six feet. It's not actually connected to anything.
Oh man, you just unlocked some memories. I remember playing this a lot, but I could never finish it because my game would get stuck on a loading screen after the "Angel" boss fight in the offices. Sad :c
I *think* that pipe shooting flames is supposed to be some kind of jet engine. There's turbine fins inside the end that's shooting the fire. Though, why there's a giant get engine inside a tunnel, I couldn't tell you.
okay, I sorta get that losing any one survivor is a fail state ("never say casualties!"), but why is our fire chief so "disappointed" in us? that woman was locked behind a keycard door, she was dead by the time we got it open, we rescued *everyone else*, you'd think that'd warrant more of a "there was nothing you could do" (which would still break Dean's heart, but...y'know!)
So, does anyone else think the fire hose sounds like a vacuum cleaner? I can't stop imagining Dean as the after hours cleaner, hoovering up all that pesky fire that people left lying around.
I'd say only Burning Rangers is a more realistic depiction of firemen disappearing survivors into safety before fighting some kinda fire spewing abomination.
Oh man! I remember ironically renting this from blockbuster when I was in college. They don't make enough firefighter games though. Here's hoping for a full playthrough!
It's a tough formula, because while it involves many if the same skills as a traditional first or third person game, it's also about preventing harm, so it's inherently less cool than being a police or military shooter. Maybe that's why they added fire monsters? 🔥 🤔
I like how this game has a huge ‘Disaster Day of Crisis” feel to it. I guess it’s the “American” flavor that you can only get from Japanese game devs trying to make American games
The Konami connection made me curious if you could unlock Snake for use... You cannot it seems, but completing the game does unlock other characters for use - erotic points would be earned
I can see why this never caught on, it's so close to being alright for what it is but between the hit or miss presentation and gameplay that veers into frustrating more than challenging it seems like it'd be a pain for most people to get through.
@@Shift_Salt Fucking christ, I forgot... Fantastic highs and controller snapping lows, still one of my favorite games of all time! XD At least you can jank some missions, but yah 3 really improved on the missions/gameplay. Pity about the story. :(
will sgf spend his whole playthrough pointing the water hose at his feet? will he walk up to health bar fires and try to spray them from point blank range?! find out next time on Firefighter F.D
I am now hoping for so much, but expecting so little as to the nature of these fires. Are they sentient? Are they ghost powered?? How else was Angel Flare utilising those burning flying shirts? I expect no answers from the game.

"NEVER EVER SAY CASUALITIES!!!" *SHAKES WOMAN*
The firefighter said calmly
In a live broadcast.
If I was trapped in a fire and the fireman said to me "this fire is weird it doesnt go out" i think id just try and make a break for it
To be fair, fires with health bars *are* pretty unusual.
Roaring is pretty basic, but once it breaks out a health bar, stop drop and get the heck out.
I would watch an entire playthrough of this struggle
How about that!
This is making me wanna rewatch your Lifeline playthrough.

What was the name of the game?
I'm honestly surprised that there aren't more firefighter action games. It seems like a really obvious premise.
Especially Japanese-made fire fighting action ones. First, we have Sega's Brave Firefighters from 1999, and then we have this game FireFighter F.D. 18 from Konami in 2003/2004

Cordless hoses are the wave of the future.
using his power of "the backdraft" dean mcgregor can vanquish any blaze beast he sees

Please countinue this, I'm hooked on this story now, I need to know how it ends
I recognize this is likely as close as we'll get to a SGF playthough of Burning Rangers so I'm all for it.
Never give up.
and for those wondering, no, firefighters don't get extra hazard pay if a fire monster shows up
It's fine. True firefighting heroes are only motivated by heroism and/or revenge.

Yeah that's what it is but no idea why it's there lol
This is similar to that firefighting game HUMAN entertainment made for the SNES. I think SGF should play through this game.

Casual... wait wait... tie. It's casual tie Friday.
I do love when the subtitles don't match the spoken lines. 🙃

It does
I love how the hose just ends 3 feet behind him
That hose is about as eldritch as the fire demons.

I was kinda playing the English version of Angels with Burning Hearts on repeat while watching this. Also that's one longass hose.
I like how this game has a huge ‘Disaster Day of Crisis” feel to it.

They don't know how many bagels...
Coming dangerously close to "It's the only way to defuse my sins!"
please make this a series
ah, so the tutorial level is a goddamn tunnel fire
not a good way to die
I haven't heard of this game, either, but I'm kinda invested in the whole thing now! xD
The Konami connection made me curious if you could unlock Snake for use... You cannot it seems, but completing the game does unlock other characters for use - erotic points would be earned
Axe these hose
This was neat!
Featuring surprise cross-over cameos from Angela Orosco and The Fury, I hope?
I can see why this never caught on, it's so close to being alright for what it is but between the hit or miss presentation and gameplay that veers into frustrating more than challenging it seems like it'd be a pain for most people to get through.
I'm getting flashbacks to Saints Row 2 Fire fighting mini missions right now...
It's not a pleasant feeling. >
Better than the tow truck shit
That game had a lot of awful side activities.

everytime i hear rescue, i need to think about Cold Fear :DD
