Nice video, showing me the confusing part where the the water and steam wand come from the same place. I use the other machine which have a dedicated place for hot water. This one helps me lot before I make the final call. Seems like good choose except the PID thing.
Is that typical to see a temp drop of 10 C when pulling a shot on this or any machine? Thought the PID is supposed maintain your target temp throughout
I guess the PID measures the temp close to where the cold water comes in the boiler since the change is so fast, so possibly the brew water temp isn't quite that cold.
Pid cannot help that. Yes, the temp drop is quite alarming even considering 30ml cold water infusion into 250ml heated tank. I think it is not setup correctly. Design falt
Is this how the PID is supposed to work? Started w/ 93 degrees and was at 80 when the shot reached the end. I thought PID is supposed to keep the temperature relatively stable?
When you pull a shot cold water is introduced into the boiler so the temperature will go down but the water for your extraction would be at your set temperature and it should recover fairly quickly for the next shot
Bought this machine about 3 years ago for the exact reasons you mentioned and I‘ve been happily using it ever since. There is an additional optional cover for the dripping tray which I would recommend, since it covers the dark plastic and improves the looks. One thing has puzzled me for a while now. My optimal double espresso extraction based on taste and time results at around 12 bars on that Barometer. Any ideas? Is this a pump setting which a technician could easily adjust or maybe a measurement issue? 9 Bars results in coffee just flowing out in around 10 sec.
Lelit sets their vibration pumps quite high from the factory. My Victoria was doing above 11 bars static pressure. The solution was to disassemble the machine, find the OPV valve and lower the static pressure (measured on a blind basket) to 9. Since I’m mostly doing light roast espresso, and I have quite a high end grinder, this really improved my shots, I can now do longer brew times and the shot doesn’t fall apart in the second half.
@@michalselep1755 when doing research with other coffee machines and opv change ppl were saying that 9 bar settings were showing about +-10 bar on blind basket because of closed system (watter does not where to go so pressure is little bit higher on blindly closed portafilter with manometer) to check pressure would be better flow manometer in system or something like that ?
@@SparkOfThoth well, my machine hits around 8.5 (slighty above 9 on a blind pf), at the beginning of shots and since I only do light roasts, it suits my use much much better than what it was previously, more steady, less channeling, I can pull slower shots etc.

Is the 57 mm portafilter size of the Lelit Anna 2 unusual and locks you in to buy only their accessories? Also what do you think of the urbanic 80s grinder from Korea?
57mm is a less common size than 58mm so there is no denying the fact that there are fewer accessory options available for this size. 58mm is the most common so it will have the largest selection of accessories. I'm not familiar with this grinder, so I can't comment
What's the point with PID that start the espresso at 93 and end with 80 degrees that is 13 degrees difference with the PID. It seems like the PID is just to show the temp but not controlling it. I installed PID on my GCP and it works better than that. same goes for other built in PID like profitec go.
You are confusing the temperature of the boiler with the temperature of the water coming out of it. This little machine is super stable regarding the temperature of the water coming out of it (measured inside the portafilter while brewing). But yes, in the PID screen you'll see a temperature drop of several degrees, but that IS NOT reflected in the water coming out of the group head while brewing.
it would be a good way to promote your product as well as convenient for those are interested in if you put a link about the product like the whole latte love does.
I add water first by removing filter holder from 'shower" head. Then I add filter holder with coffee and do a shot. Could you explain please why you not recommend that on single boiler machine?
Hi, no the group is not actively heated. The group is heated using passive heat from the boiler, the Lelit Anna has a vertical boiler design, the boiler and the grouphead are all one piece and the heat from the boiler heats up the group. The steam wand is also not double walled.
for future people. No they don't.. So you'd have to time it yourself. The easiest one is to use a standardized espresso shot glass OR better use a scale to weigh your shot
The aluminum boiler in the Gaggia could corrode and it doesn't have temperature or pressure gauges. It seems like the Lelit could be better imo but I don't own either machine so take it for what it's worth.
Hi! is this ok that a temperature on the screen is changing all the time from 92 to 93 and 94 degrees( set up is 93) ? sometimes on my machine it's changing even more than 1-2 degrees.
Hi, that is all normal. The PID is turning the heating element on and off to maintain a target temperature inside your boiler. It's normal for there to be 1-2 degree swings.
This display shows temperature in boiler, but not on output. Also, you can see significant drop in temperature when it runs the extraction. So, it's ok
Temperature is one of the most important variables when extracting coffee. The same coffee can have a different taste extracted at 93 degrees vs for example 90 degrees. A PID gives you temperature stability first and foremost. With a mechanical thermostat you have variance of +/- 5 or 6 degrees which is very significant. I think it is well worth the extra cost. It will make your coffee more consistent and better tasting.
Not a problem for me, I have this same machine and I’m the only one in my house who drinks coffee. I pull a double shot every morning and I’m good to go. Thanks for the helpful video, BTW! I learned a few things.
Hello, recently we got the same machine and grinder and the double basket makes amazing coffee but with the single one, we are really having a hard time. The machine's temp is 93/94oC and we tried changing the grind and the quantity, we tried tamping harder but the single espresso is always either too thin or too sour. We cannot get it right for some reason. It starts out pretty good but then it starts coming out too fast. Any suggestions?
I own the same machine, and yes, the temperature drops as cold water (actually, “room temperature” would be more accurate) fills the boiler. But my shots are still super hot. The main thing is to preheat the cups.
I'm really torn between the Lelit Anna and the Gaggia Classic Pro.. any thoughts? I like the style of the GCP but the Anna has PID and also seem to be able to use larger MUG size which might be important for me
Gaggia is an excellent machine. I had one before getting this one. They both do a great job. In water mode the pump redirects the water to the little wand which you see on the right, just like in steam mode, but with a lower temperature.
